Re: Ryan/Jon #27

MiamiWolfe, great idea about the highs and lows of season 8. I won't go into to much detail (as some of you have) btw I love reading your posts; you are so articulate:

BEST SCENES:

Time Bomb - His arrest and then the subsequent arrest of
Stetler.
Count Me Out - Ryan's rescue of Natalia and his concern for her after.
Mliami We Have a Problem - Tons of Ryan - I was in heaven.

COMEDIC SCENES:

Bone Voyage: Ryan, Walter, and the bear.
Bad seed: Ryan,Walter, Jesse at the well. Ryan picking poo off his shoe (yuk) I'm guessing that is what it was.

BEST OUTFITS:

Time Bomb: What a hotty.:drool::drool:
All Fall Down: I don't normally like white, but I tell you Togo can pull it off...well you know what I mean. And, why couldn't he have jumped onto that pool...dang-it. If I have to go and drench the man myself I will. Ah but then again I would probably get arrested. It would sure be worth it though.:guffaw:

WORST SCENES:

Anything that made Ryan look stupid, inept, lazy, and insensitive.

WORST SCENES:

Anything that made Ryan look stupid, inept, lazy, and insensitive.

You mean the first part of the season and then a bit?

You are so right; it was mianly the first half of the season. I think the biggest one was Ryan wanting to eat in the middle of an investigation; he wouldn't have done that before. Oh and then not knowing what a cougar is and having everyone explain everthing to him. TPTB and their tinkering with his character; just made me want to slap them silly.

I was pleased by the end with the re-emergenge of the Ryan we all love; smart, sexy, dedicated to his job and coworkers and Ryan has always had a smarta** sense of humor, so I enjoyed the addition of Walter. This really gave Jon a chance to let his comedic talents shine.

That eating thing really made me mad and was the worst of all the out of character things that were done .I know what you mean about wanting to slap someone silly
I was thrilled when we started seeing our Ryan again. Once he started to emerge,he just kept getting better and better. It's almost as if Ryan was getting stronger with each episode if that makes sense. It's like I said before,he was Ryan again...witty,sexy and confident.

All Fall Down: I don't normally like white, but I tell you Togo can pull it off...well you know what I mean.

I think you had it right the first time... He could pull the clothes off! None of us would complain...

HAH! Yeah, you walked right into that one, Slower...

Re: Ryan/Jon #27

Ryan can pretty much be a quieter Gil Grissom. Dedicated to work, yet socially half-witted. Dedicated to doing his job and not exactly one to search for a new usage of a certain word, like "cougar" in Urban Dictionary, or asking his beer buddies about certain words. Maybe, he's not more into the social or celebrity scene like Calleigh and Natalia are. With their guilty pleasures of reading celebrity tabloids or watching reality shows. Even when Ryan would tell Valera that books can contain toxic substances, or something, and that some people think that television can be bad for their health, he comes off to me as a social klutz.

I know that Ryan has a fear of heights. But, I'd wish that he was clearer with his explanation of why he didn't go into space in Miami, We Have A Problem to the British guy. It would've been cool if he overcame his fear and go off into space, giving Jesse less screen time.

Maybe, the writers wouldn't know what the hell to do with his character. The dumbing down of Ryan, with Walter telling him how to do his job and Ryan scribbling on the boards as if he can't write is just needless.

Re: Ryan/Jon #27

I don't think this scene has been mentioned, but one of my favorite scenes is when Ryan gives the big belly laugh when Walter says his mother made him study art history. His laugh is wonderfully contagious, and I love playing it over and over. I also loved the elevator scene with Tom when he leaves him stranded because he is so absorbed in the case.

BTW, isn't it time to give this thread a title?

I know I'm so bad. I did however, get part of my birthday wish and that was to see Jon shirtless; so I am a pretty happy camper. :D Too bad it wasn't on the show; I would of loved to see him move:drool::drool:...ok had to get the bucket out; my imagination just ran away with me.

