Under the Dome

I've been an avid watcher of this series, but so far I'm not sure what to make of season 2.

"We've seen 2 major characters killed off very early on "
and had characters appear out the woodwork who weren't seen in season 1. Despite that its nice to see Flack back on TV.

In each episode the dome seems to be doing something out of the ordinary, arguably more so than in the first season I would say. But ultimately at the moment I have no clue where this season is going.

I think this season's ok. I'm kinda glad that it's veered away from the book. I may love science fiction but I didn't much like the aliens aspect of the book. I've been more excited to watch "Under the Dome" all summer than I am to watch any new episodes in this fall/winter tv season that's just starting.

I expected Linda to be killed off - it was announced at some point over the winter that she was going to be on another show. Angie I was a little pissed at!

Rebecca I can't stand. Sam I used to think was ok - now, with him killing Angie I don't know. I look at their arrival as we just haven't met everyone in town yet.

I've never read the book, but the series is still essential viewing in our house. Even the mrs likes it. I think we are only 5 episodes in to season 2 in the UK.

The more I watch of this second season the more ridiculous I think its becoming, a girl turns up from the dead and everyones reaction to her is one of normality, "don't worry we'll figure it out".

Rebecca I agree is a very annoying character.

Some of the acting is getting worse too, Julia and Junior in particular spring to mind. It seems as though Julia spends most of her scenes running up to a situation thats already happened and just shouting a lot.

Sam (Flack) is unconvincing in it too.

It all just seems very disjointed story wise so far in this second season.

I don't think they really knew what to do after Steven King's episode. They have their group of writers and then they got this Steven King episode that they had to roll with afterwards - Angie & Linda dying, new characters (Sam, Rebecca, Melanie).

I've seen the whole season - the season finale on Monday night - and there's only 2 characters that really annoyed me throughtout the season:
Rebecca - her constant having to go to Big Jim and tell him everything.
Big Jim - his 'the dome saved me to do this' throughout the whole season - it was like they forgot what they wanted to do with the character.

The main thing I like about "Under The Dome" is that it's different. Someone on another site listed the shows they thought were better than UTD. The first thing I thought was 'that's the type of show I watch in the regular season', "Under The Dome" isn't. This is they type of show that wouldn't last in the regular season and I think they know it.

Susan

All that back story they established about Big Jim in the first season seems to have fallen by the wayside, all his shady dealings and skeletons in the closet. I think so far my biggest problem so far is Julias acting and the Rebecca character who has been thrust into the forefront of the stories from nowhere.

Seeing as I only watch 2 shows ("Under the Dome" and "Motive") during the summer, this is good news. :)

Under The Dome Renewed for season 3

CBS RENEWS HIT SERIES "UNDER THE DOME" AND "EXTANT"

Returning Dramas Join the Reality Hit "Big Brother" and the

New Drama "Zoo" on CBS's 2015 Summer Line-Up

CBS announced today that the hit series UNDER THE DOME and EXTANT will return for broadcast in summer 2015. Both from Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television, UNDER THE DOME returns for its third season, and EXTANT for its sophomore season.

"We're committed to delivering our viewers and advertisers year-round programming with a wide variety of storytelling," said Nina Tassler, Chairman, CBS Entertainment. "We continue to see summer as a great place for unique concepts, innovative business models and passionate television audiences."

The successful second season of UNDER THE DOME was the summer’s top scripted series, with 11 million viewers, 2.7/08 in adults 18-49 and 3.6/10 in adults 25-54. EXTANT, starring Academy Award winner Halle Berry, won its 10:00 PM time period with 8.64 million viewers, 1.7/06 in adults 18-49 and 2.3/07 in adults 25-54. In addition to their broadcast on the Network, UNDER THE DOME and EXTANT had additional viewing on Amazon’s Prime Instant Video, which provided exclusive online subscription streaming four days after the airing on CBS.

For summer 2015, UNDER THE DOME and EXTANT will join the previously announced freshman drama ZOO, based on James Patterson's bestselling novel, and the next edition of the summer reality hit BIG BROTHER, which has been renewed for 2015 and 2016.

CBS Sets Summer Premiere Dates, Marg Helgenberger Joins ‘Under The Dome’

CBS has set the bulk of its summer schedule. Under The Dome has added CSI alumna Marg Helgenberger, who will do an extensive arc starting with the Season 3 premiere on June 25. The Stephen King adaptation will move from Monday to Thursday.

