Now That Petersen, Fox, Dourdan Are Gone

Thanks! I was wondering where this thread went. I'm thinking some of the discussions in the "Missing Grissom" thread belong here.

I think that recent articles that have been posted prove that George Eads and MH have what it takes to carry a show. Both have huge fan bases. Is the show going to be in the top 10 forever? No, but I think that was to be expected sooner or later. But GE and MH have quality acting skills that this show could definitely use.

I agree with 100 per cent. Sadly, I think the networks are not in agreement with us, they feel they need a BIG star to carry the show.

And every week, I feel as if those two have been cheated out of something. They were there long before Ray and yet now he's like the lead guy. I hate the way he figures out things that these guys have known for years. Give me a break!

I still like the concept of Ray. He seems really intelligent and interesting. I guess they justify his intelligence with all of his I just think that he is the type of character that is better in small doses. Like Hodges really. I guess it was all to be expected. With a name like LF on the show, it wasn't like he was going to be in the background the whole time.

MH and GE aren't the only ones. Eric Szmanda also has the acting chops and fan base, and Paul Guilfoyle is amazing. And, hopefully, Riley will only grow more popular as well. Lauren Lee Smith has done a great job so far. CSI still has a great ensemble and I really don't think the losses need to make that much of a difference on the show's performance.

And it feels like Warrick's character had been going downhill for years anyways. He started the series, IMO, as the show's most intriguing, complex character and then TPTB just never really explored that again, at least in any great depth between S4ish and just about until his death arc. Sadly, at this point, I don't feel like losing him feels that different than having him on the show for the past few seasons. I miss the old Warrick that was actually treated as a principle character back in the day.

As for Sara and Grissom, I do really think that Grissom's departure has had a negative impact on the show. Then again, if they could find a way of making Ray less overwhelming and more likable, then it wouldn't be a problem. I liked Sara a lot earlier on the show and I loved her in Season 5 when she was mentoring Greg, but I still love Riley and Wendy much more and I think they've been and will continue to be more than adequate in filling the gap left by Sara. They also both have stronger senses of humor, IMO. Now that SuperDave is a recurring character, I'm sure he'll also help in providing much needed quirky humor as well. In the last episode, Doc Robbins certainly demonstrated that he could as well.

The reason why I am saying MH and GE is because, honestly, they are the only two that I can serisously see TPTB pushing to the forefront. ES is amazing and I think he is great, but obviously TPTB don't see it, otherwise they would be utilizing him more.

Now that these 3 are gone, at least two will probably make a 'guest spot' in S/10, but for now Billy is doing his plays in Chicago, Gary vacationing and made a movie, and Jorja is just having fun, although she'll be making a brief apperance in a Lifetime sit-com, later this year and then there's the CSI MOVIE.. I sure do miss them alot, It was great seeing Billy as Grissom last night in "Woulda Coulda Shoulda" with Natalie again!

i kind of agree. i've always liked LF anyway and i think langston is a decent character but it's almost like so much has been made of his joining that the others have faded into the background a bit - at least that's how it appears to me. i might be seeing things wrong but in the past willows was always a huge presence in every episode and now it seems like i hardly notice her, which is sad because she's a great character.

i guess it's hard when you change the dynamic of a group - grissom leaving as boss, langston starting as rookie, not to say that LF was a replacement for WP but in terms of focus on character it does seem that langston has taken on the focus grissom once had which changes things a lot. also i think now it feels like there's a lack of leader - obviously catherine and nick are pretty much the leaders of the team but to me they seem to have less impact now than before, and i think the great thing about grissom was that as well as being a great character, he was a great leader for the team and it's like that's dissipated, i kind of feel like they're a bit of a rudderless ship at the moment.

also there's the whole thing that 3 major characters left and only 1.5 seem to have been 'replaced' (again, i don't mean replaced in a negative sense, as has been pointed out on here it's not direct replacement) - what i mean is it's hard to have a 3 major character sized gap and fill it with 1 major name, 1 other csi who doesn't seem to have much backstory/personal life as yet (i actually really like riley but i don't think they've made enough of her yet) and have just brought some of the smaller characters from before up a bit more - again, i really like the smaller characters, hodges has long been a favourite of mine, and wendy too, so it's nice to see them get more screen time but it doesn't really help fill that gap.

sorry, that went on a bit!

So Billy is doing his play 'BLACKBIRD" in Chicago, and Jorja is doing a one time 'guest spot' on a Lifetime movie set to air on July 16, called "Drop Dead Diva" and Gary I have no idea, no news is good news, or does any other fan know what he's doing right now? But I'll bet their all on board with the CSI movie, that'll be sepctatular:bolian:I hope at least two of these people will be on S/10 of CSI~
