I don't even understand half of the song yet... well let's hope I get hit with a reindeer so I get an idea :guffaw:

I would like an extension... I really want to write my story but I didn't find the time till now to really sit down and write :(

I definitly want to join this challenge round... I have a story in my head... now if my aunt would leave me alone long enough to write it down :shifty:

I'm nearly finished my story but a little bit of an extension would be nice.. :thumbsup:

My muse kept jumping between three different story ideas, but I've settled on one and it should be done very soon.. Okay so I said that to myself a week ago but I got my exam results back and there was some celebrations to be had :beer: and I'm way too excited to write anything between now and Monday because thats when I find out if I've gotten into college.. :hugegrin:

But I promise to have it done around Tuesday or Wednesday.. I can't wait to read what everyone else has written.. :) *Runs around excited*

Okay...I will give one more week to turn the stories in...and in exchange, I want more stories!! :lol: I really hope this will be helpful and that some people can finish up and get something in. It's the first time we've allowed an extension, so please try to use the time to come up with something, even if it's just a little something. :)

Reminder....stories are due today by midnight Eastern time! :) I know several of us used this extra week to work on something, so I'm excited to see what people have come up with!

Question...do you all still want the stories to be anonymous when they are posted? Or do you think we should just go ahead and post them with the authors' names? Reason I ask is that recently it seems some have been uncomfortable reviewing their own story before the authors are revealed.

Just an idea. Let me know your thoughts! :)

Well.... I like them to be anonymous because I like to guess who wrote what :D

Yeah, reviewing your own story is weird but then you don't have to be real critical in your own review... I never am ;) As long as you write something for it it's okay and it's not a big deal.

I won't get my story done in time I guess :( I tried really hard to write it down but it was just so hard :(

I feel bad now because I was asking for this challenge and now I won't even submit a story :(

Ladies and gentlemen, presenting round 14 of the Nick Fic Song Challenge! Thanks to everyone who participated! :)


Here are a few guidelines for reading and reviewing:

1. Remember, for now the stories are anonymous. Please do not reveal which story you wrote. We will unveil the authors next Sunday, September 5.

2. Story authors/participants - Please leave feedback for each story. That's why we're doing this...so we can learn from each other and improve as we go along. And because this is anonymous for now, please remember to leave some feedback for your own story too. :)

3. Lurkers - You are most welcome to read and review the stories too! We just ask that you follow and respect the guidelines here as well. The exception is that you may leave reviews for as few or as many stories as you like. (Authors - Please do not take offense if a lurker reviews only one or two stories or does not review yours.)

4. Please make your feedback as positive and constructive as possible. Constructive means that it's meant to be helpful and it's said in a nice way. There will be zero tolerance for meanness here from anyone.

5. Please try to make your feedback a little more than just "Good job" or "Nice story". We all look forward to hearing some thoughtful input on our work. :) And for now let's focus on the content of the story more so than the format, grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc. For some people this is their first fic and/or English may not be their first language, and those are all things that a good beta could fix if this weren't a challenge. :)

6. Feedback should be posted here in this thread and can be done all in one post or in several posts.

7. Remember, we aren't voting for favorites on this or anything. We're just reading, reviewing, and enjoying! :)

8. Attention readers! Feedback posts will probably contain spoilers. If you do not want to be spoiled, do not read the feedback until after you read the stories.

Ok, I thought I'd do something totally different and be the firs to review. :thumbsup:

I know, I know, don't be shocked. :eek: :lol:

These are really great stories and so different. Great job, everyone! :D

Drinks at the Diner - I really liked this take on Nick's college fund for Eli. It would have been nice to have a scene like this on CSI. Nick's right family does, or whether, it should take care of each other. Very nice take on the song. I love the last line with Nick telling Tina to just 'let it go'. Yeah, sometimes you just have to. I know from personal experience that 'letting go' of something is one of the most freeing feelings you'll ever feel. Great story!

Rescue - Interesting take on the song, as well. Reminds of Nick talking about the pifflings. Now maybe we know where he got his knowledge instead for just watching the Discover Channel all the time. ;) I like the little back story of him with this Grandpa. Nice. Good story.

It Only Takes One - That was cute, but isn't that how it happens? All it takes is one person singing or humming a song and slowly, everyone starts doing it. And yes, it's always Sanders fault. :) And yes, when I see this song and the name I keep singing the Superman song from Three Doors Down. :) In fact it is now going through my head. :shifty: Thanks. :p :lol:

Just in case anyone is wondering that getting a song stuck in your head is called an 'earworm' and the two cures are: hearing the whole song or getting someone else to start humming/singing it. ;)

Ordinary Hero: Wow, that was a really great story. I thought it was just going to be about Nick and his back at the ranch and then, surprise, there was more. I really really liked this story. I've read so many fanfics concering 'Grave Danger' and more often than not, Nick's dad was cold and stern. It's so nice to see this isn't so here. It is obvious that Nick and his father have a very special relationship and it comes shining through here. ETA: I like how Nick's dad is this powerful man, yet is so gentle with his youngest son. Great job! And yes Nicky, you're gonna be just fine. :)

Who Saves Superman? - Yeah, who does save him? Personally, I think it's Catherine. I think she's there for Nick because we have seen that in the past. I really liked this story. Nick is Superman even if he doesn't think he is. I must say that Nick handled Hodges great. Just goes to show you his supervisory skills. Well, at least Superman will have two other people looking after him. Great story! :)

Heroes and Ghosts - That was sad and poignant. I like this take on Nick and Hayley. Nick's mom is right, sometimes they fall through the cracks and sometimes they don't want to be helped. Hayley could have asked Nick for help at anytime, but who knew her 'mother' would kill her. I mean her adoptive mother took out her hurt and anger towards Hayley's biological mother, which is wrong. It's not Hayleys fault. I know Nick would beat himself up over it, as we saw. I like how you have her voice there helping keep Nick in check, even at the crime scene. Very nice touch! Great story!

Okay, I'm going to read and post reviews before reading Speedy's reviews so I'm not spoiled! :lol:

Drinks at the Diner - Mmmmm...Nick's eyes. :adore: I think you nailed it when you said he gets suspects to confess by looking at them with those "understanding eyes". And I think, even tho we didn't see this type of a scene on the show, it's exactly what Nick would have done...simple, no fuss. I also like how you make it so he isn't really that much in touch with Tina and Eli. I think that's much more realistic than thinking that he would be closer to them. Good job!

Rescue - "My hamsters are happy!" :lol::adore: Love it! This is a very sweet story. I like how you've paralleled the child's experience with the grown up's. And him remembering his grandfather's advice fit in well. You wrote their relationship very well. Nice job!

It Only Takes One - Funny! In interesting and different take on the song theme. :lol: I really like how the song hopped from one person to the next and so on. And now, thanks to you, I have ALL of the Superman songs stuck in my head! Good job!

Ordinary Hero - I love the relationship as shown here between Nick and his father. :) We read so many stories with his mother, it's nice to get a glimpse of this relationship. Even tho we haven't seen or heard a lot about his family on the show, I like to think that the relationship is close as illustrated here. Nice job!

Who Saves Superman? - Oh Nick, always worried about everyone but yourself. :) Very true to character here. I especially like the part about him checking on the lab rats after Warrick's death. Hodges as well is in character, especially his pretending with Nick that nothing is wrong. Good job!

Heroes and Ghosts - Wow! Poor Nick. :( I like how you have Haley's voice haunting him long after the case was over. I think you're right...it's not something that would have gone away easily. I love the references to his childhood too. Nick job!
