Abyss

Victim
I hope you guys like it.

Las Vegas, the city where normal life goes out the window and is replaced by the billions of neon lights and casinos. Sara Sidle knew the feeling. Even though she lived in Vegas, and was used to the bizarreness that went with it, Sara's life never ceased to get a little crazier every time she stepped out her front door. Sara saw dead bodies on a daily basis and was dating her boss. She thought she had seen it all, but she wasn't even close.

Chapter 1: The Beginning
(Greg’s POV)
It was a rainy day in Las Vegas when the blurry lights of the strip reflected onto drenched streets. Greg walked into the break room glancing at his colleagues but was searching for one in particular. He finally spotted her from across the room lounging on the sofa. She looked so beautiful with her dark hair spread out over the arm rest. He walked up and plopped himself down beside her. "Hey, Sara." He put his arm around her.
She grinned, “Hey, Greg."
He loved when she said his name. This was the first time he had the guts to put him arm around her.
He glanced over at Warrick, Catherine in his lap. Tina had left Warrick for her ex and now Catherine was his newly-wed. The wedding was nice. He couldn't get the sight of Sara in her dazzling bridesmaid's dress out of his mind. He got to dance with her at the reception until Grissom cut in.
"Hey, I got the new Evanescence cd. It’s pretty bad ass.”
"Sweet, I didn’t know it was out yet.”
“Yea well I got connections.”
Just then Grissom walked in with a fairly animated look on his face.
"We have an overload today, 3 cases. Greg, Sara you take the car pile-up off I-15. Catherine, Warrick, you take the officer involved shooting, and Nick and I will take the casino robbery." Grissom passed out the cases and gave Sara a slight peck on the cheek before turning to leave.
That tore every nerve in Greg's body up for many reasons. He couldn't stand Sara being with anyone but him. And what man with that amazing of a woman just gives her a simple peck on the cheek? But then for some reason he felt jealous of Sara.
"Ok Greg, I'm driving this time. And bring your new cd." She gave him that sparkling smile she had and walked out of the break room.
-----------------------
On their way to the crime scene, Evanescence was blaring in the background and Greg was attempting to sing Sweet Sacrifice. Sara just smiled and sang along. She loved hanging with Greg. He was always so fun to be with. He was head banging, playing the air drums with his blond hair sticking out in all directions from the help of copious amounts of hair gel.
“Hey Greg, Greg, Greg!” She was practically shouting over the voice of Amy Lee. Greg quickly turned down the stereo and apologized.
“Sorry, Sara. Just getting into the music.”
“It’s okay. It sounds awesome. So how have things been going with you and Paige?”
“Ahh, we broke up. Just wasn’t working out. How are you and Grissom doing?”
“Pretty good, but he has been acting a little weird lately. Sometimes I think he spends more time with his bugs than he does with me.”
Greg let out a small smile. He wanted to blurt out his feelings, but just managed to say, "You’re lucky.” Sara just gave him a look, but by then they had already arrived at the crime scene so she let it go.
The sight was rather gory. Four cars all smashed together like animals at the zoo. The rain had let up but that didn't stop the blood from running everywhere. Sara approached one of the cars and started to snap pictures of the scene. Greg was behind her noting how many bodies were found.
"Sara… Do you love him?"
Sara turned around and gave Greg the infamous Sara stare. A shiver went up Greg's spine when he realized he might have gone too far.
"Yes Greg." Sara stood up but her shoes slid on the wet concrete and she slipped, but Greg caught her in his strong arms. For many long moments they just gazed into each others' eyes. Sara smiled and managed to stand.
“Thanks, Greg.” She ruffled his hair and went over to another one of the pan caked cars. Greg just stood there but then got back to work with a smile on his face.
--------------------------
She bent over beside one of the other compressed cars. She was taking blood samples when she looked into one of the rearview mirrors and saw Greg's spiked blond hair and his charming face. He was talking to one of the witnesses questioning her on what she had seen. He was wearing that same ear ring he had gotten around Warrick and Catherine's wedding. She remembered dancing with him and looking up noticing the metallic stud. She must have danced with him for 3 songs before Grissom cut in. But she didn't mind. She shook the worthless thought from her mind and proceeded with her work. Besides, she had a date with Grissom that night.
-------------
“Hello?”
“Sara?”
“Oh hi honey.”
“Hey, I think we have to cancel our date for tonight.”
“Why?”
“Because I’m having my house sprayed for termites. It’s a last minute thing. I’m sorry. I’m already on my way to my townhouse. I’m just glad I caught you before you left work.”
“It’s okay. So I’ll call you later?”
“Sure, talk to you later, bye.”
Sara closed her silver flip phone and sighed. ‘Guess I don’t have plans tonight.’
As Sara was driving home, she noticed Greg's SUV outside a local bar and decided to stop by. As she walked in, the smell of alcohol was in the air. Greg was at the pool table playing on his own.
"Hey, Greg."
Greg quickly turned around then smiled at her.
"Hey, Sara."
"Mind if I play?"
"Sure, but I’m warning you. I’m the pool master."
"We'll see about that."
Sara started to feel nervous as she played. 'Why are you nervous? He's your best friend. Just two friends hanging out.' But then things got more complicated when Greg won.
"What do I owe you, Greg?"
"Hmm... ha ha, how 'bout a kiss?" He let one of his huge smiles go.
Sara bit her lip. "Ok."
“Really?”
She approached Greg and met her lips with his. Sara was amazed at how great of a kisser he was. What a spark!!!
“Wow.”
"I have to go. See ya later, Greg." She grabbed her keys and left in a hurry.

