I have just about made it through (so far) 5 episode of NYPD, unfortunately normal life has got in the way of my viewing pleasure, if it was up to me I would have finished watching the whole season by now.
Well I absolutely love John Kelly, he is the sweetest guy (I got to see his bum cheeks! :devil I have taken a liking to them ties. :lol: I love the way he calls the guy from his apartment 4b.

Hi Tink. Glad to see you are back with us! Yes, It is indeed the adorable John Kelly in my avvy. As much as I loved my Frank one, I couldn't be DC-less for more than about a week!
Thanks Pusher! Sadly, I don't have the original picture as I got the avatar from someone's 'Live Journal' (thanks go to holy_holly). I'm not very talented at making avatars, so I have to get them from elsewhere! I will try to track down the original screencap for you though.

Hiiiiiiiii.......!!!!!! I think I repeat this sentence about a million times now but I'm gonna say it again "Great pics, love the pics, love them all!!!" That pic with DC in dressing gown(or looks like a bathrobe to me) made me go wild and into imagination-land. I haven't watch NYPD before or maybe I did but never paid attention(stupid me). What was John Kelly like? Anything similar to Horatio Caine? Besides both being a cop?

Both characters are/were dedicated to their jobs, had a strong allegiance to justice and doing what is morally right, both are/were tough and unrelenting when called for, but also sensitive and downright lovely!
The differences were well observed by DC himself :"In NYPD Blue, I played a street detective who is able to go off on his own personal instinct and give way to his emotions. Horatio can't do that".
I also remember DC commenting that Horatio is more sophisticated than John Kelly was!
Also, Horatio is rather a loner. In his personal life particularly. John Kelly usually had a woman in his life, some of his love scenes were pretty memorable!!! I know it's not the CSI style to bring in romance as such, it's all pretty subtle.
For me, both John Kelly and Horatio Caine were/are totally adorable!
....and superbly acted by the great man himself too!

I'm beginning to envy this other character played by David. I would really love to see him as JK. All this talk about NYPD Blue makes me realise what I missed. Which is quite a lot! Bummer.

I didn't realise how much I was missing until I actually saw him as John Kelly. I tried to decide the other night which character I like better - Horatio or John - but my efforts were inconclusive. However, one thing I'm sure of; Horatio needs more scenes with less clothes.
