Home - (H/Y)

Horatio arrived promptly at Yelina's old residence at nine that night. He was a bundle of nerves. He took a breath to compose himself. It was only dinner, nothing more. He couldn't shake his feeling of guilt. He rang the door bell. It had been too long since he'd been on that doorstep. Yelina answered the door.

Horatio (smiling and shifting his weight nervously): Hi.
Yelina: Hi. Come in.

Yelina ushered him in. There was new furniture, but the place still felt familiar, almost like home he thought.

Horatio: Where is everybody?

Yelina closed the door behind Horatio and stared longingly at his back for a moment before responding.

Yelina: Ray Jr. is with my mom. Raymond is...not here.

Horatio turned to face Yelina, a curious look on his face. Yelina then knew that she had to tell Horatio what Little Brother had done whilst in Rio.

Horatio: Not here? What do you mean?
Yelina: He is...at an hotel room right now. I'm...not really speaking to him right now.

Things started to dawn on Horatio. Raymond went back to his old ways? Got into a drug habbit again? He didn't want to jump to conclusions but part of him knew his little brother too well.

Yelina motioned him to the couch and they sat side by side.

Horatio: Not talking to him? He did something didn't he?

Yelina said nothing but wore a bitter smile on her face. She nodded.

Horatio (concerned): Yelina, what did he do?

Yelina threw her arms into her lap in frustration. She didn't want to cry in front of him, but she felt as though she would explode into tears at any moment.

Yelina: Raymond...was being Raymond again.
Horatio: What did he do, Yelina?

Yelina bit her lip. Stay strong, she told herself.

Yelina: He...slept around...again.

Anger welled up in Horatio. He couldn't believe his brother would do something so stupid again. Not after he'd been given a second chance with Yelina. Horatio balled his fists in anger. Part of him wanted to comfort Yelina and another part of him wanted to confront Ray.

Horatio: Yelina... I'm so sorry.

He fought the urge to reach out and pull her into his arms.

Yelina: It's not your fault. You sent us there for a fresh start...
Horatio: It's not your fault either. Where is he? Is he back in Miami? I'll talk some sense into him.

Yelina knew that once something had irked Horatio the way it did now, trouble would soon find its way into the equation. She wished then that she had not said anything.

Yelina: Yes. He's here, but he's in an hotel. I refuse to let him go near me right now.
Horatio: How could he do this to you? After all I did, all that I went through, just so you two could be happy together...
Yelina: Like I said, Horatio, it's not your fault. I guess he didn't learn from his mistakes the first time.

Horatio quickly stood up, but was quickly brought back down on the couch by Yelina, who wanted desperately for him to stay with her.

Yelina: Horatio, please. You can deal with Raymond later. Let's just...talk...

Horatio took a breath. He needed to calm down. Yelina probably needed him more than anything then. He would confront Raymond later. It took a moment for his mind to register that her hand was tightly clasped round his. His face turned a shade of red.

It felt so right, and yet so wrong. He had always craved contact with her. And now guilt washed over him.

Horatio: I'm sorry.

He sensed her sadness.

Horatio: I know you wanna talk. I'm listening.

Yelina looked right into Horatio's eyes, needing for him to fess up to his true feelings for her. She had finally had enough of the tension that plagued what could have already been a relationship for the two of them.

Yelina: When are we going to talk about...us?
Horatio: Us?
Yelina: Who else would I be referring to?

The look on Horatio's face as he ducked his head and avoided her gaze said it all: he's going to chicken out once again.

Yelina: Horatio...when are we going to be 'us'?

Horatio's heart pounded wildly in his chest but his face remained that of mild panic. Yelina had clearly moved on from Ray, and he didn't blame her. But how was he to explain that things were a little impossible betwen them at that moment. Their timing was always off. When he thought he was ready to move on with Yelina, Ray showed up alive again. And now this.

Horatio: Yelina... I er... about 'us'... there can't, there can't be an 'us'.

Oh Horatio, you ..... You love Yelina she loves you. Do something about it!

Noo! I'm so used to smut I've gotten used to it, and now the angst hurts. It hurts.

You know you want it, H. Great job guys!

Yelina felt as if every ounce of oxygen were sucked from her body. She wanted more than anything to let all of the years of frustration out, but she feared it would be too much for her.

Yelina: What? What did you say?
Horatio: I, uh...I've...met someone. Actually I haven't just met them, I've known them for quite a while...
Yelina: Since when?
Horatio: It was after I sent you guys to Brazil. I didn't think...that I would see you again.

This was not enough for Yelina. She knew deep down inside that he still loved her.

Yelina: Horatio, what's going on between you and this other woman? And what about these feelings between us?
