Not too much of a spoiler but it comes from Ausiello on EW.com

From CBS Winter Press Tour
* Regarding CSI’s Laurence Fishburne problem, Tassler says he’s “finding his character… you can’t deny that [he] is a powerful actor. He has assimilated more into the ensemble. Audiences have found that as he is more comfortable with the team, the team is more comfortable with him.” She adds that research is showing that viewers now feel “he has arrived, he is settled, and he is part of the team.

I'm not sure I completely agree.
Nina, bring Alex O'Loughlin to CSI and let Fishburne go; two problems solved. :D

I feel kind of bad for LF because I really think he was put in a tough spot. He had to follow an icon of a character.

Plus with fans wanting their favour character to finally gain some decent screentime after two years of GSR hogging the screen, it was a tough spot for LF.

I too feel a little bad for LF. I like the guy, I really do, but I'm just not meshing with Langston. Things have gotten better, but he still feels slightly detached.

I just think some actors do better with movies than a weekly tv series. They have a big screen presence, viewers are with the character for 2 hours, and then the actor moves on to the next part. There is no 'fitting in' period; they come in and do their job and leave. And since CSI is not a character driven show, it probably makes it even harder. LF had never seen CSI before. Other than PeeWee's Playhouse, had he done any regular tv?
They could have brought him in for a well thought out season-long arc, like John Lithgow in Dexter, for example. Instead, he is the new 'lead' trying to fit in? The transition period sucked, and now they are trying to correct their mistakes on the fly.
I know it's not all LF's fault; but he did sign on (for big bucks) to be the new lead, possibly without fully realizing the responsibility that came with it. The network's mistake was getting a big name to 'lead' an already successful ensemble show.

I agree. I think they should have gone with a lesser known actor and conversely they should have bumped Marg and George to the two top spots followed by Eric since they've been with the show since its inception and the rest of the cast retaining their spots.

I like the idea of this. They could have brought in LF for the rest of S9 and then continued through S10, maybe for the serial killer arc, and bring that to a conclusion in the S10 finale. Then start S11 with a new "big name" recurring character for a new arc--like Keppler. This way TPTB would have the big name they seem to want (and he/she wouldn't necessarily have to be a good guy) and we'd still have our original characters hopefully getting more screentime.

I like that idea for alternating "big-leads". Maybe not on every episode, but have them appear often enough during the season. Actually, I really like that idea.

Billy Petersen said during season 7 that he would have liked to alternate episodes with Liev Schreiber. One could do a play, while the other films an episode and vise-versa. I guess Liev didn't want to stick around, though.

Maybe he wasn't given a choice. TPTB may have decided to kill him off before he was even cast.

As for Liev, if I remember right, Liev loved working on CSI, but it was too fast paced for him. And, Naomi Watt had just given birth (or was about to) to their first son... I think that was a factor.

So far, I'm not minding Ray this season. I wish though during the three way cross-over more members of each team could have interacted.

Oh, did I miss something or are there details about the Rascall Flatts episode? Are they going to be themselves? Will it be like when John Meyer was on? I'm just curious. ;)

Here's some info on it posted in the Spoiler Reference thread. :)

Thanks for the info Smokey.
I guess I've been watching NY for too long with their 'stunt casting' if it will so I'm sort of skeptical when it comes to 'big names' on CSI.

Did I read that the episode airs in March? That's a ways a way.

I hate it too. :( I liked the Roger Daltrey and Taylor Swift ones, because they weren't playing themselves. But this seems kind of silly. I'll reserve judgment until it airs tho. ;)

Actually, that was Roger Daltrey that thought CSI was too fast paced. Liev only was going to do those four episodes. I think he never had any intention of doing more than that. However, Liev could've thought they same thing.

OT: Jtd, go to the TV/Media thread and see what I posted in there about Moonlight. That is if you haven't already.
