Should we change the icon size for the challenge?

Ok guys! I cannot believe we are here already. Thanks for all the great challenges in the old thread and let's have many more here!

First the link to the old thread is here.

Next - and this is the big one.....should be change the size of the icons we enter in the challenges to meet the new board guidelines? Well I can see that a lot of people like the new size. It gives you a little bit more room to be creative. However - this is the only board I have personally seen that allows avatars larger then 100x100 and I know LJ only allows 100x100 as well. You are limiting the use of these avatars to this board unless you want to resize them - and that does not always come out very good. A big one for me though - is that the resources on LJ and deviant art (i.e brushes, textures ) provided to make icons are set to a 100x100 size. Yes - in some cases you can resize them for the larger icon....but not always and sometimes the resizing of them makes them look bad. So - in changing the size to 140x140 - we may be limiting the resources for the icon makers.

The LV challenge had the icons made to 120x120 and that seemed to get a positive response....so that is an option as well.

Personnally I like the 100x100... I wouldn't mind doing 120x120 if that wins but I think that 140x140 is too big ;) For challenges especially there is someting about using the small size that just fits :lol:

I agree with Nat...I'm happy with 100x100 - I attempted to make some icons for the LV challenge 120x120 - I guess that'd be okay but 140x140 sounds way too scary lol....My current resources are limited to 100x100 but I do have a couple for the bigger size of 140x140 but seriously for challenges I like 100x100 please ;)

First of all, congrats to all the winners from last challenge and thanks a bunch Kat for that recognition award...

As for the size... I am a wallpaper person, so I would suggest 140x140, also because I usually don't use any 100x100 aids like icon brushes and textures. I know at least 5 other forums where the avatar size is between 140x140 up to 200x200, also in weird combinations like 150x200. So there ARE different icon size out there. LJ just rules the picture cause so many icon makers go there.

Anyways... I do any icon on 200x200 in first place, so I don't care what we will end up on, but I personally feel a upscaling on size a nice idea. :)

I prefer personally for the challenges the old 100 x 100 size because is the icon bigger, is the pic qualitiy of this not so good.
I run at the moment the LV Icon Challenge with 120 x 120 for the first time and I mean I become not so much icons how earlier.

I'll take for the next challenge again the old size. :thumbsup:

I do like 120x120 but 100x100 is nice too. The 140x140 can get a bit hard to work with, as like you stated Kat, the resources are mostly made for 100x100.

I voted for 100x100, but the 120x120, and 140x140, could be fun too, but just once a while.:)

I voted 100x100. I'm Ok with 120x120 since that's the size of the one I'm using but I think 140x140 is too big. The bigger it is the more I want to fiddle with it and I might just miss the deadline because I decide to do one more thing. :rolleyes:

Personally I prefer 100x100, but it wouldn't keep me from entering if you changed the size, though I have to say that 140x140 is too big. I just think that the icons look better when they are sized the old way.

And congrats to last challange's winners ! :D

Even though I don't enter that many challenges I voted for 120x120. I like the larger icons and if I wanted to use one for my avatar I wouldn't have to re-size it.

I prefer 100x100 icons...probably because I'm already used to them but I like them better

For a challenge I really prefer the smaller 100x100 version (120x120 would be OK, too).
I don't know really why, but it's just a good challenge size.

I don't enter those many challenges, neither do I make a lot of icons, but I'd like to give my opinion anyway. Although I've never tried doing 120x120 or 140x140, I really like the usual size, I'm more used to it, and well, I just think it looks good. So I voted for keeping it 100x100 ;)
