I thought the way they handlled Wendy leaving was really lame. I know she and Hodges are supporting characters, but it was just handled poorly IMO.

Liz Vassey wasn't supposed to appear in ANY episodes this season. Inviting her back for a few scenes was one of those 11th hour scenarios. Last night's episode of Criminal Minds, with AJ Cook was also a last minute deal. With these situations it's really hard to give a "deserving" send-off, but I thought tonight's episode handled Wendy leaving pretty darn well. Wendy saying "I can't stay" pretty much explains what happened to Liz, too.

hmmz... Ok.. I hope the episode is somewhere to see later on...but what did Henry say or do to make Hodges physical aggressive? poor guy (Hodges that is ) indeed :(

Time again for some positive vibes towards the writers and producers ... If there is a season 12.... who knows

Something about how Hodges couldn't "close" with Wendy.. took her out for coffee, but then couldn't take her home because he still lives with his mom ("what are you going to do, ask mom to take a drive around the block"). While I don't think attempted murder can ever be justified, Henry was being pretty aggravating.

On the mom thing though.. a few seasons ago, there was talk of Hodges moving out. Did that not happen after all?

Enjoyable. Yes, the casino and shark puns were everywhere:

...I don't see any other marks on her.
...Then we need to flip her (Flipper) over. :guffaw:

but who cares? We all know that LV casino owners are at each others' throats, so the scenario is semi-believable.

I like it when Vegas types are in the show. I know William Petersen hated this, but it is CSI Las Vegas. He could have signed on with Horatio Caine to run the night shift there. :shifty: And I swear, one of the blondes running round the pool in the opening scene was one of the floozies from The Girls Next Door. Perhaps "Holly?" I know it wasn't Kendra because she's too busy making her "videos." lol.

Laurence is the first-billed star on the show. They need him in as many episodes as possible. Plus there is a certain gravitas he can carry when you hear the click of his cane coming down the hallway.

Nerds' love affairs will never be handled properly. She got a new job--she's moving. Fine. It's a lot better than her being eaten by a shark as well, or worse. And she's a lab rat--she can't be killed in the field because she isn't in the field. She got a graceful exit. Someone call Eddie Cibrian and tell him about this. Just please tell me when the Langham/Sparks angst comes to a close, because there is nothing more insipid than love-scorned science geeks.

Elliot Gould: not much of a factor, but his appearance was slightly creepy, which I expect of anyone who makes a living off vice. +1.

    thnx for the explanation....
about the mom thing ... I recall an episode where (I think it was Catherine?) someone said... "so she finally kicked him out" or something in that side.... or am I reading too much fanfiction and am I mixing up? can't look it up (it's early fridaymorning overhere... I should be working, now pretending to be busy with an email ;))

I'm pretty sure that you're right, PalmTree.

I was really kind of irritated with Henry. I get that he was upset about Wendy leaving, but in reality he was kind of harsh on Hodges. I felt like it was unnecessary, really, and a bit out of character. He's never been buddies with Hodges, but he's always been pretty gentle with him when it comes to Wendy. It almost seemed out of character to me.

You're kidding, right? Not only was Henry abused by Hodges for daring to ask Wendy out (multiple times, playing terrible practical jokes on him), now Hodges throws a jealous hissy fit and won't leave Henry alone just because Henry has the temerity to a) talk to Wendy b) be friends with her and c) be there when SHE comes to him to talk. If I was Henry I'd have punched the lights out of Hodges a long time ago.

    1) Hodges didn't play the practical jokes.
    2) He was jealous, yes, but that's Hodges.
    3) He wasn't really throwing a hissy fit until after he had already had his heart broken, unless I missed something during the conversation between him and Wendy because my dorm decided to make a lot of noise through it.

Henry acting out of character?? No way, people. Although Hodges didn't pull all those practical jokes on him, Henry believes he did do it and is still mad at Hodges for ruining his date with Wendy. They will be at odds all season long I bet. While in the past they were cool with each other, now there is bad blood between them. Which I think is cool for the show. It's nice to see two nerdy types with some anger!

