Hmmmm ... generally, I think a man would be more inclined to refer to it as a "chain." However, while that term would apply quite well to his dog tags, it doesn't really work for the current necklace. The current one appears to be a braided leather cord and, hence, does not qualify as a "chain." Think he's gonna have to call this one what it is -- a "necklace." But that's just me.
