See I think that in the finale Calleigh left the ball in Eric's court and gave him the opportunity in the park after the trust line to make a move and he didn't. Jake made the first move. Calleigh wanted someone to make the choice for her and Eric dropped the ball on that.

It is like being in high school and this girl has two guys who like her but only one has the scones to ask her out and when confronted by the other guy about why she dating guy #1 she simply replies "because he asked me" That is where I feel we are at with these two.

It sounds stupid and childish but hey this is Miami we are talking about!

I agree with both of you. Thing is, Calleigh needs to be the one to make the decision. It really is her decision to make. That's one of the reasons I want Jake out of the way quickly, so we can get to the real crux of this whole scenario. Calleigh needs to choose to overcome her fears, that the risk is worth the reward, and be with Eric, or decide once and for all that it just can't happen, and make sure the idea is finally put to rest. (I think I shuddered writing that).

The triangle trivializes the issue somewhat. It's like Calleigh has to choose between one or the other. I think it's just as likely, if not more so, that she'd choose to be with neither. And I don't want it to be like Jake screws up and Eric wins by default either. Not that I want them to turn Jake into the perfect saintly boyfriend, because that's not who he is, but I don't want them to make it seem as though Calleigh shrugged and said "Ah, well, at least I got a reserve handy."

I want this angsty stuff to continue on after Jake is out of the picture. It needs to, simply to prove that Calleigh's private emotional battle is what it's really about. But I don't want it to drag on forever, which is why Jake needs to get out. Like now.

Hence the concept that the real triangle is between Eric/Calleigh/Calleigh's emotions. Jake is just filler and an excuse for Calleigh to not have to deal with her emotions.

We are rocking this discussion. How come we don't have these deiscussions more often? At this rate we could hit a 1000 posts before tomorrow! Speaking of we should start thinking of a new thread title

I'm so scared that they're gonna do that. That's why I don't want Jake to mess up. That's why I don't want him to be a total jerk. I want Calleigh to choose Eric because he's the better man (and the best man for her), not because Jake cheated on her or whatever.

I also want the writers to continue giving us glimpses into the differences between the two relationships. Cake seems mostly physical while EC is very much emotional. I want them to remind us why she should be with Eric and not Jake, and I want Calleigh to clue in right this instant.

And Jake, he needs to be with someone who gets him. Calleigh doesn't. When Calleigh is with Jake she becomes just as self-involved as he is and it's not attractive, and it's not healthy. They both become so obsessed with being right they don't even see each other. I feel bad for Jake sometimes. But then he says something totally assholic and my sympathy goes out the window.

Cuz we're all really lazy? Isn't that a requirement with this ship?

I swear if Eric and Calleigh we're this lazy, we wouldn't have made this much progress until about Season 10, which would mean we would have had to sit through 4 more Season 4's

ARGHHH! IMPURE THOUGHTS! IMPURE THOUGHTS!!!

Shoo, I say!

Discussions like this really make me want to write though. I wish I had more follow-through with things like that. My attention/concentration span is as pathetic as Calleigh's porn stash in comparison to Valera's. Perhaps I'll re-read the last few pages of the thread for inspiration tomorrow.#

EDIT: I don't mind Jake messing up, because I think it's in character, it just needs to be very separate from Calleigh's decision regarding the other man in her life.

^It definately needs to be separate and in the end NOT affect the way Cal sees Eric or be the reason they get together. That would be too shallow and boring. They have to, as they have, come together on their own and have it be unrelated to Jake.

The only person who gets Jake is Jake. He only wants Calleigh b/c he feels that if after all their time apart he can get her again, his ego and manhood are boosted.

I hope that when Jake is gone the angst does continue but in a positive way and in our favor. I don't want to see the story start spinning its wheels in order for the writers to extend it through the season. When Jake is gone things need to continue to move foward not stay in one spot and I hope that happens.

Do write something! I agree we need more fics.

I think Jake will mess up somehow, because he has in the past and he will again. Even during the season, his relationship with Calleigh is blatantly wrong. They're a total mismatch. He's like a little bad boy and Calleigh's so grown. I know Eric is younger than her, too, but it's not obvious at all. They're at the same level, whereas Jake is still somewhat of a teenager.

