"Strip Maul" Discussion **SPOILERS**

I notice DB didn't mention/call his wife this time...not sure if it's a first or not.

 

I thought that was fantastic!

As evidenced by last night's numbers, I'm hoping the writers get the picture that more people tune in to the original cast as they were front, right and centre for the entirety of the episode! I loved the scenes with the Mobile Unit, I love all the mini cases that started the episode and I loved how DB and Finn took a well-deserved backseat.

Whilst I was initially disappointed that Ellie wouldn't be making a physical appearance in the episode, I think it worked out for the best. The "it's personal" aspect was very much toned down yet still very prominent within the episode, and having Ellie would have added a bit too much drama. Paul played the part perfectly and I thought the ending was really upsetting. I would like Ellie to return however and most of all I'd like a happy ending between her and Brass (for once).

Really good continuity with Brass' shooting, his ex-wife, "Jersey", there was lots to love about it and it was about time that Paul got some good stuff to sink his teeth in to.

I initially thought the concept of the episode was a little contrived, I do think it was rather plausible them all being on the same street at the same time. (And not everyone who was arrested at the start was involved.) But the case was really interesting, different and original. I liked it very much!

The only thing which felt out of place was the Morgan/Ecklie scenes. I guess it sort of ties in with the father/daughter themes within the episode but it definitely felt like a last minute addition. I didn't think it detracted from the episode at all but it was strange spending most of the night at PD only to jump to the restaurant Ecklie was at.

All in all, a highly enjoyable episode, probably my favourite of the season so far. Hope you realise this now writers: More Sara, Nick, Brass and Greg. Less DB and Finn.
