Manno Man... El was in the house and the kitchen was open?
That's wath ya get from not popping in time, Jools *slaps*...
. M'dear, El's Kitchen is always open, whether I'm in da house or not. You know that. Perhaps it's been so long I need to collectively re-extend the standing open-invitation to everyone
. Best tunes around, and it's well stocked. I'm rarely home to eat or drink the stuff I buy .
It *has* been a long time since you were here. *waves*.
. *waves back*. Howzit

I wonder too whether Aubrey ordered the pastrami because Mac suggested it. Maybe, or maybe she just shares his enthusiasm for it.
it stuck with me too. but i was watching it again from the uk transmission on sat and i hadn't noticed before (i have no idea why) that aubrey ordered exactly what mac kind of told her to. sort of. he basically said he went there despite the crowds because the pastrami was worth it, and then she orders a pastrami sandwich. i wonder if she would've ordered that anyway or whether she liked the look of him (well, i guess we know that) and decided to try his recommendation. hmm....
I thought the pastrami stuff was a rather overt and fun cyclical scene cap, and more superficially conversational than a suggestion . Especially as he'd had his order already. I doubt she went in for pastrami, but seemed happy enough to try it. It musta been halfway decent too or she wouldna written him the note, woulda kept to her original plans of leaving the city had it turned out to be a crappy meal at a crowded cutthroat deli .
Aubrey does seem open and willing to trying new things. Dunno how long she'll be implied as being around, but if she's able to bring that out a bit in Mac, that would similarly be a very good thing.

I think this food stuff brings out a more personal side to Mac, as well as strengthening the idea of him as a man with firm ideas and loyalty, even down to the food he likes to eat. I'd like to see Aubrey (or anyone, actually, but perhaps she's the best placed) to take him out and introduce him to new foods/eating establishments.
One does get the impression he's a fella with a pretty set routine, at least on the shortlist of things he can manage daily, like food, and apparently wardrobe, within the whirlwind of all the surrounding stuff he otherwise has to respond to instead.
He also knew the diner waitress girl well, (who's BF was the perp), so he does seem to favor a few select places. Not to mention he memorized Phil's take out menu ten years ago. That said. He was at least aware of whatever the new place was that Aubrey mentioned. That's a good sign at least .
The real test? Seeing if their taste in pizza toppings is compatible . Hey, toppings of choice sez a lot about a person

I think the rare depictions of food in NY have always been fun. Whether it's Stella teasing Mac about canoles, or Flack about hotdog vendors, or showing Sheldon chowing down in the break room (and Mac teasing him him for a change). It would be fun to see more of that side of Mac surface from time to time.
I have high hopes for the upcoming Mac/Adam scenes myself

By the way, Claire Forlani will not turn the series in May. She has cried off. Unfortunately, therefore she would have time for CSI Ny. We do not want to hope it which comes back they for durable.
This would be the news that both she and Thomas Haden Church are no longer involved with Matt LeBlanc's Episodes show. Well. Doesn't necessarily indicate Forlani could be making a true return to NY as a recurring, and I expect she also has other work lined up, even if it was scheduled further down the line. It may mean, however, that she is available to have the resolution of Mac's drama play out in a more extended fashion if TPTB really wanna draw that stuff out more than they would have otherwise.
The crazy time also begins again. I think internal pilot screenings have already started, and the week of May 17 should bring in news on upfronts. As it relates here, it would include news on whether whether Hart Hanson's Pleading Guilty for Fox will be picked up, and what that could mean for Amick's availability as well, should NY ever have been contemplating having her make a S7 appearance at all.
