*chirp chirp* Where did everyone go? We are finally into September! Less than 1 month til his gorgeous face!
It is unusually quiet, not just here but all over the board. The summer hiatus has been so long,I think people just haven't gotten back to do too much discussing yet.
We do have just a short time more before we will have all new episodes and Ryan/Jon to discuss.

Yeah, we def need more material to discuss!! Only 19 more days :)

I finished watching all of season 9 last night so I'm FINALLY caught up!! What do you guys think of Ryan and Molly? I personally don't like it. At all. Esp in one episode they were snapping at each other the whole time, and at the end she told him that they were going to get coffee. She didn't even ask! She just told him! I'm not feeling one tiny bit of chemistry between them....

^^
I didn't mind Molly, but I also think nothing will come of it which may be a good thing because Miami doesn't do well with that type of storyline for any of it's characters, including that other couple.
Also can't say they were snapping at each other, but I guess that depends on how you viewed it and chemistry is subjective. The actress may be way too busy to even appear again anyway.
I still would prefer a really good heroic story than romance(especially since it can't be done well)for Ryan in season 10.

Wow it was really silent. I even got bored
Very uncharacteristical for me.
And I joined role play and took Ryan's role after I was asked. I totally fell in love. Got so used to Ryan. Uhh... *dreamy eyes*
I wish I'll get to season 9 next year. They seem to be waiting season finished in UK region to snatch back here. By that time I probably finish watching online... (if the site keeps working miracles can happen one night or other...)
Btw I managed to catch that line about "organised cereal", it was so funny and adorable:luvlove:
I didn't mind Molly though.

To me, the whole situation felt forced, as if they only hired this talented actress to be Ryan's love interest. I personally love Leven Rambin and thought she deserved a way more important and substantial role than what this story gave her. The writers set up the actress for a bit of a fall in terms of viewers, and that was completely unfair.

Maybe if they introduced her slowly (like Valera, Cooper, or Dave whom we've all grown to love) and then EVENTUALLY added in a possible interest between the two (rather than posting it in a freaking article), the relationship might have come off a bit more natural and relaxed for the audience.

Instead, her character was lashed at (from fans of all sides for any reason they could think of) leaving only a few viewers to enjoy it.

Mind you, though, I'm actually a shipper of Ryan and a "nameless" character, but I still supported Molly and hoped they would bring her back to fix the situation.

^^

Very true. She's currently casted in the upcoming movie "Hunger Wars" and probably has a ton of new projects in the works. She WAS pretty busy even when she was on Miami.

Too bad she got rid of her twitter. Then we could have asked her if she's heard anything... darn it!

Maybe it's difficult to introduce a character over several seasons and have them stick around to see the storyline through. That type of recurring role could also be worrisome for the actor in that role, they may want more than appearing every once in a while.Maybe introducing someone could have also come off better if Ryan had mentioned her a few times before we met her, maybe even mentioning to Walter that he noticed a new tech in the lab, then later mentioning he was thinking of asking her out for coffee or whatever, than we could have met her and we would only need an occasional mention or appearance after that.

I think this would have happened no matter what. Some lashed out because they felt it should have been the "other couple" that was seen instead. There were also the viewers that were missing another character and basically lashed out at every thing, including the regular characters for no reason .

How would they fix the situation? I'm of the opinion that Miami just doesn't handle relationships well and I doubt that will change. With them it's either slow, dragged out and over the top drama,or too fast and forced.I love Ryan and the "nameless" character, but Miami is so horrible at relationships I don't see them doing them justice,if anything at all.I could be wrong of course, but Miami has shown me nothing that would indicate they would get it right.

True, she did say at one time she would be back for season 10,but I believe that was before she got the movie role and she already had several recurring roles going on before then.Who knows if she will appear now,but I would be surprised if she did.

I just want a really good season for Ryan, romance or not.

They could have continued her role but allowed way more interaction with the entire cast. Just leave the "okay, flirt time" scenes out of the episodes so that she can establish herself. Any actor would be happy to just have a speaking role on a hit show, even if it doesn't end up romantic.

This way, if the actress has a more clear schedule to give the show, a more elaborate story can be written. If the actress doesn't have the time, then no story is needed and the audience isn't left hanging with "well, what happened?"

^^
Unfortunately, there was already a limited amount of episodes to start with for Leven. Given that there was such limited time, maybe Miami shouldn't have bothered at that particular time with the flirting.Just proves what I said,Miami does relationships badly. If they could find someone(that could be available) where the relationship was built a little slower, that would definitely work better, but I'm sure there would still be complaints LOL.

Yeah, I agree. If they established her as a character, and gave her a little background and a few more scenes (WITHOUT Ryan), then I think I would feel differently about it. I have nothing against the actress, I don't want anyone to think that. I just don't like the character or that whole storyline. If they want Ryan to have a love life, then it should probably be something off camera that's mentioned from time to time. The last relationship Miami tried to do turned into an absolute train wreck. I shipped it for so long and then it got to the point to where I hated it.

Anyway, I just hope they don't continue a fling with the two of them. It's already weird now.. :(

I'm all for off camera relationships,I've always felt that works better for these type of shows and wish that Miami felt the same.As I said before,I really don't think the actress will have the time to return, not very frequently anyway.I doubt that the storyline is even bought up again, especially if "the other" couple is bought back into the spotlight.

Omg! Omg!
I saw a whole episode in my dream... Right now I can recall only bits and pieces. But oh it was so real, like I was watching tv (actually I think I saw it that way). And there were really tiny moment of Eric but all the rest was only Ryan and Natalia. I swear it was total influence by doing close-ups on WISC yesterday :shifty:. Gee I was staring too intensive.
LOL I start to think I could become a writer for Miami. I'm pretty sure I can pull off relationships better:lol:.
But lol, it was so cute to see Ry and Nat working whole way together. I kinda miss that in show. Obviously my mind did it for me :guffaw:

Uh just popped in to say hi:D

And btw I dunno if they really should try any relationships on the show. Well maybe between well known characters.
I doubt it can bring any freshness to show just by throwing new characters in only to make some love interests (i don't believe it works in any way)
Well only if that happens natural... Maybeee :shifty:

Not between the well known characters either.

LOL at seeing a whole episode in your dream, and it's Ryan centric.Nice dream BDS.

Well maybe not in this case....

Oh yes:D
Woke up and was like WOOOOOW:lol: Almost started jump around the room but then remembered it was only before 7am and I was suppose to wake only 8:30am. Luckily noone noticed my small joy-dance in kitchen:guffaw:
I even thought, hey why not make it as an episode? Maybe I should write ff and later find similar episode?(like i did with Hurricane story)
Yeah just one thing confused me. Why Ryan had to wear that "fatty costume":wtf: Maybe undercover?(there was something about deathly virus or smth)

ooooooh with these dreams....

I didn't mind Molly, but I'm kind of glad they didn't have a romance. I was fine with the playful, cute, flirty stuff like Morgan/Garcia on Criminal Minds. Like everyone's already said, Miami is not good at writing romantic storylines, so its probably best that they didn't go there LOL.

Well, just 15 more days to go and I think the board (and especially this thread:)) will light up!!

I have admittedly been absent; it's been hectic.

I thought the introduction of Molly was okay; I didn't mind her but the whole thing seemed forced to me. ("Gotta give Ryan a romantic interest"!!!! Here *shove character in Ryan's path*). And considering these writers' track record with romances, I would almost rather see flirting than an actual romance for our Ryan. Maybe instead one or two quality storylines perhaps?!!