Chapter 2 [aww]

Greg felt weak at the knees when he was kissing Sara. It killed him to stop but she had to go. He was floating on air on the drive back to his apartment. He had just kissed his best friend and love of his life. 'What does this mean?' Bottom line was that he had to tell Sara how he felt. If she was willing to kiss someone behind Grissom's back, then she obviously didn't care about him as much as she appeared to.
-----
Sara glanced at Grissom as he was sleeping. Something didn't feel right. She sat up and pulled away the sheets. Sara reached and put on her shirt, jeans and left before Grissom woke. Sara's phone rang. It was Greg.
“Hey.”
“Hey, Sara. Do you think we could talk about last night?”
“Well, I’m kind of busy. We’ll talk later.”
---------
Greg was in the locker room, thinking how to tell Sara he loved her when Grissom walked in looking troubled. Normally Grissom wasn't in there so Greg figured something was up.
"Hey, Grissom."
“Hey, Greg.”
“Is something wrong?”
“Well, I have to go out of town again for another entomologist conference so I had to cancel my plans with Sara for the third time. She’s pissed.”
“Well, I can explain it to her if you want me to.”
“That would be great. See ya Greg.” Greg smiled.

Greg left the lab late in the evening happy as he could be. Sara was pissed at Grissom, so it was now or never. He drove as quickly as he could to Sara's apartment, running up the stairs 3 at a time. He had to take advantage of the moment.
--------------------
The sound of banging on her door woke Sara from her drifting sleep. 'Who could be here this late.' She rubbed her eyes and unlocked the door. She opened the door to a panting Greg.
"Greg, are you okay?"
"Sara, I want to tell you something. Can I come in?”
Sara just looked at him for a minute then moved aside for him to come in.
Greg took a deep breath.
“Sara, the other day when we kissed in the bar, I felt something. It was a lot stronger than anything I have felt with anyone. Sara, please give me a chance.”
"Greg, I'm really stressed out right now."
"Well than let me help."
Greg pinned her against the wall and gave her an extremely passionate kiss. Sara was so stunned she could hardly react. Sara's tongue slipped past Greg's soft lips, deepening the kiss. When he leaned away, she grabbed his shoulders and pulled him back towards her. They began kissing, hands everywhere. They made it to the bedroom where she began to unzip his jeans. He pulled off her tank top and bra and her pants had already fallen down. he kicked off his jeans as she took off his shirt. He pressed her to the bed and began kissing down her neck. She giggled and her hands moved down his boxers.

