Will Catherine die? **SPOILERS**

I have read a thing saying when she quits she will run her father's casino. Is this still the plan or did they change it? (it was a long time ago that I read it)

With 'CSI' you never know, there was a spoiler that her exit would have her family in danger, too.

One of tptb recently said something about how they hope Marg will come back for an episode or two down the road, so that sounds to me like she definitely will leave the show without being killed off.

I can't see her being killed off either.

The whole storyline leading to Warrick's death was really the first and only time we saw a story that went so very deep into his personal life and personal suffering, there were plots involving things that affected him on a personal level but nothing on the scale of the one leading to his death.

In Catherine's case, we've seen her go through so much personal tragedy (Eddie's death, Sam's death, being cheated on, her daughter getting kidnapped, etc) that I think it would be poetic injustice to have her die at the end of all that, you know?

Warrick's death was so painful, but I think it worked perfectly in terms of his character because he died being who he was, a character so passionate he could not sit down and accept something he saw as terrible injustice, and the emotional turmoil he was in over his divorce added to that believability. I think the viewers could accept that, as sad as it was to see him go.

With Catherine, I think viewers (on the whole) have felt her pain through so many challenges they've written for her and really want to see her end up in a good place where she can finally be rewarded for all the strength she's had to muster up for years, you know? I think it would be like an invalidation to all the things she has had to survive all these years if they had her die.

I hope that made sense! :)

They won't kill her off simply because Marg doesn't that want to happen and really, tptb will give her what she wants. I'm sure Marg has a lot to say how Catherine exits.

So I wouldn't worry. ;)

I just read a TV guide article where they said "there are no plans to kill Catherine off" that would seem to be about as unequivocal as a statement they could make!

Except for the fact that TPTB lie when it comes to things like this. If they're planning a big humongous 'kill off Catherine' plot to write her out, then the last thing they're going to do is reveal that in an interview.

I really dont believe that catherine is going to die. In an earlier post i mentioned (and provided a link to) an article in which carol mendelsohn said she hoped marg would return in the future for a few guest appearances. That and the fact that other posters have read articles in which it explicitly says they are not going to kill off catherine, kinda suggests they wont. I really dont think it would be in the shows interest to lie to its fans and explicitly say she is not going to die if in fact they are going to kill her off - be vague about what going to happen or refuse to comment yes but not outright lie. Not to mention it would be in the shows interest for catherines exit to leave the plot open for her to return at some future point and the return of sara (and grissoms guest appearances) confirm that the show is able to bring back characters in that way and for it to be a success/boost ratings.

Catherine is supposedly leaving in episode 12 but tbh i think that is subject to change. Apparently Ted keeps trying to persuade marg to stay and also episodes are not always aired in the order they are shot. so the episode originally intended to be episode 12 could in fact end up being aired as episode 14 or 17 for example.

Just out of curiousity during the Miniature Killer crisis did they ever say if Sara would survive or not before Dead Doll came out or were they intentionally vague about it

I have had a good look on google and couldnt find any articles regarding the miniature killer/ sara's abduction that included any comments from CBS or the writers/producers/actors regarding whether sara was going to die. I think in the case of sara's abduction, they intentionally made it a cliffhanger and did not want the fans to know what happened before watching the first episode of season 8.

I dont know whether this info helps people form an opinion about Catherine's exit, im sure as the season progresses we will begin to get a story arc concerning catherine and get an idea of how the character will exit the show. Personally I still firmly believe that she is not going to be killed off.

IMO, I don't think she will be killed off. She is choosing to leave of her own accord and is NOT leaving under the circumstances Gary Dourdan did when he was fired from CSI.
We'll just have to see how it all plays out.

Gary wasn't fired, that I know of...didn't they say they were already planning his exit before everything happened? IDK why that rumor won't die.

And hasn't Marg confirmed that Catherine won't die?
