'GRINCH' SOUGHT IN THEFT OF CHRISTMAS TREE TOPS WHY? CRAZY :( what's the point of this?

Flag Pond, Tenn. Authorities are on the lookout for a Grinch who stole the tops off more than two dozen Christmas trees for Danny Tipton's tree farm. The thief or thieves raided the farm in eastern Tennessee sometime between Nov. 24, and last week, and cut off the tops off the Fraser firs that were 10 to 12 feet tall. "It's like the Grinch stealing Christmas trees", said Sheriff Kent Harris. Tipton grows the taller trees for use in businesses, churches and homes with high ceilings and they usually sell for about $100 each!

Accused Wallet Thief Caught on Page One
    Dec 13, 9:47 PM (ET)

LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) - Police didn't have to look far to find a man suspected of stealing a woman's wallet - just an inch down the page. On the front page of its Thursday edition, The Lewiston Tribune ran a photo of a man in a blue and black checkered coat standing in a convenience store.

The photo was taken from the store's surveillance video, which reportedly shows the man slipping the wallet in his coat pocket and walking away. The picture of the possible purloiner ran along with a story explaining that a woman had forgotten her wallet at the store, and that police were now trying to identify the man in the video.

Also on the front page ran a festive photo of a holiday scene taken by the newspaper's photographer, Kyle Mills. That photo showed a man - in a blue and black coat - painting decorative Christmas greetings on storefront windows. The caption identified the man as Michael Millhouse of Millhouse Signs in Lewiston.

TORTISE MAKES SLOW-SPEED DASH FOR FREEDOM

Riverside, CA...It wasnt' a high-speed chase but it was a chase nonetheless, when Willy the tortoise made his dash for freedom. Actually it was more like a crawl for freedom. But the 200-pound shellback did get a half a mile from Shelley and Robbie Larsen's fenced yard in Rubidoux on Thursday before he was corralled. The Larsen's believes the 18-yr. old son Aaron left a gate oepn. Riverside County Dept. of Animal Control Services drove Willy to a shelter with the 11 yr. old Africian tortise "rocking back and forth" in the truck, said a spokesman. 'I don't think the public realizes how big and how very strong tortoises are", he's the size of a small bathtub, said Welsh the animal control spokesman. The dept. posted phots of Willy on it's web-site and he was recognized byt the Larsen's 21-yr. old daughter Lisa. It was the 3rd time Willy had gotten out, since the family bought him at a pet store for $130 for LIsa's 10th B-day. At that time Willy could fit in tthe palm of your hand. "we had no idea he'd get this big" the family said, alls well, and Willy is back home ;)

N.Z. lawyer wears skirt, blouse to court to protest male-dominated judiciary

WELLINGTON, New Zealand - A bald, mustachioed lawyer turned up at court wearing a skirt and blouse and toting a purse to protest a lack of care and sensitivity among New Zealand's male-dominated judiciary, a newspaper reported Tuesday.

Rob Moodie, 67, arrived at Wellington's High Court on Monday in a navy blue woman's suit complete with diamond brooch and lace-topped stockings over his hairy legs, The Dominion Post reported.

"I will now, as a lawyer, be wearing women's clothing," Moodie said. He said he wants the court to address him as "Ms. Alice" — and that his wife and three children support his protest.

    GANG MEMBERS SHOOT AT SANTA

A helicopter carrying a Santa Claus to distribute gifts at a Christmas party came under fire when it flew over a Rio de Janeiro shantytown, last week. The chopper was hit by two rifle shots on Sunday, but no one was injured and the aircraft returned to it's base. Gang members apparently attacked the wirly-bird thinking it belonged to the police. It's not unusual for gangs to shoot at police helicopters in Rio, one of the most violent cities in the world, with homicide rate of about 50 percent per 100,000 people . The Santa Claus was later transported by a car to a party for children in another poor part of town where he distributed about 700 gifts ;)

Snake Saved After Eating Golf Balls
    Jan 2, 8:48 AM (ET)

BRISBANE, Australia (AP) - A snake was saved by surgery in Australia after mistaking four golf balls for a meal of chicken eggs, a veterinarian said Wednesday.

A couple had placed the balls in their chicken coup in New South Wales state to encourage their hen to nest, the Australian Associated Press reported.

The balls disappeared, and the couple found a lumpy-looking carpet python nearby.

They took the 32-inch nonvenomous snake to the nearby Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, where senior veterinarian Michael Pyne operated to remove the balls from the snake's intestine.

The snake was making a speedy recovery, Pyne said.

"Those golf balls weren't moving any further. They were stuck where they were," Pyne said. "If it hadn't been found, it would have died for sure."

MANS 'WORST CHRISTMAS EVER' EVER, STUCK FOR AN HOUR IN A SEPTIC TANK

Des Moines, Iowa..It was a stinky holiday for Robert Schoff. The 77-year-old man spent part of his Christmas Eve stuck upside down in the opening of his septic tank, with his head inside and his feet kicking in the air above. 'It wasn't good, I'll tell you that" Schoff said Tuesday. "It was the worst Christmas Eve I've ever had" Schoff reached into the tank Monday to find a clog, but he lost his balance and got wedged in the opening. The 5-foot-5-inch 135 Schoff hollered for help, but an hour passed before his wife, Toni walked by the kitchen window and looked out and saw his feet up in the air. She couldn't get him out and called 911. Two Polk County sheriff's deputies yanked and yanked and finally pulled him out. 'I thought this was the end of my life" he said.. EWWWWW :(nasty!
