Have to say I'm not happy they're ignoring Marg's wishes to replace her but in the same breath I understand why they're doing it.
Here's hoping she does well and helps bring back more life to the show that was lost during LF's era.

First off, I like Elisabeth Shue. She's a great actress, has the chops and could lend the same touch of drama and humor into CSI like Marg does.

I do need to say this, there is only ONE Catherine Willows. We all know that.

So I don't like the word 'replace' because she's not a fill-in or a replacement to fit exactly in the same spot as Catherine. She will be her own character. (And based on the spoilers about her character, she sounds like Katee Sackhoff's detective character with the anger-management problem. ;) ) Which could play nicely off of DB's good-guy.

But the idea that she's again from Seattle (writers PLEASE consult me about this, okay) and he fired her doesn't bode well for anyone. Sounds forced. Couldn't she have come from somewhere else, crossed path's with DB and he wanted to hire her because she's good? Just curious.

In the long run, it's sounds like CSI is starting over if you will. A whole new cast of characters and more ideas to explore. I guess Marg was right when she said CSI will go on and on.

So YEAH, bring on Elizabeth Shue.

yes but it seems to be too similar to Grissom who hired Sara because he met her in San Francisco and he found her great in her job ! ;)

It's always possible that DB fired Shue's character at the direction of someone else -- he could have wanted to give her a second chance if she took anger management training but the ultimate decision wasn't his. Anyway, who gets to escort Elisabeth Shue to the autopsy? I think it's Jorja's turn. :)

Its certainly an interestIng choice, and whilst it may be a coup to get a named film actress I just wonder that she may not be in it for the long haul and go the same way as Laurence Fishburne did and not hang around too long. I've said before that CSI's strength is in its core characters and their longevity.

I'm looking forward to it airing in the UK.

I just remembered how Hodges was introduced back in season three. He transferred from LA because of attitude problems. Sounds like he might get along really well with Elisabeth Shue's character.

Either that or they'll clash because they're too much alike or something lol.

Well...sure....but he's only been on the show for a few episodes himself. How about being excited to work with the veteran cast that made the show what it is after 11 years? It's already sounding to me like the Ted and Elisabeth show. I'm starting to think this may be one change too many for me.

One excerpt used as a quote and you draw that conclusion? People said the same thing when Ted joined the show.

I guess a lot of people are going to be unsatisfied about George not being made the lead. He's a terrific actor and an amazing person, but I honestly don't think it should have been him as the new lead.

It's possible that she did mention the rest of the cast and E Online just cut that part out of the printed/published version of the interview. Some online sites (and even some magazines) are only focused on the two leads and any other cast members are forgotten about or ignored.

Could be. I'm just not sure about all the changes so fast. Wish they hadn't replaced Marg right away.

To be fair, she probably doesn't know the rest of the cast well, at least not like we know them. :)
EVERYONE knows Danson, so if he is what attracted her to the show then so be it.

My take from this short interview is that she seems a little uncertain about juggling work and family, and she doesn't seem anxious to make any long term commitment. Hopefully, she will find the CSI family easy to work with and will like the job and stick around for a while. I think the worst thing for the show now would be for new 'lead' players to keep coming and going. Stability, especially at the top, would be nice.
Once she starts to work with the cast, I'm sure we will hear more about them from her.
