    Scandal
    Season 5 Premiere - Thursday, September 24th at 8pm ET/7pm CT

    about
    Everyone has secrets…and
Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) has dedicated her life to protecting and defending the public images of the nation's elite by keeping those secrets under wraps. Pope's team are at the top of their game when it comes to getting the job done for their clients, but it becomes apparent that these "gladiators in suits," who specialize in fixing the lives of other people, have trouble fixing those closest at hand -- their own. The series is created by Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice). Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers (Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice) and Mark Wilding are executive producers. Judy Smith is co-executive producer.

    Season 1

Quinn Perkins is recruited by Harrison Wright, a representative from Olivia Pope & Associates, one of the most prestigious firms in the country. She soon finds herself engrossed in the fast-paced world of crisis management with a diverse, driven group of "gladiators in suits" who "make problems go away" for their clients. Olivia is drawn into a case revolving around a White House intern named Amanda Tanner, who is claiming to have had a sexual relationship with Olivia's former boss—and lover—President Fitzgerald Grant. At first, Olivia dismisses Amanda's claim, but it soon becomes clear that she is telling the truth. As more of Amanda's story is revealed, including the fact that she's pregnant, Olivia begins to find herself at odds with the man she loved and her former mentor and current White House Chief of Staff, Cyrus Beene.

When Amanda Tanner is abducted and it's discovered that she was murdered by a professional killer, Olivia begins to believe the worst. Meanwhile, Quinn begins a romantic relationship with a reporter, Gideon Wallace, who has begun to piece together the Amanda Tanner story. When Gideon discovers that the Vice President's Chief of Staff, Billy Chambers, is the true mastermind behind Amanda's attempt to blackmail the President and her death, Billy murders Gideon. Quinn discovers her dying boyfriend, but she can't be found at the scene of a murder. Olivia and her team help to hide Quinn's involvement with Gideon's death and save President Grant from a scandal that could ruin his presidency. But Assistant State Attorney
David Rosen knows that Quinn was at the scene of Gideon's death and he's determined to find out what her secret is. Who is Quinn?

    Season 2

Six months have passed and a trial reveals that Quinn Perkins is actually Lindsay Dwyer, the former girlfriend of one of seven people killed in the Cytron office bombing. After losing his case, U.S. Attorney David Rosen investigates the possibility that perhaps Quinn/Lindsay isn’t a murderer. His relationship with
Abby gets him inside access to Pope & Associates. Olivia meets with a secret group about the Rosen situation. This clandestine clan includes energy tycoon Hollis Doyle, Supreme Court Justice Verna Thornton, First Lady Mellie Grant and White House Chief of Staff Cyrus Beene. This is the group that pulled off the greatest conspiracy of all time. They rigged a national election so that an unsuspecting Fitzgerald Grant would become President of the United States.

Olivia Pope continues to navigate through her feelings for the most powerful man in the world while dating past flame Senator Edison Davis. Her true feelings for Fitz can't be denied when an assassination attempt nearly claims his life. The president recovers to learn from Verna Thornton's deathbed confession about the rigged election that won him the presidency. The dying Supreme Court Justice also admits to being the one behind his assassination attempt. All this remains a secret after Fitz suffocates Verna so she couldn't testify to David Rosen.

    10 months pass and
Captain Jake Ballard enters Olivia's world both professionally and romantically. He spies on her at the request of his old military pal who is now his Commander-In-Chief. Speaking of Fitz, Mellie can't take his obsession with Olivia any longer, so she tells the world her husband had an extramarital affair. In other news, David Rosen was in cahoots with Sally Langston's former right-hand man, Billy Chambers, to get proof of the election rigging. He tricks Billy into confessing to murder. He turns over the only rigging evidence to Cyrus in exchange for a job as U.S. Attorney of DC. As for Olivia, she is shocked when she's fingered as the president's mistress. She's rescued from the aggressive press by Jake Ballard's mysterious, dangerous boss. His name is Rowan. But Olivia Pope only knows him as "Dad."

    Season 3

News that Olivia is Fitz's mistress is "handled" when a White House employee takes the fall. Olivia goes to work on the presidential re-election campaign. Jake is released by B613 to later become the head of the organization. The man who was in charge, Rowan/Eli/Papa Pope, eventually reveals the truth about Operation Remington and Liv's terrorist mom, Maya. Olivia can't deny her passion for Fitz, who brings her to Vermont to show her the dream. This is where she'd make jam. Back in the real world, Olivia strikes up a fake relationship with Jake that leads to some real passion.

Flashbacks show that Big Jerry Grant raped Mellie, who has an affair with Fitz's V.P. candidate, Andrew. Cyrus Beene's plan to bring down Sally Langston by throwing James at Daniel Douglas backfires. The V.P. overcomes the guilt of murdering her hubby to run against Fitz for the presidency. Huck engages in some teeth-pulling torture when he learns Quinn betrayed Olivia. These two eventually lick and make up. Charlie exacts revenge by letting Huck know where his family is. Jake kills James and others in the name of B613, which is, indeed, brought down by Olivia until her dad reclaims his Command position. Jake gives David the proof he needs to take them down again. Fitz wins the election after a calculated tragedy takes his son. He can't be with Olivia, who has left her post as head of OPA to fly off into the unknown with Jake by her side.
