I've gotta say, I have a strong stomach but seeing them photos of dead bodies and stuff was making me a little bit sick. But after speaking to the SOCO there I am determind to get their no matter what anyone says or thinks. And if you are the same go for it, you only have one shot at life. Live it your way 'cause you never know whats round the next corner. And I know.

If the photos were bad, wait till you have a real one thats is ooey-gooey and stinky you have to work around.

But seriously keep up the determination. It's not a rubbish job, even though it isn't like on TV.

Grissom_mad don't let anyone tell you that CSI is a rubbish job. My auntie told me that and I said that I wanted to do it anyways. There's something about solving a crime that would make my life complete. Being able to help people is what drives me right now. And even though I know it's not going to be like CSI I really want to be there behind the tape and in the lab.

Hey, death is death. And oce you've seen one corpse, you've seen them all.

Exactly, that's what I say. I mean the first body I saw was 3 years ago and that was my granda, and I handled that pretty well.

I nearly lost my life 10 years ago and now that I'm older, I relise that life is too short. Live it the way YOU want, not what other people want. If you're happy then that's the main thing.

I am doing my degree now and i will say a few things!

It is such an interesting course and i love it but don't be under any illusions it is not really like the tv there is ALOT of chemistry involved so think before you decide to do it.

I do struggle with the chemistry but i am still glad i decided to do it as it is such a diverse degree and when people as what i am doing there all like "wow that sounds amazing"

A while ago, Mark Benecke held a talk at the institute I worked at -ironically as part of the closing ceremony for a youth science program- where he showed us some of his "test objects" from the Body Farm ;) Though it was pretty strong stuff, I didn't see anyone run outside, what with the insects and the, in one stage, pretty bloated corpses. Though luckily for some, "smell Power Point" hasn't been invented yet :)

^^yes, very lucky. Although if people knew that part I think a few of them would think a little harder.

I just want to be able to give people a little justice and to me being a CSI is a big part of that. Actually, before I watched CSI I wanted to be a prosecutor, but now I think I'll start in the lab and maybe go back and a prosecutor later in life.

I've read a lot of books and stuff by real CSIs and I'm still totally interested. I just have to get through high school first.

:D Go after your dreams. I didn't think that I would be able to go into Forensic Science and I am finishing my last year of grad school with my MFS and love every minute of it. I could have done anything else, but this is what it came down to in the end.

and yes, it isn't like on TV- actually much different and it isn't like seeing a dead body after they have been embalmed- not even close. even seeing one on the scene is way different than in autopsy, and when you get a decomp that has been fermenting for a couple of weeks.....lovely. Try doing an external body exam on one. those are fun :p

I'm wanting to be a Scenes Of Crime Officer (U.K. version of a CSI). I got inspired by CSI like many others, but a few years ago my schools Career Officer came into one of my classes and he asked my what I'd like to do in the future. I told him I wanted to be a CSI, being the fat jerk he is told me not to bother, it's a rubbish job and is nothing like the T.V. show. About a year or so after that I went to university during my October brake and did a short course on Forensics which dealt with finger (sp?) printing, which I enjoyed. Then last year I got a chance to spend a week with my local Police force and with that got to go to their "Identification Bureu" which is like the Forensic labs. There I got to talk to a real SOCO and got loads of info on the job and a look at some of the scenes they had to deal with. I've gotta say, I have a strong stomach but seeing them photos of dead bodies and stuff was making me a little bit sick. My dad's one of those! It's really an awesome job according to him and I too am planning to follow him although I can't find anywhere to do all the courses and I'm just about to start my GCSE's any ideas?

I know there is a place in the North of England that does forensics but can't remember what it's call :p. I live in Scotland so there is a few uni's up here that do it such as Strathclyde, Glasgow Calidonian, Paisley and Dundee if you want to try them. You could also go to UCAS
and type it in, that's what I done. Take a look see what you think. :)

im going to be a forensic scintist i dont care how much they get paid or wether the job is right for me..nothing is going to stop me..i will be a forensic scientist...
