In regard to last nights ep, I am forever thankful that Grillows was never made canon. I feel sorry to the poor GSR shippers who had to watch that. I was expecting a lot more from that ep and I'm not even close to being a GSR shipper.
Example, where griss says that Sara will have to report to Catherine on the case. When I heard that, I immedietly thought we were going to get one last great Sara vs. Catherine ordeal. Don't get me wrong; I love it when they got along, but Catherine and Sara have butted heads since day one, so it would have been nice to see them have one last row and reach an understanding. It would have been more interesting to have seen Grissom's reaction to a confrontation, than it was watching him act like an oblivious lovesick dork. Besides, I think regardless of what ship you ship, we all can see that Grissom has always been in the middle of those two.
And there was no real team closure. I would have liked to see a team goodbye.
Plus what happened to the supposed row that greg and sara were supposed to have? I'm glad it didn't happen, but still.
Sorry for rambling. I foolishly expected too much of the writers. I won't be making that mistake again.
Actually, one thing that I found interesting in the ep was that in the scene where Nick and Sara were briefing Catherine and Grissom on the old case with hannah, Grillows is on one side of the table and snickers on the other.

Went and had a look at the GSR thread myself. And that's not cool.
But after how badly they botched the GSR ship with cheesiness and out of character stuff, like I said before, I don't think I'd wanna see GCR canon on CSI anyway. Grrrr....
All I really want in terms of purejoy now that GSR's gone is to have our team chemistry back. Have Gil on cases other than Sara (like... I dunno... Catherine?). We had some pretty hot GC scenes in the first 6 episodes without being canon... We sure has heck don't need it now.

LOL ditto on the reality check. As much as I want it, I really don't think our ship will ever be canon on the show (and frankly, I'm not sure I want these writers to write my ship after seeing how they have handled G/S). I don't mind that, though, as long as they bring back the close friendship between Catherine and Gil. Um so what the show doesn't go my way...it's not the end of the world. I'm not sure what we're being bashed for, I don't go to the G/S thread at all, and I'm not planning to go there just for this. I'm sure one of the mod will step in if it's indeed bashing, or if you really don't feel comfortable about it, you can always report the posts in question to the mods. No point in getting upset with such stuff.
Btw if you're a member of the Yahoo group of the Graveyard Shift Home, there was a fic fest yesterday. 49 fics were posted to celebrate Marg's 49th birthday. Of course our beloved Anne contributed as well (supervisor porn, baby!). I have no idea whether those fics have been posted on the main site, but you can read them in the group.

Not cool at all! We haven't even said anythin! Gawdammit. I think i'd rather keep it in my mind rather than have it played out on screen. Don't think they'd do it right and I don't think Grissom is the kinda man to jump on the next attractive female around the lab. And I wouldn't want Catherine to be second best and I don't think she would either. So yes, lets just keep in it the fics eh?!

You know, if you had asked me if I wanted G/C to become canon in the beginning of September, I probably would have said "Hells yeah." But now, although a small part of me wants it to come true on screen (because it's obviously a huge difference when something is played out in front of your eyes that you've only been imagining and dreaming about), another part of me wants CSI to become what it used to be and that entails bringing back the old dynamic between Grissom and all the other members of the group. This season and the last season, it's all been about the dynamic between Grissom and Sara (and I'm definitely not bashing.) I just feel that the writers need to bring back the old Season 1/2/3/4 touch that we had so come to love. But hey, if the writers can guarantee us that they will not botch up the ship as they had done with GSR, then I'm all for canonization. If Gil comes to the realization that Catherine had been the One, then maybe.

I was never a fan of GSR and I have my reasons for that and I am glad that its over. I certainly do NOT want Catherine and Grissom to get together on-screen. I did at one point, but not anymore. I'd rather see the great friendship that they once had return. I want to see the team actually become a team again. Besides, I wouldn't want Catherine to be his second choice. They both deserve to be each other's first choice. Grissom needs time to heal, what with Sara leaving him. My only hope is that Catherine and the rest of the team can help him move on.
I'll leave the shipping to my head and to fanfics, and maybe, if the time is right, I will support GC canon, if in the unlikely event that it does become canon.

I too think that the loss of Jorja might hurt CSI and she is a real loss to the show. But it was her decision and I wish her all the luck in the world.
Yes, the friendship returning would be absolutly fantastic, and those lil hints of flirts that we used to see. Was nice to hear about the 'Do I know how to turn you on or what?' thing from S8. Maybe the gods of S8 have yet to rain on us!

I'm going to recommend we stop talking GSR or anything related to it, because we don't want to add fuel to their fire. They're clearly in mourning, and we need to give them space.
I do have an interesting question though - do you think Catherine is going to be comforting/not care/be pissed at someone?
She's been through a lot over the years, and lately Gil hasn't been giving her any support. Will that return do you think?

I just realized - if anyone should have been burned out or given up on the job the way Sara did, it should most likely have been Catherine. Eddie killed, Sam killed, Lindsey kidnapped, Cath assaulted at a scene, Cath blowing up the lab, she killed a man (Goggle)etc. She's the one that the most traumatic things have happened to, and should be the most disillusioned by the job. Yet, it was Sara? Then again, the hint they gave for Catherine's possible future at the end of the cross dressing carp episode might suggest that she's also thought about giving up on the job.
That really shows the kind of character Catherine is and why I think she would still be sympathetic to Gil after this Sara ordeal. Plus, look at her relationship with Lindsey - the past few seasons, all we've heard is how angry the girl has become. Look at her relationship with Sam, her relationship with her mom. She isn't the type to give up on people she loves. I have a feeling that Cath will be the one that keeps prodding Gil along in his life, just like she always has.
For some reason, I think Cath will be very supportive of Gil, even though she has very good reasons for being pissed at him. (i.e. his hypocritical ethics, keeping her clueless of his relationship, etc)

This thread did really well when the relationship was revealed in Way to Go and some people laughed at us. I remember being proud of all the PureJoy lovers here for behaving well and keep loving this ship no matter what. I'm sure we can still do well this time.
I have been paying attention to any promo pics from the upcoming episodes, but I haven't seen any. How rude of them! And I assume there will be new opening credits. I wonder what they'll look like. Please don't just cut off Jorja's part. It's time for a new clip anyway.

What makes Gil and Cath's relationship so special, at least to me, is that they might not agree all the time. We have seen that over the seasons, but they will always be there for each other.
Gil is still socially inept when it comes to dealing with people. Catherine is there to help him with that.

Also, I think we all remember that s2 ep where Cath is having a drink at Gil's townhouse and they're talking about Sara. She was there for him then, prodding him to pay closer attention to the people around him. She was ready to console him and tell him that even if he was burned by Sara, that it would be okay and that he would recover and move on. I hope that she'd do the same in this situation, even if circumstances have changed somewhat.