RING RING
Sara moaned as she opened her eyes to the bright morning light of the sun. She figured out the ringing was the phone so she managed to get out of the tangled sheets and answer on the fifth ring.
"Hello." Her voice slightly groggy.
"Sara?"
Her heart dropped into her stomach. "Grissom?"
"Sara, I’m really sorry that I’ve been canceling our plans but I have something for you. Would now be a good time to come over?"
“Not really. I'm... not feeling well but I'll call you later.”
She hung up the phone before he could protest.
She went back over to the bed and put on her bra and underwear.
Sara couldn't help but lift up the sheets slightly. She smiled. 'Just like when we were in the bio hazard showers.’
She sat down on the bed when she felt Greg's warm breath on her neck. She smiled when he placed his smooth lips on her collarbone. But her smile slowly turned into a frown when she realized what she had just done. She slept with Greg. The guilt that hung on her shoulders was intense. But why did something so wrong, feel sooo good?
She let out a slight moan as he picked up his pace. Sara laid back on the pillow and let Greg take over. She hadn't had this much pleasure in a long time. She smiled and ran her fingers through Greg's soft blond hair. Greg had just reached her bra straps when the thing Sara had been dreading, happened. The door bell rang. "Sara?"
Her brown eyes shot open at the recognition to the low voice. They both stopped and looked at each other in terror. ‘Sh*t!’ Sara lived on the second story, they were trapped. She got up rapidly put on her pajamas. Greg put on his t-shirt and boxers. Sara's gaze went to her closet; Greg acquiesced and shut the sliding doors behind him. Sara pulled her hair back, rushed through the living room, took a deep breath, and opened the door.

Chapter 3 [Oops]

Greg could hear his own deep breath as he crouched in the small bedroom closet. He cursed at the thought of his boss finding out that he slept with his girlfriend. Or soon to be ex-girlfriend. Right? Either way he was in a hell of a jam. He was about to stand when he heard the door open, so he sat dead still. ---
Her palms were sweaty as she grasped the doorknob in her hand, turned and pulled.
"Grissom. What are you doing here?" She was struggling to hide the nervousness in her voice.
"You sounded strange over the phone, I wanted to check on you, make sure you were okay." Grissom stepped in observing his surroundings.
"And why are you still in your pjs? Its 1:30 in the afternoon."
"I told you I wasn't feeling good, I've been in bed all day." She couldn't help but let out a small smile when Grissom turned his back to her.
"Sara, I’m sorry I have been so busy lately. But I brought you something." Grissom pulled out a jewelry box with a sapphire butterfly bracelet.
"It’s beautiful, thank you. But I’m not feeling well so I think you should go in case its something contagious.”
"Are you sure?"
"Yea, I'm really tired and would like to get some rest."
"Okay, well I left my bow tie here last week when we came home from the banquet. I think it's in your bedroom."
"It's okay, I can get it." Sara quickly said, following behind Grissom to her bedroom.
"It's fine I'll get it."
Sara cursed under her breath as Grissom walked in.
---------
Greg perked up when he noticed through the slits of the door, Grissom walking in looking for something.
He could now here what he was saying.
"Why are your covers all jumbled up?"
"I had a bad dream, lots of tossing and turning."
"What was the dream?"
“I can’t remember.”
Grissom bent down below the bed and found the black tie.
"Here it is. But what's this?"
He held an alien key chain with numerous keys on it.
"Those are my friend's."
Grissom raised one of his gray eyebrows.
"When I stayed at your place the other day, I let my friend use my apartment. She must have forgotten her keys. I'll give them to her later." 'Good cover.' She thought. Greg cursed when he realized his car keys had fallen out of his jeans. But Sara, thankfully thought of something. They had moved back to the main room.
"Well I guess I'll let you get some rest." Grissom kissed her lightly and closed the door behind him.
Greg slipped his shirt back off and opened the closet door. Sara had already taken off her tank top and pants.
Greg rushed to Sara as she reentered the bedroom.
"Now where were we?" Greg smiled with his adorable smile.
Sara raised an eyebrow and unsnapped her bra.
----------------
Well, needless to say, they had a very pleasurable day. On Monday, however things got a bit awkward. *_* She felt lousy for pushing Grissom out like that. Yes she had feelings for Greg, but she still loved Grissom. They both were romantic, charming, and sweet. Grissom made her feel unique but Greg made her feel more alive. She walked into Grissom's office knowing she had some explaining to do. The brunette walked into Grissom's office and cleared her throat to get his attention. She walked up and sat in his lap diverting him from his stacks of paperwork.
“Hey, Sara. Are you feeling better.”
“Yes, very. And sure I was upset that you had to keep canceling our plans but you didn’t have to buy me anything.”
“Well, I thought you deserved it.” She looked down and smiled.
“Thank you.”
She kissed him then left noticing Ecklie’s eavesdropping.
-------------------
Sara left with a smile when she turned to see Greg.
"Hey Greg." She pulled him into the employee bathroom and pressed him against the door with a heated kiss. Greg was stunned yet happy for the unusual greeting.
“Hi to you too, Sara.”
She smiled and kissed him on the cheek before leaving the bathroom, leaving Greg surprised yet completely happy. The week went by fast. Grissom left that weekend for a conference which meant Sara and Greg had the whole week to them selves. They left shift as soon as they could and got in Greg's SUV to his house.
The blonde pawed for his house keys in his pockets. Sara moaned and started kissing down his neck which didn't help Greg's boner. Finally he managed to retrieve them and unlock the door. Greg turned around and pressed his lips against hers. He scooped her up in his arms as she squealed with delight. He placed her on the bed in his room and they got into an even more avid love scene.
So that was their thing. Greg and Sara were together but there was still the case of Grissom.

