Captain
<font size="3">Hello World!</font>

Well, the office where I worked at during the day recently closed, which means right now I'm without a job. Not that I didn't see it coming, but so close to Christmas, man, I'm like Charlie Brown over here, complete with the gangly looking tree.

People keep saying Christmas is about love and family and cheer, but let's face it, when they tell you that what they really mean is, "I'm taking time out of my busy day to try and cheer you up, so I hope you get me a really bitchin' present this year!" Which is basically the root of my holiday woes: how to find cheap (and I mean, cheap) presents that are good.

It was much easier when you were a kid, because you could just make a little house out of macaroni, or an ashtray from clay, and your parents would be delighted with it. But now I'm 25 years old and I'm afraid if I tried to make my mother prints of my hands and feet she'll just end up taking back my last name. My charm pretty much ran out 20 years ago.

So if anybody has any ideas on how to get good presents for little or no money, help! Or let me run this by everyone: stray dogs. Easy to catch, but do they make good gifts? How would you react if someone just gave you a stray dog? (I'm gonna wash them first!) What about a cat or a squirrel? Desperate people want to know.

Here's what was hot back in December of 2003:

<ul>[*]'CSI' Scores People's Choice Award Nomination
CSI was nominated for best drama at the People's Choice Awards, which are determined by the fans rather than an academy. Other shows in the same category were Cold Case, Joan of Arcadia, and The O.C.

[*]Petersen Options 'Clandestine'
<font color=yellow>William Petersen</font> (Gil Grissom) served as executive producer and starred in the TNT movie Clandestine. The telefilm is an adaptation of <font color=yellow>James Ellroy</font>'s novel. Petersen portrayed a good cop who falls in with bad cops, only to suffer the consequences of their actions.

Meanwhile, Miami's fiercest gang seeks revenge on a rival gang member and opens fire at his mother's funeral. When the gang discovers that Horatio plans to find them and destroy their illegal smuggling operation, they put out a hit on Horatio. Also, Natalia Boa Vista (La Rue), a new CSI lab technician, creates conflict with a different government agenda from that of the team."

<font color=yellow><blockquote>"The CSI's offices have relocated to a Manhattan high rise which includes new labs, a staff break room and new office equipment with state-of-the-art technology. Also, after expressing his interest in moving out of the coroner's office, Dr. Hawkes joins the team in the field and his first case has him working with Mac on the death of a skyscraper climber. Although hundreds of witnesses were on hand to see the climber fall, the team suspects foul play and believes someone may have caused his death. Meanwhile, Stella and Danny investigate the murder of a New York fashion designer killed while wearing an eight million dollar diamond bra from his own collection."

</font></blockquote>

[*]On Thursday at 9:00pm, CSI returns with the brand new episode "Still Life". This is what you can expect from it:

<font color=yellow><blockquote> "Without substantial evidence, the CSIs begin to wonder if a kidnapping actually took place at all. But when the child turns up unharmed at a local convenience store with a couple claiming to be his parents, Grissom and his team must use what little forensic evidence is available to solve the mystery of what actually happened to the first mother's son."

In addition to the above episodes on CBS, cable channel SpikeTV will of course continue its daily CSI repeats.<center></center>
