Now, I know I'm a newbie and all, but I have to vent about something CSI. Don't get me wrong, I love CSI more than anyone I know but it annoys me to death when a supporting actor or extra from one series ends up in another. For example, in the CSI:Las Vegas episode 'Fur and Loathing' the actor Willie Garson appears as 'Sexy Kitty.' Two years later he appears in the CSI: Miami episode 'Sex and Taxes' as Ian Sutter, a forensic accountant.

I honestly don't see what the problem is. As long as they're playing different characters, in different storylines, then there's no problem.

Another example is the curator in "Caged" (CSI Season 2) he was the guy who shot Brass in CSI Season 6 season finale.

And of course Carmine Giovinazzo (Danny Messer on NY) played Thumpy G in a season 3 episode of the original. If an actor is good enough to play various characters that are different, then they should go for it. It has been done for MANY years. Mark Lenard, best known to Trekkies as Spock's dad, Sarek, played 4 different characters over the years on Hawaii Five-0, and 4 different characters on the original Mission: Impossible.

He also played the Romulan commander in Balance of Terror (the original series) and the Klingon captain in Star Trek: The Motion Picture (very heavy makeup, absolutely unrecognizable!). When an actor has the versatility to incarnate such different characters, why should he not use all his habilities?

There are a lot more actors/actresses who play different characters between all 3 CSI shows. I call it 'Recycling Actors', lol. It doesn't bother me though.

But when you think of it, when they tie the shows to "same world" with spinn offs, it's funny.

To the list, David Lee Smith appereared in two CSI episodes (don't remember his character name) and then he plays Stetler in Miami.

Joel West played Officer Ramirez and Officer Jessop in Miami.

I'm all for actors being versatile but if they're going to tie all the series' together then it makes it odd. I'm not saying that extras should stick to one role on one series all the time. The world would need a LOT more actors that way. I have no problem with Willie Garson being on C.S.I. and on Sex and the City. Just in the same conglomorate of shows bother me.

Carmine starred in Season 3 of Vegas, then went on to be a CSI in NY! :D

I don't think there's anything wrong with it as long as they are in separate episodes and not a crossover with a sow they've already appeared in. For example, I think its okay when David Lee Smith plays Stetler in Miami and whoever he played in Vegas, but Rick Hoffman played Bruno Gomez in an episode of CSI Miami, and he also played a therapist in a Miami/NY crossover. My mum and I both thought that was funny because we were watching the crossover and I recognised him from the earlier episode of Miami. Of course, there is the fact that he was in the part set in NY.
Although I do think it's okay to play different characters on the same show if the episodes are set far enough apart so that hardly anyone will notice, like a fews years at least. But Joel West played Officer Ramirez a few episodes before Officer Jessop was introduced.

I can't agree with this, because it's my absolute favourite game - CSI extra-spotting :D I do it with everything I watch, and get a special thrill if I've seen someone in CSI who went on to be a regular in something else, like T.J. Thyne, who plays Hodgins in Bones, but also appeared in CSI:NY and Vegas. :D
