Should CSI NEW YORK go upstate more??

Hmm, cross-network programming. That's an intriguing idea.

It would be a cool episode to visit upstate for a case. What it would most likely do is highlight how little money smaller jurisdictions have to take care of their cases and often how much more basic the equipment is. That LV episode where Grissom went into the mountains, wasn't the coroner also the local vet?

Right on the $$.

And for Bruno, I loved "NYPD Blue." Of course, I might be biased, because I'm a southern CA girl who's never been to the East Coast. I'm dying to go.

OK, I read something interesting. It seems that at first they weren't sure about naming the show CSI NEW YORK, but they were also considering the name CSI MANHATTAN. And I think that makes a lot of sense, because they've really only been inside New York City, haven't they??

I don't know if any of you are fans of NYPD BLUE but I remember seeing a great episode in the repeats in which Andy and Bobby had to travel several hours away inside the state of New York to pick up a subject. And that was really cool, because it wasn't a big city at all anymore, but they arrived in a small town where they were excited to have actual police officers come over from the city. And before they could even begin with their case Andy and Bobby had to pose for photos for the local newspaper, because it was so newsworthy to have two real-life NYC detectives!! That just cracked me up, LOL!

Anyway, I wonder if it would also be cool for the CSI NEW YORk guys to do an episode outside New York City? They've done that a few times on the other shows, you know, with CSI MIAMI going to the Everglades and the first CSI going to the rest of Nevada. And I just think it would be really cool if CSI NEW YORK did that too, because most people see the name New York and think it's just the city, but it's a cool thing that it's much more than that!!

Do you think this would also be a good idea?? And what kind of story would work for that? I'm not sure if they even have jurisdiction outside the city, LOL, but that is a good question too.

[I should admit I haven't seen all of the episodes! So if they've already done something like that and I missed it, please let me know here!! And sorry for opening the thread then.]

but csi:ny sounds soooo much better!!

I agree re the cross network programming. I'd love to see them travel to DC and work with Brennan and Booth on Bones.

But I'll just settle for a trip to Vegas...they've did Miami, we need a Vegas crossover! :)

but I guess they have to first explain why Thumpy G in LV becomes Danny Messer in NY... :D

Both Miami and Las Vegas have ventured outside their respective cities by a considerable distance, while NY stays close to home when they do leave the city. I think NYC is supposed to be the whole flavor of the show though. The fast-paced excitement just doesn't extend very far past the city... In my opinion, it's best they just stick to the city and the outlying areas. CSI:Upstate NY would be pretty damn boring.

Agreed. There are other areas very near the city that they could go to change the look of things for an episode. All it would take is a trip to Long Island, or out to the Hamptons, or take the ferry out to Fire Island. In fact, the view of Manhattan from the ferry is pretty cool. The ferry ride to Staten Island is also amazing. NY is big enough and diverse enough that they don't have to go too far to change the scenery for an episode.

I think it would be nice to see a change of scenery on the show. A trip to the Hamptons would be nice -- a high profile murder, perhaps?

In general, though, I think that the city itself adds a lot of flavor to the show. There's so much diversity there that it just gives the show something different.
