ilh214 you should have seen them at my first fic, they were taking out their aggression on Stetler.
And I never wanna say goodbye
But girl you make it hard to be faithful
With the lips of an angel
Yelina leaned into his touch. It was something she had always yearned for. In the past when they flirted there were times they were physically so close, but he never afforded her his touch till tonight. Horatio's touch was both electrifying and soothing. He drew her into his arms and she hugged him in the same way she had when they had parted a year ago. They held each other for a long time, both needing the closeness and comfort.
When they parted they found themselves looking into each others' eyes. No words were needed. They both understood they had too much resposibility to the people around them to throw it away to be together. Horatio knew that he couldn't expect her to leave Ray for him, just as she wouldn't expect him to leave Marisol for her.
They both knew that they only had this one night to taste the forbidden. They leaned towards each other for a kiss. A long, deep kiss. Horatio felt like he had kissed the lips of an angel.
It's really good to hear your voice say my name
It sounds so sweet
Coming from the lips of an angel
Hearing those words it makes me weak
Yelina broke the kiss, gently pushing him away. "We shouldn't do this Horatio.... at least I now know what it's like." Her eyes glistened with tears.
Horatio bowed his head. He hated to see her this way. He knew her heart had to be aching as badly as his. Hearing her say his name again was almost unbearable.
"If there's anything I can do, set things right for you and Ray, make sure he wouldn't hurt you again..." Horatio offered.
"I didn't come here expecting you to fix things for Ray and me. I came here to see you."
"I understand." Horatio replied, wishing there was more he could do for her.
"I have to be on the morning flight back to Rio. Ray Jr needs me."
Horatio nodded. They had their duties to fulfil.
"Just stay with me tonight, till I have to go." she asked.
"Ok." He took her hand and they took a slow walk by the water's edge.
The spent the hours they had left together, walking, reminesing old times, sharing smiles and laughter. And all too soon the dawn came.
Horatio stood up, dusting the sand off his pants. He offered a hand to her and she took it. He helped her to her feet.
"I have to go." Yelina said, the pain and regret visible in her eyes.
And I never wanna say goodbye
But girl you make it hard to be faithful
With the lips of an angel
"I don't want to say goodbye." Horatio said.
"Neither do I... but we have to... we need closure of some sort."
"That's not possible." Horatio admitted. Yelina knew he was right.
"We'll always have tonight to remember." Yelina reminded him.
"I will never forget it."
They embraced again. Both knew they would have to let go eventually.
Still holding her, Horatio said, "You take care. If Ray gets out of hand, or you need anything..."
"I know." Yelina said into his shoulder. "You take care too."
And I never wanna say goodbye
But girl you make it hard to be faithful
With the lips of an angel
They reluctantly broke their embrace, still holding hands. At that moment, Horatio thought he could hear their hearts breaking. He would give up everything he had to be with her, but he knew it wasn't possible. He wanted to give her all the hapiness possible but it wasn't meant to be.
"Don't be a stranger." Horatio offered her a sad smile.
"I'll write you." Yelina said.
Horatio nodded. The sun was already up. Horatio could see the tears falling from her eyes. He had trouble holding back his. Not wanting her to see him cry he hid his eyes behind his sunglasses.
She turned and walked up the beach. Her hand slipped from his grasp as the distance between them increased.
"Yelina!" He called to her.
She turned to look at him.
"I love you." He finally had the courage to say it.
Yelina smiled. She had known all along. "I love you too."
Horatio's last image of Yelina was of her getting in to cab. As the cab sped away, Horatio felt his hear break into a million pieces. Deep down inside he was glad that Yelina had called that night. He would always treasure that night as he had promised her.
Honey why you calling me so late?