Extant is staying put on Wednesdays, with Season 2 launching on July 1. CBS’ newest summer original drama series, Zoo, will air on Tuesdays, starting June 30, with NCIS repeats as a lead-in. CBS summer staple Big Brother will kick off its 17th season with a two-night premiere on June 24-25 and will once again air on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. Late midseason addition CSI: Cyber will continue airing originals into the summer before making room for Extant. No official word yet on CBS’ Monday summer schedule, but it is expected to resemble the current lineup of 2 Broke Girls, Mike & Molly, Scorpion and NCIS: LA.

Worth pointing out is the presence of midseason comedy Odd Couple on the summer schedule, which bodes well for the comedy’s renewal chances. Here is the rest of CBS’ summer lineup (the network also is expected to air Mom and Elementary repeats in the off season).

8-9 PM - BIG BROTHER (Season Premiere, Night 2)
9-11 PM – UNDER THE DOME (Two-Hour Third Season Premiere)

Thursday, Effective July 2

Eriq La Salle doing more than directing in season 3.

ER Doc Meets the Dome

Eight years as an ER surgeon may have been tough on Eriq La Salle — but it will be a cakewalk compared to life Under the Dome.

The TV vet has joined the Season 3 cast of CBS’ sci-fi drama, EW.com reports.

La Salle will play Hektor Martin, a cutthroat CEO of the energy company run by Barbie’s (Mike Vogel) father. He previously directed a Season 2 episode, “The Fall,” and will get behind the camera again for Season 3’s ninth episode.

UNDER THE DOME

UNDER THE DOME, based on Stephen King's bestselling novel, tells the story of a small town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome. In the weeks following the Dome's descent on the sleepy town of Chester's Mill, the inhabitants have been forced to adapt. Combating Dome- and man-made threats daily, the community rises to new heights of ingenuity, courage and, for some, darkness, in order to survive their post-apocalyptic isolation. Just as the town's quest for answers reveals a seemingly viable path to freedom, everything the residents think they know about the Dome and its motivations is turned upside down. Again facing an uncertain future, the citizens of Chester's Mill begin to realize their true destiny as the Dome reveals more of its ultimate agenda for them. As new dangers emerge, battle lines are drawn that will alter relationships in ways none of them could imagine. For this town, the true threat to the human spirit's resilience is no longer just the invisible dome that has cut them off from civilization – but it is the enemy within.

'Under the Dome': Mike Vogel Says He Was 'Shocked' By Season 3 Premiere

Under the Dome is looking to pull in some new fans in Season 3. “We pick up this year exactly where we left off last year and really, really, really take it some interesting places,” promises star Mike Vogel. The series has a new showrunner, Dexter’s Tim Schlattmann, who is emphasizing the show’s sci-fi elements as it heads into its third season.

Last season ended with what looked like a way out of the dome. Barbie and the gang followed the butterflies to a portal where, beyond, they saw Melanie. “Follow me, we’re going home,” she tells the stunned townsfolk. So that’s it, right? Season 3 is just one episode where everybody leaves, and the show’s over? “That’s right! I’m already looking for another job right now,” says Vogel, laughing.

Joking aside, “The theme of this year is ‘the enemy within.’ There is something powerful and terrible happening within the people of Chester’s Mill,” explains Vogel. “Right off the bat — starting from first two-hour premiere — there was a ton of stuff that shocked us.” As you might expect given Schlattmann’s history on Dexter, “We’re getting to go to a lot darker places than we’ve been able to go into in the past,” says Vogel. “We’ve seen Barbie be the anti-hero and trying to make amends for a lot of his demons in the past and his military days. This year, we tap into the dark side of him.” There will be “more of Barbie in his element,” adds the actor, emphasizing his military and tactical skills.

Though Vogel is mum about what happens after Barbie and the Chester’s Mill residents follow Melanie “home,” he will say Barbie’s relationship with Julia “is tested big time” this season. One such test: Eva Sinclair (Kylie Bunbury), a young anthropologist "who presents a … challenge for Barbie and Julia,” explains Vogel with a chuckle. CSI mainstay Marg Helgenberger “brings a load of experience” as anthropologist Christine Price (her name is an homage to the famous Stephen King novel about a possessed car).

Helgenberger will be a big part of providing the answers viewers have been waiting two seasons for, though more questions will inevitably arise. Says Vogel, “It’s been exciting seeing all those puzzle pieces come together here.”
