Season Three or Season Four? - Which One's Better?

Re: New to Miami!! Need Answers...

I say get both. I love both seasons... I seem to be one of the few who do though.

Re: New to Miami!! Need Answers...

I say get season 3 that was an awsome season and id get season 4 i loved it i dont know y every1 is saying "dont buy it" i thougt out of all 4 seasons it was the best! But thats just how i feel.

Cova welcome to the CSI forum! :)

Re: New to Miami!! Need Answers...

I really didn't enjoy Season 4 very much at all, apart from the episodes 'Nailed' and 'Felony Flight'. I would watch those again, but I won't be buying the DVDs as I have no desire to see the rest of it again. I don't mind a gap in my collection really. For me, it's a principle thing! ;)

I loved Season 3. :D The first 3 seasons of Miami were the best by far, in my opinion. The writing, the character dynamics and storylines had so much more substance compared to Season 4.

Re: New to Miami!! Need Answers...

I hated season 4. We've just finished the series here in the UK and it was awful. I hated Natalia, Natalia/Eric, the whole relationship with Marisol and Horatio, what they're doing with Ryan's character etc. etc. Just everything. I just didn't enjoy it at all. I agree with MiamiDade, the only episode I enjoyed watching was Nailed.

In fact, I couldn't even be bothered with the last 5 or so episodes of season 4. I just lost interest in the whole thing. It sort of became the Marisol/Horatio show and it was kind of irritating.

Re: New to Miami!! Need Answers...

Well, in my mind, seasons 1-3 all go together in a neat little package - sorry to the Speed fans, but with or without him, the show remained the same stellar quality to me. Most of my favorite eps are from that season, for quality of the plotline as much as character development. Though I suppose it helps if you like Yelina.

As for season 4, I didn't buy the DVDs...but only because I'd already collected most of the episodes off iTunes and TiVo and such. I really did enjoy that season, hurray for personal storylines and season-long plot arcs. These elements hooked me from 3-year casual viewer into "registered on Talk CSI fan." But again - it certainly helps if you like Horatio centric storylines.

I feel I should point out that I also really liked Marisol, no matter what anyone said, so that may have colored my perception of how excellent the second half of the season was.

Re: New to Miami!! Need Answers...

Get s3 and s4 you need to get the whole picture to understand s5 anyway. s3 was great, s4 wasn't all that bad especially if you like the other characters besides Horatio. But things got a little crummy when Marisol came into the picture, but that's just me I'm probably biased. Sorry Painted Shadow .

And I totally agree with Catpin , Marisol looked too good to be dying of cancer. I have personal experience from my family. But it's Miami so I guess it tends to be ok for them to veer off from reality a little. Much as I didn't like the Marisol storyarc, I must admit there were some heart-warming scences between her and H.

Re: New to Miami!! Need Answers...

What about Eric! She was his sister.. And he was really sad when she died..

Same here faith666. I enjoyed 2 episodes - 'Felony Flight' and 'Nailed'. For me, Season 4 was pretty terrible television! I watched it out of loyalty to the show, hoping it would improve, but alas, there was no silver lining. I was very glad when it was finally over and there is no way I would want it in my DVD collection. There was no depth, no substance (as MD said) and the writing was alarmingly poor. The attempts to make anything seem meaningful just came across as very contrived to me. Very disappointing.

Re: New to Miami!! Need Answers...

Wow... I actually really loved S4. :) It showed us a lot of about the characters, and went in depth with the Marisol storyline. I liked Marisol, too, Painted_Shadow. She brought a lot out in both Horatio and Eric that we probably would never have seen otherwise. And I'd suggest getting both S3 & 4, S3 was really good, as most people have pointed out, and, in my opinion, so was S4, but you really need S4 to understand Rio, unless you just want to be spoiled. :D

I do know exactly what you mean by that! I kind of watched it in spite of myself, but couldn't wait for the season to end.

Very well put. The whole season (with the exception of the couple of episodes mentioned) seemed emotionally off in so many ways. Not at all what we had come to expect after the first 3 excellent seasons.

As for Marisol, I don't really have anything against her character as such, just the ridiculously contrived nature of her storyline. As a couple of others have pointed out, her stunningly healthy appearance despite having terminal cancer really grated. Her relationship with H left me unmoved and unconvinced. Poor Eric. It looked like he was going to have a really poignant storyline too. :(

Oh well, at least Season 5 is looking ever-so-slightly more promising. :)

I loved season 4! and ur right we got to see a hole emotional side of eric and horatio that we would have never seen without marisol.

Re: New to Miami!! Need Answers...

I thought Season 4 was very poor and a real disappointment, for reasons that have already been put forward very well in this thread. I won't be getting it on DVD.

Season 3 was great in my opinion. Not as good as Season 2, but that was very special indeed. :D

Re: New to Miami!! Need Answers...

I just can't get into S3 and 4 like 1 and 2...the lack of Speed is one factor but I dunno, I just like the first two better myself.
