Re: Photography Competition: 'Autumn Colours'

Oh, wibble ! Your competition nearly got me into trouble today!

Basically, I have to drive around my beautiful county a lot for work. Today, using the husbands new sat nav, I drove to the middle of nowhere (it seemed). I was on some stupid windy country roads, but there was perfect blue sky and really beautiful autumn trees....

So I stopped, got out of the car and started taking a few pics. About a minute later this guy pulls up next to me and gets out of his car. He asks what I am doing, I say taking pictures, he asks what of? I say something like 'pretty trees'. Then he asks to see my camera, I ask why and he says that I'm not allowed to stop on that road because it is a military training area! There were a few red flags that I passed and apparantly that means it is firing training as well today!

Anyway, I showed him some tree pics and he told me to go. I looked scared, so I think he believed that I probably wasn't a spy! Not sure if I even got any good shots out there, must transfer them to my computer and see!

Re: Photography Competition: 'Autumn Colours'

Lol. Poor Elsie. I had the perfect shot lined up today, and my batteries died. Of course, it's the one time that I don't have any extras with me.

Re: Photography Competition: 'Autumn Colours'

Whoa! Sorry to hear about your ordeal Elsie  Do you live in Scotland? I thought you did, but maybe it's somewhere else.

Anyways, if you do, I'd like to say what a lovely country it is. I went there on holiday in June (I live in England), and saw the diving school at Fort William where they train the marines, and also one afternoon (I think it was when I was visiting Loch Ness) I saw a fighter plane go zooming across the sky over the loch  So I guessed they must do military stuff there somewhere.

Hope you managed to get some nice pics though :)

Re: Photography Competition: 'Autumn Colours'

Have checked the pics, some are OK, but not brilliant!

I live in North Yorkshire actually, there is a lot of military stuff up here (they are particularly strict around the American military base we have). I drive around the countryside a lot, there are some very pretty places up here....

I love Scotland, Wales and Ireland. If I was there I'm sure I could get some amazing scenic pics. who am I kidding, I can't take pics, but I do like to try.

Anyway, the lesson to take from this is 'safety first'. However great the pic could be, don't get out of your car in the middle of nowhere if you are on your own! That guy definately thought I was crazy!

Re: Photography Competition: 'Autumn Colours'

Snow and yesterday's rain took all the cool leaves so autumn "colours" are gone... perhaps I can find something what I can scan...

Re: Photography Competition: 'Autumn Colours'

I adore Autumn, I hope I get a chance to take some pictures or even find something beautiful to take :)

Haha sounds familiar. I was taking some pictures of the harbour (Rotterdam, largest of the world for a long time until some months ago assumable) And they are kinda paranoia since 9/11. So I was taking some innocents pictures of the very nice sunset. The sky was all purple! And there came the cops. Had to identify myself and stuff. They wanted to have a look at my photos. I checked out so I could leave again happily. I think it did help that I was standing wth my little book of my camera in my other hand

Re: Photography Competition: 'Autumn Colours'

Oh dear, maybe I'd better stop these competitions if they're going to get people into trouble

Nah, we like getting into trouble. It brightens up our day... Am gonna send in a pic, it's not from the other day though!

Re: Photography Competition: 'Autumn Colours'

I agree... getting in trouble is fun. I haven't yet, but I got some strange looks today, when I was out taking pictures. I was on a walking path, and I had to take a picture of any tree with the slightest bit of colour on it, which isn't many at the moment...

Re: Photography Competition: 'Autumn Colours'

What equator :(. No autumn here and that upsets me. :p

This is fascinating. I was just thinking and hoping that someone would do something about Autumn. It's really a nice season. Now if only I could get connection once when voting opens...........

 But hey, I could get in trouble too if I went around carrying buckets of paint and painting all the leaves orange and brown.

Awesome theme this one Naomi :).