Chapter 4 Things get twisted.

Sara watched as Greg rolled off of her. She smiled and stroked his blond hair. She scooted closer and laid her head on his chest. His fingers moved through her auburn hair and he kissed the top of her head. "I love you, Sara."
"I love you too Greg."
He sat up and looked at Sara straight in the eyes.
"I know, but we've been doing this for almost two months. I want to take our relationship further. But if you don’t, I want you to tell me. Sara please don't play with my heart. I love you too much for that."
Sara nodded her head. Greg laid down again and she returned to her position. 'How can I' she thought, 'when I love both of you.' She tapped his chest with her finger and gazed out the window.
---------
"Catherine, I need your help."
The blonde looked up from her paperwork and smiled at the troubled woman.
"Come in."
Sara took a seat in one of the maroon leather chairs and took a deep breath.
"You know that Grissom and I are dating. But I love another guy as well."
She obviously became more interested in what Sara was saying.
"Who is he?"
“Greg, and we’ve kind of been sleeping together for several months.
She sat back in her chair and temporarily starred at the ceiling.
"Sounds like a lot of drama going on."
"I know, I know."
"Have you, ya know, with Grissom since then."
"Yeah, but Greg is so much better. But don't think I'm that shallow. Greg was my best friend before we started dating." She let out a slight chuckle but it did little to break the intensity of the conversation.
"So Grissom doesn't know?"
"Know what?"
Sara turned around so fast she rubbed her neck at the whip lash.
"Hey, honey. I didn't know you were there."
"I have to go to a meeting. Ecklie's orders. I'll be back late but I wanted to say bye. He gave Sara a kiss on the cheek and gave Catherine a slight wave. Catherine and Sara exchanged glances.
“That’s the other thing. We barely ever see each other anymore.”
“I see. Well, you’ve got a decision to make. Because if Grissom finds out, man, I don’t even want to think about it.”
Sara sighed. Catherine was right; she couldn’t bare the thought of Grissom finding out what she was doing. But she couldn’t just simply shove her feelings aside for Greg. Sara thanked Catherine and left the office. She needed to think. Why must she love both of them?
“Greg what are you doing?” She giggled as she struggled to walk with Greg’s hands over her eyes.
“You’ll see.” He reassured her with a kiss on the cheek. Sara just smiled and let Greg lead the way.
He had driven her to a place she hadn’t seen before and covered her eyes when she had gotten out of the car. When they finally reached their destination Greg removed his soft hands from Sara’s face. She felt a slight breeze on her cheek. Her jaw dropped. They were on a large balcony that had a view of the entire city. In the center were two candles, a rose vase, wine, and two plates of spaghetti.
“Oh, Greg.” She turned to touch him. Greg smiled when he saw his surprise pleased Sara. He pulled out a seat for her and poured them both a glass of wine.
“You really went all out.”
“Yea, I’m glad you like it.”
They ate dinner and afterward the couple stood at the edge of the balcony looking out to the neon lights. Greg took off his jacket and placed it on Sara, then wrapped his arms around her. It felt so good to have his arms around her keeping her safe, warm. Sara sighed and pulled his arms tighter.
“I love you, Greg.”
“I love you too, Sara. And there is something I’ve been wanting to ask you.”
“What?”
She heard Greg take a deep breath.
“Sara, I love you. Ever since the first day I saw you in the lab, I’ve been dreaming of having you in my arms. And now that I finally do, I never want this feeling to end.” Greg pulled a tiny box out of his pocket and bent down on one knee.
“Sara Sidle, Will You Marry Me?”
Sara felt the tears starting to flow down her cheeks. Greg stood up and she gazed into his beautiful brown eyes.
She let out a small laugh.
“Yes.”
Greg smiled so big she thought it would be permanently stuck. He wrapped his arms around her and spun her around. Then he kissed her with all the passion he had in him. He slipped the beautiful ring on to her finger. He couldn’t stop smiling. But Sara had to ask the lingering question.
“But what about Grissom?”
“I don’t know, Sara. I can’t make that decision for you. All I know is that I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”
Greg pulled her close and Sara smiled but suddenly she felt a sharp pain in her shoulder and something warm spill out onto the concrete. She felt herself falling to the ground and Greg was yelling. Why? Then everything went black.

