This is something I've always wondered: is the lab and the morgue in the same building as the police department? I've never been able to figure out the geography. Thanks.

I thought they were all connected, I figure the morgue is downstairs, most morgues are, and the lab looks like it's connected to the police station, I mean Brass's office is definitely near the lab. Very interesting that, I mean you see them walking around the lab, wait yes they must be because the waiting rooms for both are the same, right?

according to the Ultimate: CSI book (which does have a few errors throughout) -
"CSI Headquarters -
located near the morgue and down the block from the LVPD station, CSI HQ is centrally positioned so that on-call investigators can easily travel between the labs, an autopsy, and an interrogation at a moment's notice. The building is closed to the public, which helps to keep information secure and the staff focused."

So they are separate buildings then? I always thought the interrogation rooms and waiting rooms were near both CSI and PD. Someone needs to watch every single episode and take notice of the layout, then draw out a map... I'm afraid I won't be volunteering, but if anyone wants to lol.

On one of the DVD extras (can't remember which one right now) they do a detailed tour of the police station. There may be one of the lab too...not sure...but in any case, it's definitely a different building (on the show, I mean...not the sets).

the Ultimate: CSI book has layouts of the crime lab, PD, and the morgue as to how each place is set up, but it doesn't show where each is in relation to the other buildings. I've scanned the lab layout:


and notice how Ecklie's office is stuck in the back corner?! LOL

I never knew they had a drying room....have they ever had a scene in their before?

In "$35K OBO" Warrick and Sara are in there and he says it freaks him out. Not sure why it does. I'll have to check that episode out again and see if it's freaky looking. :eek:

ETA: Watched the episode. It looks kind of like a locker room with clothes racks. Didn't seem that freaky to me. Sara said it was peaceful. Okay. :)

Oh, and I noticed that Brass called Nick "Nicholas" in one scene.

I can't remember. Has Grissom ever shot anyone? And where exactly does he wear his gun when he's in the field?

I don't believe he ever has. Catherine has shot two people that I remember, one being the Strip Strangler who was about to kill Grissom. I suppose he wears the gun all the time, but there was one time when he told Nick and Warrick to get their guns out but he didn't pull one...so, I don't know. Another time, Brass asked him, "Are you wearing your gun?" and then told him to get it out. The first time he ever pulled it was in "Who Are You?" to save Nick.

There you have the extent of my "Grissom and His Gun" knowledge. :lol:

The only other two times I can recall Grissom drawing his weapon was in Jackpot and I believe it was Viva Las Vegas. As for wearing it, I can't recall ever really seeing it sitting on his hip. Not like with Nick, Cath or Warrick where you can plainly see it.

Thanks for the info, folks! Yeah, I can't find any photos of him wearing it either. Maybe I need to track down a copy of "Who Are You?"
