There was a similar thread to this last season, so I thought it might be nice to have one for season 5 as well - this way we can kind of keep track of the ratings without having to go on a wild goose chase to find and compare them.
I got this from PI Feedback - keep in mind that the ratings are a bit skewed because the President's speech pushed everything back 15 minutes, so Criminal Minds' ratings affected NY's a bit. I'll copy and paste the ratings for both shows for reference.

(According to the ratings round up for the finale, "Hostage" had 11.71 million viewers.)

So CSI:NY seems to be starting off on a better note this season than it did last year - let's hope the ratings climb continues!CBS moved into the winner’s circle at 9 p.m. care of the season-premiere of Criminal Minds at a healthy 15.12 million viewers and a 4.2/11 among adults 18-49 (up 2.46 million viewers and 20 percent in the demo from one year earlier), followed by the season-premiere of CSI: NY at a dominant 15.55 million viewers and a 4.2/12 among adults 18-49. Comparably, CSI: NY’s year-ago opener was a weaker 12.72 million viewers and a 3.7/10 in the demo. (Keep in mind, again, that the results for both Criminal Minds and CSI: NY were approximate).
