Season 5 Discussion

I loved S/5. one of the best in CSI history. From the riveting premiere "VIVA LAS VEGAS" with 4 different stories, to the most intense fabulous CSI to me ever, the finale "GRAVE DANGER" with Quentin Tarantino directing it. He had the ability to bring out the highest acting accolades from all the stars on the show. I really thought George would win or be nominated for an Emmy, for his riveting intense portrayal of this man buried alive, he was outstanding:bolian: Some more I liked from this season were~

SWAP MEET

HARVEST

WHAT'S EATING GILBERT GRISSOM

CH CH CHANGES

MEA CULPA

WHO SHOT SHERLOCK

NESTING DOLLS

KING BABY

BIG MIDDLE

COMMITTED

season 5 was either my 2nd or third favorite season, s7 is my fave then comes s6 or s5, can't decide

the 100th ep ch-changes or hollywood brass (one of the few brass centered episodes) not my favorites but i'd take them over mascara any day

the issue of the team spittling up- for that i kinda hated ecklie for awhile but in iced i started to like him a little better, i love it when griss say's "i love it when you wear your gloves", but poor super dave and al, i would like to see some more of hodges/ecklie sometime in the future

greg becomes a csi :):):) i loved the end scene when he says "you wanted to see me grissom", loved his hair in complusion (my avatar)

favorite episodes: grave danger 1 and 2, viva las vegas, down the drain (love the yo! bling  why the heck did the one guy have to interupt :(), who shot sherlock, no humans involved, iced, committed, weeping willows, 4 x 4 (liked how they did it backwards)

i wish the writers would do another episode this season like viva las vegas or even 4 x 4 and have multiple cases, or again have less connected cases, and told in an unusual way like in 4x4

in committed one of my favorite moments is when adam trent grabs sara (i remember yelling at the tv "grissom hurry") and grissom comes back is like open the door and the look on his face, oooh man

grave danger i wish spike would spike would show it on tv more(i so need a dvr or dvd's *sighs*) but whenever they do most of the time i'm always busy :(:( i've only seen like twice, i do like the way they brought the team back together and wished they could have shown more of nick dealing with it and him opening up a little more about it, i also assume that sometime shortly after is when gsr happened :)

nesting dolls, we finally know sara's backstory and her reasons for being like that around abuse (and she has good reason to be), griss holding her hand :), i love the end with ecklie, cath, and griss when grissom says he isn't firing her and the look on catherine's face, i wonder what is going throughcath's mind

wrapping up the blue paint serial killer eehhh the mini killer is still my fave

wished we could have seen more of marg's husband (now ex) alan, that could have made a good ship there :( *sighs*

king baby....yea i'm not commenting there, it's one those csi things like last week in panty sniffer

Season 5 is probably my favorite season. A good deal of that is due to Greg going from Lab Rat to CSI officially. But I actually liked seeing the team split up and seeing how they dealt with the changes.

My Fave eps:
Viva Las Vegas
Down the Drain
No Humans Involved
Who Shot Sherlock
Big Middle
Iced

So so eps:
Grave Danger
Swap Meet
Ch-ch-changes
Harvest
4x4
Compulsion

Ones I really did not like was Snakes and Hollywood Brass. Neither interested me.

I'm so excited for season 9 discussions because of For Warrick, 19 Down and One To Go which are also my favorites. Maybe there were also flaws I didn't catch too. And Mascara which was boring may turn out to be flawless (I got a feeling)! :)

That's something I never thought of. Perhaps the episodes that are meticulously crafted so every detail fits turn out so sterilized they're almost unwatchable. Take THAT, Athersgeo!

Isn't it weird, maybe. I never thought that a great episode like Grave Danger has many flaws.

And, as I think I've said earlier, what grates the most about Grave Danger is that a good chunk of the things I've nitpicked could have been so easily fixed with just a line of dialogue, *OR* a more effective follow up in season 6. (If you think I'm hard on Grave Danger, wait until you see me on Daddy's Little Girl!)

I'll be waiting for that. Why don't you try Mascara and tell us what you think. Maybe you'll like it. :)

Geeno - you have a very good point about Nick's actual rescue from the grave. The physics are definitely a little off there. *grins*

Thank you! It's really off or Nick has super back!

You know, I really don't think it's fair that you all can carry on conversation in here all day long and I can't. :shifty: Especially when I can READ the posts on my cell phone but not respond!