But I don't think Calleigh and Eric will hook up this season, anyway. I thought they would, but now I doubt it. Jake will probably be gone and Calleigh will want to be alone for a while, and her moments with Eric will probably remain, but they'll both be too weary. Something might happen in ths season finale, I think, leaving the door open for next season. But right now, the characters aren't in a healthy place (emotionally). They need to get there first. And since the show is all about the science, it might move even slower.

Patience. I'm running out of it.

Personally, I think Jake should come out of the closet. Think about.

Hagen: dead.

Peter: had another woman.

She needs an "omg he was gay all along!" experience. It's the only thing that's missing from her screwed up relationship scrapbook.

Jake, you need to come out of the closet. [/South Park]

I was listening to this song earlier today, and it really reminded me of E/C.

"Sonnet" by The Verve -

My friend and me
Looking through her red box of memories
Faded I'm sure
But love seems to stick in her veins you know

Yes, there's love if you want it
Don't sound like no sonnet, my love
Yes, there's love if you want it
Don't sound like no sonnet, my love
My love

Why can't you see
That nature has its way of warning me
Eyes open wide
Looking at the heavens with a tear in my eye

Yes, there's love if you want it
Don't sound like no sonnet, my love
Yes, there's love if you want it
Don't sound like no sonnet, my love
My love

Sinking faster than a boat without a hull
My love
Dreaming about the day when I can see you there
My side
By my side

Here we go again and my head is gone, my love
I stopped to say hello
'Cause I need you to know, by now
By now
Oh, by now

Well if Jake came out then Calleigh would complete her trifeca!! She would have had one of every type of man.

We should write the writers and give them that as an idea!!

It's so perfect, though, it needs to happen. And you know how the writers love to rip off movie plots. Jake could get partnered up with an eager young cop for a night of surveillance and have his little Brokeback Crimelab revelation.

Do you guys still wanna use the rats title for the next thread?

Brokeback Crimelab....classic!

What was the full name of the next proposed thread? I can't remember for the life of me.

I think it was:

Eric/Calleigh #25: Known To Cause Arousal In Laboratory Mice

But somebody could suggest something else. By the time the show premieres we'll probably be on thread #26 anyway.

Interview with Corey Miller: Mentions Eric and E/C quite a bit.
Here.

Thoughts?

Miller went on to say that, "just when these feelings could potentially be explored, Calleigh had already begun to see Jake [Berkeley (Johnny Whitworth)]. Again, just more potential for drama." Miller wouldn't reveal what might happen in season six, but he did say that "there will be complications. If there weren't, everything would be too easy."

Is it just me who read that as: Jake is a compication, just more potential for drama?

I agree, he means that Jake is the complication! It was evident since the beginning, but now it’s obvious. ;)

There are many things that keep people apart romantically, and Calleigh and Eric were always too professional to do anything but occasionally flirt with each other. When Delko was shot, Calleigh was right by his side. And we thought that would be an interesting way to make them closer
I also paid attention to this. Here it’s clear that TPTB want the E/C storyline to go on and that they used the bullet in Eric’s brain as a push to make their relationship concrete. This is a way to overcome their fears of being not enough professional. :)

About the new thread’s title I think that Eric/Calleigh #25: Known To Cause Arousal In Laboratory Mice is perfect. :D

Subterraneantwin, I’ve never heard this song before but it’s perfect for E/C! I love it! :)

I thought about a title involving the word "complications" - coz that's all Corey's been saying for months now... *lol*

Something like: "Eric/Calleigh #25: 'Complications' only increase the appetite!"
...or: "Eric/Calleigh #25: Complications make them even hornier!"
...or without the 'complications: "Eric/Calleigh #25: traffic-jam in the pleasure grotto!"

...

Ok I just read them again and, yes, they suck immensly... But I spent twenty minutes inventing them so I'm gonna post them, right...

*coughcough*

Is 'horny' PG13?