Chapter 5 The Truth comes out [maybe]

Sara awoke in a very white sterilized room, with a huge pain on her right shoulder and a tube in her arm. Catherine was beside her and let out a sigh of relief when she saw Sara open her eyes.
“Sara, are you okay?”
“Not really, what happened?”
“There was a shooting below you guys and one of the bullets ricocheted up and hit you. Greg is a mess. He hasn’t spoken to anyone. Grissom was crazy when he found out. They both have been waiting here all night, and are eager to see you.”
The door opened and Greg rushed in.
Greg ran to Sara and gave her a warm soft hug. Sara wrapped her good arm around Greg and kissed him on the cheek. Greg’s speech was frantic and he had a tear in his eyes.
“Sara- I was so scared. I thought I lost you. But ... You’re okay.” Another tear fell down Greg’s cheek and he pulled Sara closer. Sara then felt the tears approach the back of her eyes.
“It’s okay Greg. I’m fine. Too bad it had to happen after the most romantic moment of my life.” Greg let a small chuckle go and wiped his eyes careful not to rub off the eyeliner. Sara stroked his soft face and kissed him. She cringed at the pain in her shoulder however.
“Did they remove the bullet?”
“Yea, and they caught the guy who shot you too. Thank God.”
Just then Grissom walked in softly closing the door behind him.
“Hey, Sara. How are you feeling?”
“Better.”
The doctor at that point entered the room also.
“It’s nice to see that you’re up Ms. Sidle. Well the bullet entered through your shoulder and fortunately didn’t hit any main arteries, and the baby is fine.”
Greg and Grissom both exchanged glances as if they had just witnessed a massacre.
Their gazes then moved to Sara who had a panicked look on her face.
Grissom was the first to speak.
“Sara, is there something you want to tell us?”
“Yea, I wish there was a better time to tell you. Well, for the past few months I have been in a relationship with Greg.”
“What?!”
“Yea, and unless I have a paternity test, I don’t know whose baby it is.”
Grissom through his hands into the air and stormed out of the room. Sara tried to get up but the pain in her shoulder prevented her from standing.
“Grissom!”
Greg just sat down in one of the charcoal chairs and just starred for a few long moments.
Grissom finally came back in somewhat calmer than before.
“Okay, Sara I want to know why you did this. I thought everything was going great. Did I do something wrong? Why couldn’t you just tell me?”
“Grissom, it’s not that simple. I love you both. And I was going to tell you. After Greg proposed I was going to call you and explain things.”
“Well, bottom line, Sara. You need to choose who you want to be with because apparently one of us is the father of your child.” Greg nodded his head in agreement. He kissed Sara on the cheek and walked out of the room behind Grissom. Sara sighed as Catherine gave her a (you-really-did-it-this-time) look. The overly botoxed woman sat down on the bed next to Sara.
“I thought you were going to talk to him.”
“I was, but then Greg called me up and told me to meet him at his apartment. From there we went to where he proposed.”
“Did you say yes?”
“Aren’t I wearing the ring?”
“So you pick Greg.”
“I don’t know. I still love Grissom.”
Catherine shook her blonde head in discontent. Her volume raised slightly.