Sorry Smokey - yesterday was my day off and I clearly didn't have enough housework to catch up on!

Oh yeah...that "conclusion" to this storyline was just awful. But they said in the Season 6 DVD commentaries (can't remember right now which person it was...maybe CM) that they didn't want to keep bringing up Grave Danger. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere too that George didn't want to have it follow Nick around for very long either.

I can understand not wanting to keep harping on about it and, for the most part, I'm actually pretty happy with how they followed it up in season 6 (I think you're talking about Danny Cannon's comments about having to do continuity on the Shooting Stars commentary) - right up until the conversation in DLG between Grissom and Nick, at which point...

...well, let's just say I've so far gone through probably a ream of paper in the pursuit of how I'd have done it!

*cough*

As for me watching Mascara, unless someone can loan me the season 9 DVDs, I'm a little stumped on that (unless the UK repeat schedule gets a little less eccentric [or I finally get a TiVO]) - but having read the review from this site, I really can't see me bucking the trend; it sounds dreadful *grin*

Oh, you have no idea how dreadful it truly is. I don't think I've heard of one person liking it. Maybe if you're a die hard Langston fan, but even then its a maybe.

... do y'all want me to start the discussion thread for Season 6? The way everyone keeps moving in that direction is implying as such. I would be interested to see Athersgeo's essay on the flaws with that season too. ;)

Which I'm definitely not. I don't vehemently dislike him, but he's not the reason I tune in each week.

I'm up for it, certainly...

I would be interested to see Athersgeo's essay on the flaws with that season too. ;)

Well, the biggest one has nothing to do with writing or directing or acting...and Smokey at the very least can probably guess what part of it is - and I'm reasonably sure you WON'T want an essay on why I find that bit so...uh...distubringly wrong. But I can see what I can do about the rest of it ;)

You just had to say 'disturbingly wrong', didn't you? Now I'm intrigued. Damn you woman for pushing my buttons.

Still not sure about starting Season 6 yet. It goes against everything I stand for. The moral implications of such an act are astronomical. Excuse my while I go into an existential crisis...

Oh for crying out loud! Start it already! You're gonna hurt yourself thinking about it until you do!

I really didn't like much about season 6, that I can remember. Might have something to do with Nick's hair styles, etc. ;)

:eek::eek: Did we forget 'Gum Drops'?:eek: and you call yourself a Nick fan. :shifty:

But yeah, it was his hair.

And Rashomama. :) But...the hair. And other episodes....and...and....gosh, if only we had a season 6 thread to discuss all of this. *sigh*

;)

Well season 5 is my favorite season! The team getting seperated ticked me off a bit at first but I got used to it. Okay I do love Grave Danger on the most part though it was really bad with my claustrophobia so first time I watched it I got a little creeped out as weird as that sounds.

Okay so favorite episode of the season Who Shot Sherlock I loved the case! And Greg passed his profiency(sp?) test which made me super happy!

Least favorite episode would be Hollywood Brass I almost fell asleep while watching it seriously.

The rest of the episodes I loved:

Spark Of Life
No Humans Involved
4X4
Big Middle
Iced
Viva Las Vegas

I really liked Season 5. I loved Weeping Willows and it's one of my favorite episodes to date. (I also love listening to Marg's commentary on the DVD, but that's another story...) I also liked Nesting Dolls, Formalities (the bowtie scene remains the HOTTEST scene ever for me), Crow's Feet, Harvest, Down the Drain, and Viva Las Vegas. King Baby was just...wow, but the random Tush line at the end made it bearable. I'm one of the few people in the middle about Grave Danger. It was cool, but it's not my absolute favorite. It was an action packed episode, though.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this (or maybe they have, cause I just kinda skimmed the posts) but I can't help but wonder how different the season, heck the series, may be had they not hired back Jorja and George after the summer firing fiasco...

This is my second favorite season (after s7).
Best episodes:
Viva Las Vegas
Down The Drain
What's Eating Gilbert Grissom
Ch-Ch-Changes
Who Shot Sherlock?
King Baby
4x4
Grave Danger

Worst episodes:
Swap Meet
Formalities
Snakes
Hollywood Brass(one of the worst ever)

Like everyone i didn't like break up of the team, although there were some episodes that the teams were united to solve a case together like King Baby.
The finale despite it's flaws was one of the best i've ever seen.
