Captain
The cast of CSI: New York goes out on a limb, or rather a beam, to promote the new season.
Next week marks the start of a promotional campaign for the show that will put its cast in a familiar setting. "CSI: NY chose the Charles C. Ebbets 1932 'Lunch on a Skyscraper' photograph because we wanted to cement our cast members as timeless icons in this generation," said franchise creator Anthony Zuiker. In the image, the cast is shown sitting on a beam high over the Big Apple.
The shot contains all of the show's regular characters as well as Sid Hammerback (Robert Joy) and Adam Ross (AJ Buckley). According to Zuiker, the image gives hints about the season. "If you look closely, there is a story within the story with all of the actors," he said. He did not specify what those hints might be for Adam, Flack, Hawkes or Hammerback, but he did describe the tableau for the other four characters in the shot.
"The Devil, in this image, is in the details," Zuiker said. "For example, Stella [Bonasera (Melina Kanakaredes)] is holding an iPhone while Mac [Taylor (Gary Sinise)] opts to lower his New York Times." This, he says, is "a sign of the times in terms of technology. Paper versus wireless." In the promo, Danny Messer (Carmine Giovinazzo) and Lindsay Monroe (Anna Belknap) are sharing a sandwich. While this part of the photograph does not offer any clues about their work as CSIs, it does symbolize the pair's relationship with one another. "f you look closely," Zuiker said, "her toes grabbing the cuff of his jeans signifies their love for each other. In fact, the two make a perfect heart." As for everyone else, Zuiker said that he will "leave the rest of the cast to your imagination."
