So I want to make sure I have this right: We had a shortened season (with only 17 episodes), they're adding the Without A Trace crossover episode (gee, how kind of them), and mini featurettes (probably still no outtakes), a rare deleted scene (which is probably the Griss/Cath one we've all seen already) and the RAISED THE PRICE of the DVD set?

And the cover of the box is of Grissom and only Grissom? Funny, I thought this was an ensemble show. Where is everyone else?

Are these people nuts? That's more money then when we have 24 episodes.

See they give everyone a raise and who pays for it? We do.

Well, it's currently $58.99 on Amazon, so it's not quite as high as the list price to preorder it from them, but I can't believe they'd put such a ridiculous list price on it in the first place.

Whether it's $90.00 or $60.00 They are out of their frickin' minds for 18 episodes counting the WOaT Crossover, only two commentaries, six featurettes, and some deleted scenes.

In other words, we're getting screwed.

Definitely one box set I'm not going to be buying.....at least not until it comes down in price.

Note that on Amazon, a lot of the other shows, even for pre-order are in the range of $40-45.00 for this season.

I certainly hope it doesn't sell, so maybe they'll pull their heads out from where the sun don't shine, and lower the price.

i would partly blame the terribly weak dollar for the increase of the price. also, the fact that CSI is right now the most watched show in the world could be a factor, as well as high costs of production.

but y'all are right, the price is still WAY too high for 17 episodes.

Garbage. I'm not wasting that much money.

For that much, they better bloody-well put the DVD in the machine for me.

*huggles $59.98 Supernatural DVDs for their bonus digital copy for iPod, iTunes, PC-compatible Media Players even PSP at no extra charge, featurettes, - possibly commentaries/deleted scenes - AND a 9-minute blooper reel* And that's retail, not Amazon--which is around $38.00. So for 16 episodes, I'm pretty much getting what I paid for.

And I'm sorry but SPN's 16x9 anamorphic widescreen, Dolby 5.1 surround sound, dubbing in Portuguese, subtitles in Spanish, English, French and Chinese and a release on Blu-Ray sounds better than CSI's '5.1 audio and a Spanish option.'

You'd think with since it's 85 bucks, they'd throw in more than a spanish option.

I know I shouldn't compare but for 17 episodes, they sure didn't throw in a lot for the fans. Maybe the 6 featurettes are super interesting but I've always found CSI's extras quite boring.

I'm managing to get DVDs from an American show that's filmed in Canada--which is more expensive nowadays because of the weak American dollar and it's still 25 bucks cheaper and I'm still getting a blooper reel. (and it's quite a popular show)

I read somewhere that the Grey's Anatomy DVDs are only about 60 bucks and I heard CSI:Miami was around 60 bucks and I also read somewhere that CSI:NY was around $69.00 and those are very popular shows so who even knows if popularity is a factor in DVD pricing. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't but it's still ridiculous to milk that much money ($85.00-$90.00 depending on the GST) out of the fans.

^ i can find one more explanation to this, though. they could've set such a high price in the beginning as a marketing technique, only to lower it greatly after a little while to create an illusion of an amazing bargain price. i don't think they've ever done anything like that with CSI before but shortened season is a unique situation. i guess we'll know after it comes out.

So does anyone know when it will come out in England and what price?

Ok so if its being sold in America for say $52 dollars, then converstion its what £26 pounds...

So is that for the whole season or part one part two each?

Just found Zavvi are selling it for £25 pounds per boxed set/ and Amazon the same. Thats a lot of money for how many episodes wthout the cross over? So really its 16 episodes without the cross over lol...

What a joke that is!!! But we all will buy it cause we love CSI.

well, i did call it. The consumers will be the ones picking up the tab for the extra royalties. A shortened season should be LESS than the normal ones. Screw that, i haven't bought season 7 cause of the GSR storyline, i probably won't buy season 8.

I don't necessarily mind paying as much/more for the shorter season, but there better be some kick ass extras on there.

This one has the crossover, six featurettes, some deleted scenes and two commentaries. That's not enough to interest me in paying $85-90.00 for the season set.

Also, it seems that every star except for WP, Eric and Paul Guilfoyle have done commentaries throughout the seasons. Is it too much to ask for them to do commentaries?

How about a gag reel of outtakes or behind the scenes stuff when they're shooting. IIRC, didn't Gerald McCullogh who plays Bobby Dawson have Some behind the scenes stuff like that on his personal site? I'd love to see something like that on the DVD. Would make up for the high price of even pre-ordering them.

But, hey, we gotta pay for WP's new contract somehow, right?

All I know is that the price better be less then what is quoted. When I purchased season 7 back when it first came out...online sites were quoting the season to be $69 plus, but when I actually got my hands on it, I paid $49 for it.

As someone stated above, for a shortened season, if they want us to pay the price, they better have some kick ass extras on it to make it worth while...if not...I'll be waiting a while for the price to go down before buying.

$60?! Oh man. As much as I love CSI, I just might have to use that to buy my Amarte DVD's instead, out of spite.
