"Bump and Grind" Discussion **SPOILERS**

Oh man. That was a great episode!

I loved everything about it. The team interaction, the case, all of it. Even the clam chowder carte de crédit. The whole identity theft angle was interesting.

I also liked the whole shred company thing. My dad works for a shred company. Reminded me of that. I should ask him if he's ever found any suspicious ooze...

I really enjoyed everyone in this ep. Brass was as snarky as ever. I loved his jeopardy comment to Ray in the opening when Ray rattles off that bit of unusual trivia. It sounded like he was making fun of Ray.

And I actually laughed out loud when Ray got the kidney bean. I'm sorry. It was funny. Poor Ray...

This whole new Greg/Hodges friendship is kinda throwing me for a loop though. I always viewed them as rivals or something. Mutual antagonists. This whole nicey nice thing has me going :wtf:. Does that mean I have to play nice with DJ now? :p And Hodges seemed a little clingy toward Greg. Greg called him 'H' once, but Hodges took it and ran with 'G'. It was actually kind of... nice.

And poor Greg! I don't know, buddy. You might need that yurt. :guffaw:

And of course Nick with his "We can talk about our feelings." God, that was funny. :guffaw:

Great ep! Great characters. Great case. Just great! :)

I don't think Greg and Hodges are buddies. Where are people getting that? Did I miss something? Hodges kind of hopped onto the "we should go out" or whatever it was, and they were like...um....

And then when Hodges and Catherine were talking and Hodges said something about his haircut and "Greg told you"...he was referring back to the story he told Greg earlier in the episode...not any time off the clock they spent together.

What did I miss?

I've always thought that on some level Hodges was jealous of Greg and that was why he always teased him. Now that Hodges is more vulnerable after Wendy leaving, I think he is trying to just relate to someone and Greg seems to be that person and since G mistakenly suggested that Hodges needs to get out more, Hodges took it as an opening. Since Greg is treating him fairly nice, he is jumping on the bus and hoping to form some kind of actual friendship with him, just to help get over Wendy. And then again after last year's episode Appendicitement, they might have bonded a bit more after that or at least Hodges feeling more comfortable hanging out with the other guys.

I thought I heard Hodges tell Cath that he and Greg hung out together once a week to get Hodges' mind off the Wendy situation. It was before the haircut comment though. It was right after Hodges said something about their "man date".

Well, I'll have to watch it again tonight. I got the impression he was trying to make it look to her like he and "G" were friends, referring to the "date" they talked about earlier when he asked "when?!" and Sara and Greg just looked at each other.

Well, it's possible that he made that up... or I just misunderstood what he said lol. But I don't think Hodges dislikes Greg or has any ill will toward him anymore. I think he's turned his aggression to poor Henry lol.

Yeah I think that was Hodges making up a story to sound "cooler" to Catherine in that he hangs out with Greg once a week. I am not sure I believe it actually happens.

And like I said, I have never thought that Hodges dislikes Greg, I kind of think he was a little jealous of him, simply from when Greg was still in the lab, he was the popular one. I think Hodges was always sort of envious that everyone adored Greg and not him so much. I think now, after all these years, they are all use to Hodges and know how to be around him better.

No no no...that's not what I mean. :) He doesn't dislike Greg. He was wanting to fit in and be a part of the gang, so he's trying to make it look like they are buds. Poor guy. I'm sure he does want to hang out with them. Personally, I think he'd be kind of fun!

The CSI franchise is not known for having great continuity but I have to say that this season they have really stepped up their game in that area. There were some great continuity moments in this episode:

1) Nick and therapy. I loved how concerned Catherine was when she talked about it with him. The "we can talk about our feelings" was quite funny. Between that and the beers I think it might lead to something down the road for Nick like some have mentioned.

2) Ray and the bean. When I saw the postal address I thought "wait, his wife is in prison?? so that's the mystery?" I have to agree that the bean was quite funny .

3) Wendy was mentioned. I'm glad that they are showing Hodges dealing with this and it hasn't disappeared into the black hole of continuity.

4) Doc mentioning Vartann to Cath :). Plus Catherine asking if Hodges opened his mouth... Blood Moon continuity.

5) Sara talking with Ray. I kept thinking about the Min. killer and her being stuck under the car.

6) Grissom was mentioned again.

Good episode overall. Good screentime for everyone.

The way I see it is Greg was playing with Hodges by calling him 'H'. Since Greg's friends have called him 'G' in the past (mainly Nick), Hodges saw this as him being accepted into the 'group' - tying into the jealousy angle Dizzney mentioned. He then ran with it, calling Greg 'G'.

The looks exchanged by Greg and Sara, and Greg's overall reactions to Hodges seems to say that this whole 'friendly' attitude that Hodges is displaying took him off guard, but that he isn't necessarily opposed to it.

The man-date comment could in fact be true. It's entirely possible that Greg, seeing how bad off David is over Wendy, really did offer to have guy nights with him. I do think Greg wouldn't be thrilled by the term 'man-dates', though.

I do see a possible friendship emerging between the two. It only took eight years, but hey...

I agree, I think Hodges would be fun. I mean, he lives with his mom, so what. So did Xander (on BTVS) and he was a pretty cool and fun guy, so...

