Yeah, that was Crate & Burial:
"I work 24/7. I have no time for my friends. My daughter rarely sees me having any fun. And, all of a sudden, she doesn't want a party."

It would just be nice to see them - any of the CSIs - interact on a semi-regular basis with someone who isn't work-related or family.

Regarding the casting director comments - Marg has really been the only one on CSI who has continued to keep herself in the movie "mainstream". She's kept her name out there with great, but small (and very noticeable) roles in major movies. As far as carrying the series, she's the one in the cast who definitely could. She basically carried China Beach (along with Dana), and how many people thought a show like that - mainly about women in the war - would do as well as it did in the late 80s/early 90s.

I'm glad that Marg gets to work for other projects other than CSI. Some of the character she has played are quite the plain Jane kind of women instead of the glamorous kind like Catherine (Donna Jensson comes to mind immediately). And according to the synopsis of her upcoming film Columbus Day, she isn't pretty in the film, either. That just proves that she isn't just another pretty face on the screen, but we all know that already. LOL. Anyway, it's cool to know that her talent and hard-work are recognized by other people in the business. :)

Don't forget - "frosted pink" (to include Marg), showing on ABC sunday afternoon. the info. Should be a fabulous show. Heart and Marg on the same show *thud*

I enjoyed reading that, truly because I do believe that Marg has the best chance of staying in the spotlight. Marg is the one that seems to have identified with schools etc across the country - and Marg is the one who has been interacting with fans while still keeping her charity work as well.

In this way, I tend to liken her with Mariska Hargitay, who is also doing charity work and is often praised for her work outside the business.

I also was interested to note this with what the casting director said:

I'm sorry to tell you that she does not think any of the other actors could fill those shoes.

She said that as far as careers beyond CSI, one of the challenges is that both the public and the entertainment industry tend to "lock" people into a character and that this is even more true for supporting cast actors. They are character sctors and they get locked into that identity; the industry will cast them again and again as the same type. They have to really work to break through that.

She can't ever predict how someone's career will go but she felt that they all have the advantage of being so well known and well liked thanks to CSI. That helps. Even if they're in a movie that stinks, their fans will see it and that will boost it.

The thing about Marg is that I think she's so recognisable. The kids I tutor hear me rabbit on about CSI and I mention Marg Helgenberger and they go "She plays Catherine, right? The blonde one?"

I always remind them she's a redhead, but it's good to see that she is quite noticable.

I also think that being well liked as a person is important too. I mean, if I was a casting director, I'd probably want to hire someone that I thought was nice as well as talented, as opposed to someone who was an ass to work with.

Here's a possibility for Marg -
There's a new CBS show on after CSI this week (10/18):
Viva Laughlin
"Irrepressible entrepreneur Ripley Holden has a dream: He wants to open a casino in Laughlin, Nevada. His mad vision starts to come up craps, however, when the body of his ex-business partner is found at his club, sparking a murder investigation interrupted every now and then by contemporary musical numbers that advance the story and sometimes comment on the action.
Even at home, Ripley faces pressures from Natalie, his frustrated wife; Cheyenne, the rebellious teenage daughter who seeks his approval; and son Jack, who desperately wants to work alongside his dad."

There's a murder so maybe Cath/Marg could do a cameo. :D Eventually maybe even migrate over. The cast includes Hugh Jackman, Melanie Griffith and Madchen Amick. Sounds interesting.

I'd like to see that. Not nessicariy a cross-over but maybe a Guest Apperance.

I want to see Marg do a comedy myself. Something along the lines of Cybil that starred her husband Alan Roseburg. Or Something like The New Adventures of Old Christine.

What does everyone else think?

Marg would fit in perfectly in the Women's Murder Club that premiered on ABC last friday. They've got a cop, medical examiner, Assistant DA, and reporter in their little circle of friends. They could use a CSI ;). If I remember correctly, it's set in San Fransisco, so not too much of a stretch. It was so eerie. One of the first scenes of the show, Angie Harmon's character, Lindsay (the cop) is on the roof saying "I want to know if that's impact or cast-off blood spatter". My mind immediately turned to Catherine.

But yeah, I'm with you Heather. I'd LOVE to see Marg in a comedy again. A comedy SERIES. Not just the one-shot movie like Giving up the ghost (Which is so cute)

Viva Laughlin's a musical, there you go, Marg can sing! I could totally see her in that show.

I was about to post that too kaylyne. Catherine would fit in that group of gorgeous and stylish crime-solving experts, lol.
However, I read nasty diva stories about the cast there.. not so sure if I'd want Marg to work with them.

I'd love to see her doing comedy too.

Was Marg in the Frosted Pink event? It was taped last week (October 6), and I didn't see her in the pictures.

I watched it today... Very disappointing, but I didn't see her.

Watching Desperate Housewives... Love that show. How cool if Marg was on there? I think I'd pretty much die...

Duets with Hugh Jackman, winner of the 2004 Tony for best actor in a musical. Works for me. ;)

Definitely a comedy. That'd be fun. I love her in drama, but she is such a talented comedy actor - I don't think she's realised her potential in that area yet.

I'd love to see Marg in anything other than CSI, lol! :D

Speaking of crossovers and other shows, I found this article from last year, the actor from Without a Trace, Eric Close, has a crush on Marg. He thinks she's such a babe.. Too bad I don't think he'll be able to work with her.

How cute. But, I thought it was common knowledge that EVERYONE has a crush on Marg. ;) Some just don't know it yet. :D

Hahaha I totally agree, kay. It's really common that everyone has a crush on our gal. She's just lovely like that. :D But yeah, it's a shame that we most certainly won't get to see Marg and Eric share scenes in the crossover.

LOL I almost typed "Marg and Erica". :D

^^^LOL Marg and Erica I'd love to see that

I found that on the WAT boards, I was looking for the articles and stuff about the CSI/WAT the crossover. All of the WAT fans love Marg and they're wishing she'll have scenes with the WAT cast.. but they're bummed out cuz it looks like Grissom's the only one going to NY.
