I SURVIVED SWINE 09!!!

I had swine flu, my best friend has it now, and I lived :D I have to say you NEVER feel worse than you do with swine...it's NOT fun, but it's no different than a bout of regular flu.

NO vaccines here- I don't believe in them...cause more harm than good...check this article out from my Aunt a D.C. Hope nobody here gets it, and if you do, feel better SOON! <3

The H1N1 swine flu vaccines currently being given to schoolchildren in America were approved by the FDA using an unlawful waiver that allowed the vaccines to be approved with absolutely no credible scientific testing. No adequate safety or efficacy testing has been conducted on any of the swine flu vaccines, and those children who are being injected with the vaccines are being treated as human guinea pigs.

They aren't giving out any vaccines here except to the "priority group" which is like, pregnant woman, and babies and stuff, since they don't have even close to enough of it.

Our next door neighbour had it, he was delirious and everything. They took him to the hospital and got it confirmed. They quarantined him in their basement because they have a little baby, and his dad had to wear a mask to go down and give him pills and all.

My brother was really sick a week ago too and since he's in the same class as my neighbour we think he probably had it, but not as bad. Also it said on our news channel that even though it's not getting confirmed for everyone (obviously) that most of the people getting sick around now do have H1N1 because it's not even the normal time for the regular flu yet.

Anyways, none of my other family members or I have gotten sick yet so we probably won't even bother getting the shot. And since we can't get it anytime soon anyway, we'll either get sick before we can get the shot, or we won't get it at all.
 
My daughter's father had it and it wasn't too bad for him. But now she's sick and the doctor told us it was too soon to tell.

She's miserable though.
 
I got the regular flu vac but not this one, I had the chance to get it, and I would fall into the catagory, as does my father but we both put it off as we feel though we fall into the catagories of need it. We did so because we felt that others (kids, pregnancy, oxygen, etc) needed it more and we could wait.

We take the precautions, Lysol (sprays, wipes, potty cleaner, so on and so on), antibactierial soap (Soft soap), hot water, (I don't care for the hand gels feel sticky), plenty of fluides, veggies, etc.

If it comes out at my docs office and he believes that it is really necessary, or there is plenty then we will get it.

I remember hearing one time I think it was fox news, could have been CNN that some parents wanted to hold H1N1 parties, sort of the chicken pox, etc parties where people cram into one room with a person who has it then they all get it and then they go through it together and then get over it and be immuned to it. Not sure if they ever did it, but it was advised on the news segment not to do it, as it could be worse.
 
The problem is that you have to wait about a month after you have the regular shot to get the H1N1 shot.

I'm not sure about the vaccine not being tested. I'm googling, and I can't find anything concrete. I do know if I had a kid, I would do my best to make sure he or she got one without Mercury in it.

Really, Vaccination is only one avenue to deal with the flu. Even the H1N1. The best thing is just to take universal precautions, like not picking your nose or rubbing your eyes, using a tissue to wipe/blow your nose, hand washing, including Hand Sanitizers, wiping down commonly used surfaces with antibacterial wipes or bleach water, and not going out if you're sick.

The precautions mentioned above are pretty much good for everything. Colds, Flu, and even the Pinkeye, which is a lot more common than people would suspect. Having had the pinkeye, it's awful, and just as bad, if not worse than the flu.

So I do consider it as a normal flu also because of the symptoms.....

this, basically. i'm quite surprised to suddenly be hearing from people i know in the us and canada that swine flu mania is only just taking off. here in the uk we've had every little sniffle rammed down our throats by our nannyist government and hysterical media for months. what bothers me is this:

1 - there are new strains of flu every year. some worse than "normal" flu, some less, there isn't usually this panic, even though i'm sure some strains have been just as bad

2 - getting everyone worked up just causes unnecessary panic, suddenly people think every time they sneeze that they're about to drop dead (ok, ok, i realise men do this anyway... ;) ) - good government is about preventing panic, not creating it (although i suppose since blair and bush rewrote the rulebook on the politics of fear that might be irrelevant).

3 - so called "normal" flu kills more people annually just in the uk than swine flu has killed globally so far. where is the concern about preventing normal flu? where is the concern for health and safety measures, for preventative measures in public, especially hospitals, any normal year when flu is just as deadly? the global death toll from swine flu as of today is just above 6000 - which really is very very low. sadly i can't find stats on the usual uk flu death toll because if you try to search on that you only get results for swine flu, which just proves my point about mass hysteria.

i usually get a flu jab as a matter of course because my medical conditions allegedly make me high risk or some such crap. this year i forgot to get it and now i'm kinda glad, because i feel like i've made a stand against the idiotic hysteria of governments the world over. or something. probably something ;)

quite frankly, i don't give a crap if it kills me, and as for it kiliing others - until and unless it reaches the proportions of spanish flu in 1918-1919, i am not going to be worried.

I had my regular flu shot at the end of sept. There was a tv news show (It might have been local for me) that talked about how it was tested and all that, if you want I can look it up and find it. See if they have video on it.

I'm not getting the big panic either. It feels like West Nile and SARS all over again, except West Nile actually made me sad because it wiped out most of the crows in the DC area. Still, neither ended up actually killing many people.

My brother got swine flu a few weeks ago. It sucked, and he sure didn't feel great, plus it really messed up his cross-country season. Still, it wasn't that bad -- definitely not that different from the flu. The fact that it seems to mainly hurt us younger people seems like a good thing if anything, since the elderly (more 70/80+) tend to have worse immune systems. Young people are more likely to be healthy enough to fight it off. My school also got quite a few cases (I'd like to say it was over 100). People were blaming it on the Harvard "eating club" and MIT frat boys :lol: At least one of my friends was stuck on quarantine. Still, it all seemed like a bit of an overreaction.

^ yeah, i know a few people that have had it. they got flu, they felt like crap for a couple of weeks, they got better. whoopdedoo.
 
Here it's been huge fuss about vaccines, because they make priority groups. I could get shot next week if I want, but won't take it. In bigger cities, there has been chaos in health care centres and nurses have been threated because they've been sometimes out of vaccines.

And all because of media causin the hysteric athmosphere.

Earlier this week there was big headlines for 8-year-old girl dying because of swineflu. Well, kid had pneumonia at the same time. And this was the case where hospital really screwed up because they refused to take her in ( well I do understand people overreacting and docs being really busy but still)

Both deaths that Finland has had, they've had some other serious illness as well.
 
Well it's confirmed, my daughter has it. I was planning to take us to get our shots and then she got sick.

Thankfully, the Tamiflu was free thank to a government the Republican love to bash..the Liberals..

That's exactly what happened to me. I was going to take them in to the doctor on Wednesday for their annual exam. But my daughter came home from school on Friday with a fever. Saturday I took both of them in, and yep, my daughter has H1N1.

She's on TamiFlu also. But she threw up the first two doses. Did that happen to your daughter myfuturecsi?
 
well, looks like grenada may have caught h1n1 after all. apparently a med professor caught it when he was home in england for two weeks, now he is back on the island and a bunch of med students have gotten sick. i dont know anything for sure, hopefully some people get tested. if it is true i just hope it wont make it difficult going through airports to get home in december.
