The 'CSI' Franchise Is Buzzing With Spoilers

CSI Files

Captain
Grissom gets some new buggy friends and Miami gets a brand new addition to the lab.

The eighth season of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation will provide Gil Grissom (<font color=yellow>William Petersen</font>) with a unique new storyline that will begin in episode three, "Go to Hell" (a spoiler report for the episode can be found here). Unlike season seven's miniature killer plot, this time around Grissom is fascinated by something other than a human being: bugs, of course.

"Grissom will begin to study colonization in Episode 3," executive producer <font color=yellow>Carol Mendelsohn</font> said, as revealed in Ask Ausiello. "We're going to do this very dark, scary episode set in a haunted house. While there, Grissom is going to find a live beehive, and he is going to take this beehive back to [the lab] and he is going to study it all season. He's trying to figure out why these honey bees are dying around the world. It's really about Grissom looking outside the lab… to see the problems of the world. It's Grissom's science experiment for the year."

Elsewhere in the franchise, CSI: Miami is getting a new addition of the human variety. It has been reported that <font color=yellow>Jessica Szohr</font> will be joining the cast as A.V. Tech specialist Samantha Barrish. The character will be introduced in "Cyber-lebrity", the third episode of Miami's sixth season (a spoiler report can be found here). In the episode, Barrish uses her expertise to help the CSIs solve the murder of an internet celebrity's boyfriend.

The original information was found at Ask Ausiello. More information about Jessica Szohr, including a filmography, can be seen at IMDb.com.<center></center>

 Grissom tries to solve the world's problems! How fascinating for him, but probably not for the viewers. :p

Actually, I always quite liked Grissom's geeky fascination with bugs, but only because he was weird, quirky and obviously excited by it. But that was years ago, and somehow I can't see his character going back to that lighter time, which may mean that this storyline is just Grissom being depressive and sitting alone in his office so he can avoid dealing with other people.

I can't say I'm particularly enamored by the CSI spoilers so far.

I had such high hopes for season 8.
The only good thing about the beehive that I can come up with is that the bees escape and attack the stupid coccoon from season 7. Other than that B.. O.. R .. I.. N.. G

Maybe he is making honey for his honey. Maybe he heard about Saturday Night Live's Killer Bees and wants to train some to go after Ecklie.

...

They weren't kidding when they said CSI 'Goes to Hell'. :p

I enjoyed the episodes where Grissom had to solve a crime using entomology because it was very interesting to see a crime investigated from a different perspective - but this is just strange. I don't see how that ties into the show aside from character development...And it looks kind of boring.

But seriously, honey bees aren't the gravest issue on the planet. I sincerely hope Mac doesn't get into Global Warming and Horatio doesn't start punching holes in the ground for oil. Hopefully they'll make it interesting and maybe humourous at least.

And er, all season? Yikes.

LMAO

Yeah, if it was to be an interesting, humourous sideline then I would be OK with it. But I just can't see that being the way they will play it out.

I wonder if they think that a season long arc is the best way forward? After what I guess would be a success in carrying the MCSK arc through season 7, and how Grissom was so intrigued by it, maybe they think that viewers will like the continuity of Grissom 'investigating' something throughout the season. Er, bees? Definately not holding my interest. (And why on earth would he be allowed to keep them in the lab?)
