Episode 9.18 is called "Mascara"

Is this the 200th episode involving the Lucha Libre wrestling? I only ask because there was a Mexican luchadore (wrestler) named Mil Mascaras and Mascara I think can be translated to mask. Unless I am way off and it's about make up.

Any idea if Det. Vega will be involved in the 200th episode? Cause we may need the aid of a Spanish speaking detective. I know Nick speaks Spanish but he may still be rusty as he mentioned in "Snakes".

You're right. Mascara (or rather la máscara) is Spanish for mask, whereas the the eye make-up that's called mascara in English translates to el rímel in Spanish (though I have heard friends call it mascara while speaking Spanish).

The fact that you know that, Princess, frightens me a bit.

Oh I hope so! I never even thought of that, but yes, we'll need Vega. And Nick. In Spanish. Yes. Maybe even angry Spanish! :D

Hmm...Nick speaking Spanish...

So with this talk of Langston's wedding ring, I'm going to throw out my theory on it.

When he stared at it in 'One To Go', he was, obviously, thinking of his wife. There has been no mention, yet, that he is married.

She could very well have passed on or was murdered. I'm going to go with the latter here. I have a feeling we will hear about at some point in the future. It will probably be unsolved or they arrested the wrong person or something along those lines.

See I thought that too. They could be doing a 'Mac Taylor' thing where his wife passed away and he still wears his ring. But you are right, I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

John Schneider ("Dukes of Hazzard," "Smallville") And Michael Weston ("House") Guest Stars
This makes me happy. :D I love John Schnider! The Dukes of Hazzard was one of my favorite TV shows. I wonder how he'll be on CSI???
Oh GregNickRyanFan, Vartann is in this episode too!

Per characters speaking Spanish, I just assumed that at least one other character is probably proficient in Spanish, especially given that Greg and Riley both finished school in the last decade. Foreign language proficiency is a requirement at most U.S. colleges, to my knowledge. It feels like most people I know who are in GenX or GenY speak at least 2 languages, though that might be more of an east coast thing.

No, it's definitely a southwest thing, too. Especially being so close to the border and everything. In Arizona, all schools require a second language for graduation. So it's very posisble that Greg and Riley are fluent. Heck, being in the medical field may make Langston qualified for fluent spanish as well

It's interesting, however, they've only shown Nick to be bilingual because in A Bullet Runs Through It, it appears that Sara doesn't understand the woman whose aparment was riddled with bullets.

Maybe not all students pick it up even though they are required to learn:guffaw:sounds like lot of in Canada. I took French for 6 years and still can only do that basics. My daughter is eight and in French Immersion and her French is better than mine.

Very good point. My mom only took Spanish for a few years, but she seems pretty close to fluent (or at least fluent in the stuff that's the most practical) from being a nurse. Given Ray's intelligence and obvious natural curiosity, I definitely wouldn't be surprised if he knew Spanish.

Hmm that's a good point. I think it really depends on the person (personally, foreign languages have always been my weakness), but I think that Greg, especially because he's already bilingual, would be likely to retain what Spanish (or French) he learned better than the average person. Most of my close friends from back home are bi- or trilingual, and I've definitely noticed that they have a much easier time picking up and retaining new languages as a result, so, given that Greg already speaks Norwegian and English fluently, I'd expect that he'd do quite well with a third language. I'm sure him being a genius doesn't hurt either.

I hope this isn't getting too off-topic for the spoilers thread.

Whoa awesome! I love the looks of this. But how the heck does Hodges end up in a hostage investigation? Why does he keep ending up doing the CSIs' job? It's not like the other characters have screentime to spare... tsk tsk. I'm glad to hear that Greg at least has a storyline here though. It's about time. I just really hope that his storyline gets plenty of screentime, preferably more than the hostage crisis. I'm also glad to hear that Sofia's back on the job, and I'm surprised that there aren't many Ray-oriented episodes.

If these spoilers are true, then I guess we are going to see Nick's grief come out and then some.

Well these spoilers actually sound pretty good, so I would not mind them coming true. I am thinking instead of Wendy becoming a CSI, they must have decided to make Hodges one, since he is out in the field so much now, they just have not told us. I still think it is silly overall, since he always said he did not want to be.

I can guarantee the hostage situation will get most of the screentime if the spoilers all hold true.

Lol I totally agree. I'm just really curious about what exactly Greg does. I sincerely hope they're not cising it this time, like they have in the past (remember the "argument" Greg and Sara were supposed to have in 'Goodbye and Good Luck'?) They'd better not have the career-juxtaposing move be sleeping with a stripper. The third time will not be the charm on that storyline. It wasn't believable when Nick did it, it wasn't believable when Warrick did it, and it sure wouldn't be believable for Greg either. Maybe it'll have something to do with the book...

Well ending his career as a CSI could really mean a ton of things, in any case I am actually just happy to see something about him.

Maybe he throws his dinosaur at Undersheriff Ecklie...he could end his career doing that. :guffaw:

That could be the cliff hanger.

Since they've done the CSI in mortal danger to the death point, I guess they are going to try things a little different.

WOW! These spoilers sound really interesting!

How many times is Nick gonna pull his gun in this season? We should start a drinking game! ;)

I'm sorry, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't CSI:Miami have the whole "There's a mole in the department" storyline a while back? I'm not a CSI:Miami fan, so I don't know all the details, but it sounds similar.

I don't like the fact that Part One goes from Catherine to Langston in Part Two. Please, oh please PTB, don't botch up the Catherine character anymore than you have!!!

But overall, if those spoilers hold up, they sound pretty awesome!