I love Henry. I love Hodges. I hope they can again learn to love each other. Can't let a woman come between you! Bros before Ho's, right?

In the locker room before Wendy comes in Hodges bugs Henry even after Henry clearly says they just talk and are just friends. Then in the pool Henry is being completely reasonable saying she came to him for help and he offered her the (right) advice. Hodges wouldn't stop and got mad at Henry for being a good friend, thus provoking Henry into provoking him. Like I said, with the way Hodges has treated Henry, I don't blame him at all for snapping. And what Henry said wasn't even that bad; over the time of the series Hodges has said much worse things about everyone on the team.

In the locker room, after Henry says that he and Wendy are friends, Hodges asks "friends with benefits?" and Henry just says "define benefits." It's a rather ambiguous answer, and Hodges may have thought Henry was trying to avoid the question.

Hodges is also probably hurt by Wendy talking to Henry about it months ago, but not telling him.

Henry's comments about Hodges still living with his mother were rather cruel.

Hodges is generally a jerk, and bad as it is.. people tend to learn to ignore jerks. Henry is usually very even-tempered and easygoing, so it's more of a surprise to hear such nastiness from him.

I'm unsure whether or not I liked this episode. The whole premise of a shark in the pool seemed so... Miami to me. And there was too much going on in the episode:

Why have Drops in an episode if your barely going to use him? I like how they capitalized on his presence to make us think he was involved, but why waste such a character for such a meaningless, short role?

I both anticipated and dreaded the Wendy/Hodges arc in this. I love Wendy and was terrified to see her leave, but I was pleased to see them give a decent - if short - send off. And Hodges reaction - particularly with the almost-homicide of poor Henry - was actually pretty good. I'm not much of Hodges fan but I did feel bad for him. And the use of a censored version of the song "F**k You" while he processed the scuba tank was hilarious.

The death of the girl felt old-school CSI. That's a good thing. A simple attempt at a robbery turned deadly. Old-school and not very convoluted.

The shark however, felt off. I mean, I understand the motivation and so forth, but really? A shark? And the thing only attacked a dead girl? And nobody noticed it swimming around until just before the attack? Again, really?

I didn't care for the flashback either. The actor they got for Sam, despite getting his smile down, just didn't seem very Sam Braun-ish. Meh.

See, that's a lot of stuff going on. Half the time I was to busy focusing on Hodges. Then I'd be wondering when Drops would show up again. I hardly thought about the actual case itself. ...

On a different note, I wasn't surprised about the lack of Greg. I knew that with Drops and Wendy and Sam references that it would be a Nick, Hodges, Catherine episode. So I was fine with that.

One question? I might have missed something but how is it that Sara and Greg are still sporting injuries from last weeks ep and Nick doesn't? Ray not withstanding, Nick was the most injured at the end of it. And here he's fine? The only evidence was his comment to Hodges about his hearing, but that sounded more like an attempt at a joke.

Overall, while I was entertained I'm not going to say this was a great episode. Decent, but not great.

Nick's injuries were under his shirt. His face got dirty, but not damaged, in the explosion. He ditched the sling halfway through last week (probably couldn't find one to match plaid :D). He should still have stitches in his shoulder (although he's not favouring it anymore).

Btw, it was in Theory of Everything that Hodges moving out was mentioned. Mandy called him (from across the lab) and told him he'd have to move out if he ever wanted a real relationship with a girl ("no girl wants competition"). Later on, Henry tells Catherine that Hodges is looking for his own apartment, and she responds with "his mother finally kicked him out huh?" After almost 2 years, he should've found a place by now..

    A very enjoyable episode.

    * LOVED Elliot Gould and his interactions with Catherine. It's apparent that she's 'at home' in that world.
    * I actually *gasp* kind of liked Drops in this one. It was short & sweet, not annoying this time around.
    * Brass is back to his old self, and thankfully Cath & Brass are done beating on each other.
    * Sara & Greg were woefully underused.
    * Wendy made me cry.
    * Hodges/Henry fight was hilarious
    * I knew the woman was dead before the shark came. She was lifeless even as her arm was being ripped off.