2) Ray and the bean. When I saw the postal address I thought "wait, his wife is in prison?? so that's the mystery?"

yeah, that was my first thought for like a split second until I thought about LF's wife playing a prison warden in an earlier episode lol. But after that I thought "or is it from Nate" and sure enough. I didn't think the bean was funny myself. I thought it was very cruel of Nate... but then again look at who we're talking about... a psychopath who killed a bunch of people.

I think Greg just kind of understands what Hodges is feeling. Maybe not in the "the girl I love moved away and left me behind" kind of way... but I think Greg felt kind of hurt when Sara left abruptly... and then he was sort of in the process of developing friendships with both Sofia and Riley and they up and left as well. So naturally he'd know that as difficult as those situations were for him, they must be even more so for Hodges considering that Hodges considered Wendy the love of his life.

Have I mentioned how much I love this season? So much better than last.

The case was straight out of 'old school' CSI. Flashes to Got Murder, Spark of Life, and Recipe for Murder come to mind. All about the body in the shredder. Awesome.

Love Sara and the boys working together. Hodges didn't want out in the field if I remember, but now that's what's keeping him sane? AWWW. Poor guy.

Catherine and Doc's convo was sweet. I actually liked the fact that it was Doc telling her that. Someone who has had a run in with the detective in the past but knows what a good guy Vartann is and how good he will be for/with Catherine. The only other person I could see Catherine having that convo with would be Sara.

I am with you though Kay, I would like to see Vartann work a case without Cath, perhaps in a Marg-less episode. Or be in an episode and work a case without her.

Sara's comment also about passing ships was a throw back to GSR. Not my favorite pairing but it does prove that Sara did struggle with her feelings for Grissom and their relationship wasn't easy. And now she can give the same advise to Hodges.

Sara wasn't always my favorite character, especially after she and Gil 'got together', but last season and now this one, I am liking her more and more. :)

Ray's reaction to the kidney bean threw me off too. I didn't expect him to be so volitile. I guess that's what Haskell does to him.

Poor Greg, being the victim of identity theft. It's scary of how often and how easy it is.

I really loved the team members interaction. Cath's comment to Hodges about his hair cut. Hodges to Greg about Science Camp.

The Nick/Cath convo was very sweet. She might have a good man in Vartann, but she is still very protective of Nicky. I like that about their relationship.

Of course I'm going to watch again, to pick up any details I missed. But this season is awesome so far. Episodes like this will make Season 11 one of my favorites.

I know this has probably been said before, but this season and the last have really lacked a cutting edge. I almost had to skip this latest episode because it was so dull.

I used to be a massive CSI fan but I think losing Warrick and Grissom has really hit CSI hard. Bringing back Sara was a big mistake, and Catherine looks as horrible as ever.

Hodges is irritating and is clearly not in a clique unlike the others. Archie is still his old likeable self, and obviously Nick has redeemable qualities but there's just a gaping hole left in the show. I think this season needs to be the last, because the storylines have just been incredibly dull.

On a different note, did anyone notice that the footage of the two cars overlapping on the street, in the CCTV footage, had the date of 11/5/10, which would be today. How did they manage to get footage from the future?

I know this has probably been said before, but this season and the last have really lacked a cutting edge.

I full heartedly agree; this season and some of last has really been rather lackluster IMO. This is probably my favourite ep of the season so far, but I still don't think it has quite the punch it used to have.

Watching the beginning scene without the stupid 'eclusive' typo...nope, still ain't affecting my gag reflex. I even rewatched it while eating my dinner :p

For once I was hoping they would have a case that would just be at night, but alas the sun still made an appearance. I want darkness through the whole case, dammit!

So now going outside into the field is the only thing keeping Hodges sane? Something tells me Nick isn't the only one that should be going to therapy...No matter how solid the excuse I'm still never going to like seeing Hodges out in the field.

...Although saying that I did laugh when he asked about 'when' they should go out.

I could tell that this was a McGill episode...all the talk of identity theft and use of technology certainly made me nostalgic for Numb3rs.

The receptionist had something to do with it. I'm betting my whole fanart collection on it.

Really Greg, I'm not even out of my teens and yet I know you should never trust any sort of 'identity protection', especially if their main advertising is through the Internet  I did feel sorry for him at the end when he was yelling into the phone. Oh, and I loved that black jacket and red shirt combo on him!

So many bullets, yet still no Bobby :(

One kidney bean and I'm suddenly reminded why I had liked DJK before he was overused. He's a psycho. And I like me a good psycho. I burst out laughing when Ray opened the letter and I don't even feel guilty for it.

Is it just me or was there quite an abundance of shots of Cath and Nick walking down corridors?

Archie! How I've missed you and your newish haircut so! :adore: Wonder who I'm going to have to beg to get some screencaps of him...

Ha, knew it! She had something to do with it. Sadly another sign of just how predictable crime shows get when you watch enough of them.

- I was chuckling at the full view of the “Crime Solve Board” as Cath & Greg were talking in the hallway. It seems that it’s just Nick, Catherine & the infamous “Joe” on the board these days. I’m guessing the board has become an inside joke for the cast & crew after all these years.

I've been hoping to get a look at 'Joe' ever since he first showed up on the board. Who is this Joe? Is he a CSI? Supervisor? Omnipotent?!

Overall quite a good episode. The return of my favourite ever character bumps it up to a B for me :D
