Head of the Swing Shift
The Best Gift
Catherine Willows stirred some after opening her eyes and found herself in a bed covered in white sheets. She was asleep in white sheets and nothing else.
She noticed the plain gold band on her left ring finger. She smiled at the sight of it then scans the room for her husband.
“Oh, you are awake.” A voice said to her. “MHM” she cooed to her husband, Gil Grissom.
“So, was it everything you expected Catherine?” He asked stroking her arm.
Why, yes, Gil Grissom it was.” Catherine replied as she sat up and shook her head. “I think I still have some rice in my hair.”
“You said you have never been to the Pyramids or to New York, so I thought we would start in the Pyramid here in Vegas and end in New York, here in Vegas.”
“That was really sweet and thoughtful of you. Did I mention that already?” Catherine gushed.
“Oh, well, we can’t forget this either.” Grissom stated as he spied her wedding dress on the floor by the bed.
He went to pick it up and, oh so carefully, lay the white silk dress across the back of a chair in the hotel suite.
Catherine let out a giggle.
“What is so funny?” Grissom asked as he returned to Catherine’s side in the bed.
“You didn’t care so much about it last night?” She laughed towards him. “Why don’t you get undressed and come back to bed.” She asked pulling the covers back in the king size bed.
Grissom pursed his lips together as he thought about his wife’s offer.
His blue eyes met her blue eyes and for a moment, that was all that he could see. Her, Catherine Willows, in bed asking him to come join her.
God, she is beautiful. He thought as he continued to take in the sight of his wife.
MY WIFE, she is my wife. He smiled.
“Ah, yes, I will, but first there is the matter of breakfast.” Grissom stated with his brow arched to Catherine as a disappointed look came across her face.
Grissom stepped out into the hallway as Catherine watched, then pulled a hotel trolley into their suite and rolled it next to the bed.
“For you,” he smiled, “we have croissants, imported Dutch chocolate spread, strawberries, strong coffee with cream, and anything else your heart desires.” Grissom stated. “Oh, and one more thing”, he said, as he reached over to the trolley and picked up a single red rose, “For you as well as symbol of my love for you forever and ever Catherine.”
Catherine took the rose as a tear came to her eye.
“I mean it Catherine. We have been through so much together. You have always been there for me. Working with you over these past several years has made me realize just how much I really do love you. You are my best friend, my confidant, my partner, my lover and now my wife. I hope you know how much joy you have brought into my life.”
Before Catherine could say a word, Grissom leaned over and gave her a kiss on the lips. She returned the kiss and they embraced each other.
When they pulled away, Grissom picked up a strawberry. He fed it into Catherine’s mouth as she took a bite.
“Gris-“Catherine began to say when Grissom cut her off again. “I also have one more thing for you.”
“You really shouldn’t have.” Catherine blushed.
“I know.” Grissom whispered in her ear, “but I wanted to. Plus, you have given me the best gift.”
“Oh, and what is that?” Catherine questioned.
“Besides being my wife, you have given me the best gift, you gave me Lindsey.”
