Season 12 Spoiler Lab Discussion Part 2

Please tell me again how no one on this board hates LF, just the way the TPTB brought him in and the way the writers wrote the Ray Langston character? Seems to me that only someone who hates LF would want his departure to have gone down this way. Especially when every indication has been that he left of his own accord. We all believe what we want to believe, I guess.

Again, I don't hate LF. I simply agreed with Wojo, regardless of the flack it brings.

I think LF tried to do his best for the show. It appears that he/they thought that his presence as a film star would re-invigorate the ratings, whereas it instead seemed to bring the ratings down after 2 1/2 years. After his time on the show it was obviously not working. I'm sorry, but from other accounts I've read (NOT rag sheets, I don't read those) it was not HIS choice to leave. He continued to make movies while doing CSI, so it's not like he needed to leave in order to continue his film career. He himself stated that he was not looking to leave (I do have that interview), so it doesn't seem logical that he would change his mind in less than 30 days. I simply think that TPTB decided to not renew his contract in order to try and appease long time viewers and change the direction of the show. Nobody was ready to throw in the towel yet, which I for one, am extremely glad they didn't! That doesn't mean I hate Laurence Fishburne.

And I simply disagree with anyone who thinks LF was fired, regardless of the flak (no c) it brings.

I don't read rag sheets either. Please cite the sources that led you to think he was fired vs. leaving of his own accord. I'd like to read them.

Why is it illogical to think that maybe he changed his mind somewhere in between the time he said he "wasn't going anywhere" and the time he sat down at the contract negotiating table? His own agent was surprised to learn he left, for cryin' out loud. TPTB had to scramble to find a replacement and rewrites had to be done. People can change their mind in 30 days or 30 seconds. There's no logic involved at all. Happens every day.

No one disputes that the ratings of CSI have gone down in the 2-1/2 seasons that LF was there. The fact of the matter is that, with the exception of season 9 when WP left, the ratings for CSI have been going down steadily every season since season 5. To attribute the decline in ratings to LF is extremely unfair.

I am a long time viewer and I liked LF on the show and did not need to be "appeased". This board does not speak for the entire fan fase, so please stop deluding yourselves that TPTB did something YOU wanted them to do.

Well, you're entitled to your opinion, as I am mine. Sorry to spell flak wrong, no big deal, guess I was thinking about Don Flack lately. Oh well

I didn't save the article I read, I had no reason to, but I do know I found the link on CSI Files. Doesn't matter anymore anyway, the past is now the past and I'm very much looking forward to Ted Danson. As long as George Eads stays on the show, I guess I can handle pretty much anything. As of tonight, a new era begins!

Interview: Jorja Fox

Nice review Shane!! :)

CSI Files: And how many episodes do you think you will be in this season?
Fox: We’re talking somewhere between fifteen and seventeen.

Hopefully 17 :):)

CSI Files: One of my favorite moments of the season so far is Sara teasing Morgan (Elisabeth Harnois) about her driving in episode two. The smirk you two exchange is worth a million bucks!

Can't wait to see it!! :)

The exchanges that you see in the next couple episodes, particularly with Eric Szmanda who plays Greg Sanders and Morgan, are priceless

And my excitement for Greg and Morgan scenes/interaction is growing!!! :D

Fox: Yeah, I’m still advocating for the musical actually. [Laughs.] That may be the episode that I do try to write because I think everyone in the writers’ room is definitely opposed to it, which I completely get. [Laughs.] So maybe I think I’ll write that episode and present it and then see if they think it’s awful. Which they probably will, but it’d be a great exercise for me.
CSI Files: It would make a great lab rats episode!

It would!! ;) Try it writers, you made the hypothetical murders work :)

I am all for that musical episode, too!!!

I love the idea of Susan Sarandon or Mary Tyler Moore for Sara's mom. Great choices!

I don't think I really want to see a musical CSI. Nope, not even as a labrats episode.

Just seems wrong, but, hey, I could be wrong.

I mean wouldn't that be considered 'jumping the shark'? :shifty:

I can't see Susan Sarrandon as Sara's mom... perhaps she could play DB's wife though. Can't see Mary Tyler Moore as Sara's mom either, perhaps she could play Doc's wife lol. Lesley Ann Warren is so far the only one I could see playing Sara's mom. I don't know why... I can just picture it.

As for a musical episode, it depends on how they would do it. But, I'd settle for an end of the episode scene where they all go to a karaoke bar and get on stage together and sing something LOL.

I can't get the Buffy musical out of my head. I see the whole group singing "what can't we face if we're together? What's in this place that we can't weather?" or "We will walk through the fire, the point of no return We will walk through the fire and let it burrrnnnn" Going Through The Motions would have been Grissom during 'Burnout'. And Where Do We Go From Here would have fit several season finales. And a version of "I've Got a Theory" would be a nice group number.

The karaoke would be nice. Who still plays an instrument? We lost Gary/Warrick...what about RDH? I know he sings but does he play? IDK if anyone else could accompany them.

It was nice how they worked Gary Sinise's bass playing in on NY...they ought to do something like that here with someone. Although we did see Warrick playing a few notes in that one ep, forgot the name and the season.

Ok, so I've been thinking about this supposedly love triangle. Here's my thoughts:

Greg 'likes' Morgan, Morgan 'likes' Nick and Nick will have nothing to do with her. Greg gets mad that she likes Nick and tells Nick he wants to 'meet' him in the parking lot after schoo...err work to beat him up. After all Morgain is his, not Nicks.:lol:

:guffaw: nice one Speedstokesgirl, why don't we just have it play out like that:D.

Personally, I really hope they drop the whole love triangle thing, maybe it won't be like the triangle I have in mind (although I can't see how that's possible :shifty:), but the last thing I need is for the show to get soap operish even just a little bit ; plus, I love Nick and Greg's relationship and I don't want it to be ruined. Sorry if I ranted a little.

btw. Thanks for posting the promo Vegaslights :)!

Oh pease don't let there be a love triangle! I haven't seen the new episode yet but I've been reading everyone's comments and I really hope they don't try and pair Morgan off with Greg just because she's young and pretty. I love CSI for the crime and the drama, and I really don't like when they drabble in romance. They've done it well occasionally; Catherine and Vartann spring to mind, I think their relationship has been beautifully done. I also really enjoyed Grissom and Lady Heather (massively intriguing) but I never enjoyed the Grissom/Sara stuff. I felt it was a little hacknied while they were working together but I like it a lot more since they live apart. I really liked Morgan in the last season and am really looking forward to her being part of the CSI team. But the idea of her and Greg pairing off fills me with dread...not to talk of him and Nick falling out over her! Nick and Greg have a lovely easy friendship and I've always enjoyed their interactions.
