Flag Pond, Tenn. Authorities are on the lookout for a Grinch who stole the tops off more than two dozen Christmas trees for Danny Tipton's tree farm. The thief or thieves raided the farm in eastern Tennessee sometime between Nov. 24, and last week, and cut off the tops off the Fraser firs that were 10 to 12 feet tall. Tipton grows the taller trees for use in businesses, churches and homes with high ceilings and they usually sell for about $100 each!

GANG MEMBERS SHOOT AT SANTA

A helicopter carrying a Santa Claus to distribute gifts at a Christmas party came under fire when it flew over a Rio de Janeiro shantytown, last week. The chopper was hit by two rifle shots on Sunday, but no one was injured and the aircraft returned to it's base. Gang members apparently attacked the wirly-bird thinking it belonged to the police. It's not unusual for gangs to shoot at police helicopters in Rio, one of the most violent cities in the world, with homicide rate of about 50 percent per 100,000 people . The Santa Claus was later transported by a car to a party for children in another poor part of town where he distributed about 700 gifts ;)

Snake Saved After Eating Golf Balls
Jan 2, 8:48 AM (ET)

BRISBANE, Australia (AP) - A snake was saved by surgery in Australia after mistaking four golf balls for a meal of chicken eggs, a veterinarian said Wednesday.

A couple had placed the balls in their chicken coup in New South Wales state to encourage their hen to nest, the Australian Associated Press reported.

The balls disappeared, and the couple found a lumpy-looking carpet python nearby.

They took the 32-inch nonvenomous snake to the nearby Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, where senior veterinarian Michael Pyne operated to remove the balls from the snake's intestine.

The snake was making a speedy recovery, Pyne said.

"Those golf balls weren't moving any further. They were stuck where they were," Pyne said. "If it hadn't been found, it would have died for sure."

So, besides being disgusting and slimy, snakes are also stupid?
