Horatio smiled as Calleigh tried to reassure him about his new fatherhood, though, he still was unsure of himself.
"I never want you to leave my side ever again," he said. He was tired. He closed his sapphire eyes for a little while, keeping his hand wrapped around her small, delicate one the entire time he slept.
Eventually, his eyes fluttered opened. He found that sleep had also claimed Calleigh, as she had laid her head on his bedside. He gently took his hand out from under her hand and gently stroked her hair, hoping he wouldn't wake her. She was beautiful when she slept, and very peaceful.
He thought to himself while she slept. He wondered what kind of father he would be. He wondered if it was going to be a boy or a girl. He also wondered if his child would have gorgeous green eyes and beautiful, blond hair, taking after his mother, or blue eyes and flaming red hair like him. Then, he got nervous again, and slightly insecure about his path towards being a father.
A doctor walked in, interrupting his thoughts and waking Calleigh. He said loudly that Horatio was okay, there will be muscle stiffness in the legs for a while, but he could leave when he was ready to.
"Well, let's get out of here. We can go back to the hotel, if you'd like, or we can go out and do something. It's up to you, Mommy," he said, testing the word's sound. It rolled off of his tongue and it sounded just right.