“Sara, you agreed to marry Greg. Not Grissom. You can’t have both.”
Sara let this thought ponder then asked the doctor if she could get a paternity test.
----------
Greg and Grissom sat impatiently in the stale waiting room. Greg looked up at Grissom and took a deep breath. “Grissom, I need to tell you something. One, I’m sorry that I dated Sara behind your back. That was low of me. But I love her, and someone else.”
Grissom glanced up from the linoleum floor.
“Who?”
“You.”
“What?”
“Grissom, I love Sara and I would die for her but somehow it just doesn’t feel complete.”
Grissom got up and sat down beside Greg. The blonde had lowered his head.
“I’m sorry.”
Grissom put a hand gently on Greg’s back.
“There’s no reason to be sorry. Sure, you should have told me that you had feelings for Sara, but I haven’t been completely honest with you either.”
Greg raised an eyebrow.
“I love you too, Greg.”
Greg was shocked.
“Really?”
“Yea.” A slight squeal came from Greg and his huge smile was back. He gave Grissom an enormous hug. Grissom was startled but then wrapped his arms softly around Greg and smiled.
--------------
“Are you sure this is correct?” Sara had an incredulous look on her face as she starred endlessly at the paternity test.
“I’m sure.”
“Can you tell Gil and Greg to come in?”
“Sure.”
Greg and Grissom walked in both smiling.
“Greg, Grissom, there is something you should know. The father is…Greg.”
Greg ran to Sara and hugged her gently making sure not to touch her shoulder.
“That’s great, Sara, but Grissom and I have something to tell you.” It was then that Grissom and Greg went on explaining what had happened. Sara was surprised at first but was certainly happy not to have to choose between them.

Chapter 6 The Resolution
Sara and Greg decided to wait until she gave birth to their baby before they got married. Against their wishes, Grissom left for a while, said he needed to get things straight. One night a few months later Sara was up late with the baby. Greg walked in rubbing his eyes and smiling.
“How are my girls doing?” Sara looked up and smiled. Greg kissed Mrs. Sanders on the cheek.
“Fine.”
Greg started massaging Sara’s shoulders. They both kept looking down at little Michelle. Then Greg felt someone massaging HIS shoulders. He turned around and there was Grissom. Sara put the baby down and both rushed to embrace him.
“Grissom!”
“So are you back?”
“Yea, I had to think things through and I can’t live without either of you. I see little Michelle is doing well.”
“Yea, we’d like you to be her godfather.”
Grissom smiled. “Certainly.”
“We’d like you to move in with us too. That is if you want to.”
“Of course.”
So after that the love triangle prevailed. Sara got her Greg, and her Grissom, Greg got his Sara and his Grissom, and Grissom got his Sara and Greg.

{The End/The Beginning}
Greg lied down on the king size bed.
“The baby is fine. She was just hungry. Hey I thought it was my turn to be in the middle.”
“No, it’s my turn to be in the middle.”
“Will you both stop? I’ll be in the middle.”
Simultaneously they both spoke. “Sorry, Grissom.”
Grissom was now in the middle and Greg and Sara cuddled close to his warm body. He kissed the tops of both of their heads and slowly drifted off to sleep.

Abyss, I love you forever. <3! I still can't believe you named the BABY after me. Jeez. I feel so... loved. *tear*