I got my birthday wish too(I think our birthdays were within days of each other)
I know that Ryan has a fear of heights. But, I'd wish that he was clearer with his explanation and of why he didn't go into space in Miami,

Fear of heights is a perfectly good reason, why get over it? For once the writers remembered continuity.

and Ryan scribbling on the boards as if he can't write
Totally disagree with this. Ryan came off as pretty smart scribbling on the board in this scene, plenty of smart people have horrible hand writing, brillant people in fact.

You're right, that scene hasn't been mentioned. I did love that laugh.

Season 8 Ryan Review (although I havent seen every episode)
Favourite

Episode - This would have to be Time Bomb. Although I didnt like Stetler being the bad guy, and certain members of the team could have been more supportive of Ryan, his screentime was great. And of course he was wonderful, as always. I love it when he gets a chance to really act.

Moment- When he was all concerned about Natalia's hearing. I love seeing his compassionate side.

Outfit- I actually really liked the outfit in the finale. Although it seemed very un-Ryan, he looked fab. I also liked the black suit he wore, when he was doing that 2nd job.

Comedy moment- Got to be the bear scene. Laugh out loud funny. But Ryan has had some funny lines this season, mostly through the interaction with Walter.

Least Favourite
Episode- I dont really have an episode I didnt like him in. It was more moments in episodes that I disliked. Particularly Bad seed and that farmer remark. Not good.
Although the first episode of the season was very disappointing, with the almost total lack of screentime, so I suppose I would say that one.

Moment- See above. Plus the infamous leaving the scene for food line. Totally out of character.

Outfit- He looks good in anything. And I havent seen the epi where the sweater vest makes a return yet!

Hottest scene- The finale, jumping over the fence and then beside the pool with Delko. I could rewatch that a few times!

Positive points- Yeah, Ryan has some friends, and they dont judge him straight away.
Funny scenes with Walter
Some great acting, as always by Jon. Who looked hotter every episode

Negative points- Making him look stupid at the start of the season, having everyone explain stuff to him.
Still not much personal stuff for him, how long must we wait?

Re: Ryan/Jon #27

Ohhhhh... LOL. My birthday was just a couple of weeks ago too. So I guess Happy Birthday to all three of us! :D

I am still hoping for the same thing too, Slower! I think I may stop breathing though. I'm with you on the bucket thing, but I have to say... it's not very difficult to let your mind run away with you when Jon is involved!!! SO don't feel alone...

Oh. I remember that laugh! What episode was that? I can't for the life of me remember... but I do love the scene!!!

ETA: I just remembered...It's from, Dude, Where's my Groom !!!! ;) Haha! I love it!

Re: Ryan/Jon #27

Do you know which season was the best one for Ryan in terms of biggest screentime?
I think it was season 3 but I'm not sure.Season 8 has to be one of the worst.

I'm not sure? But I do know the end of 5/first of 6 was awful! He was fired during the time, and they were hot in heavy with showing Jake. They showed Ryan in every episode (I do believe) but it was VERY minor parts, maybe only for a second.

3 had a good bit, and I'm thinking 4 was pretty fair. 7 was pretty decent. The first half of 8 was HORRIBLE!!!
I agree pretty much with everthing here.Seasons 3 and 4 were good, and the begining of 5 wasn't bad. 6 was really bad especially the start of the season. Cyber-lebrity was the only episode he was featured a lot in.7 was okay, not perfect but it also featured the same two characters working together way too much. The first half of 8 was horrible in almost every way concerning Ryan.

I also agree. 3 was good; Ryan was being established. 4 and 5 up until the time he got fired was good as well. 6 (with the exception as greatfan pointed out Cyber-lebrity) was bad overall, even after he was reinstated. 7 was okay and 8's first half--yuck. A vast improvement in both screentime and Ryan becoming Ryan again in the second half.

I suspect this is entirely made up by a fan, & completely false. For one thing, I imagine Lady Gaga has one enormous fanbase/following & if this series were true then this facebook page would not only have 17 fans. She would also be promoting the hell out of it herself if it were true. I've looked all over & have found nothing for this 'series' (with the exception of the lonely facebook page) & none of the actors listed (or networks) have anything related to the series either. It's likely false & nothing to worry about.

That makes complete sense; a star of Lady Gaga's statue would have made some reference to it already. I maybe completely off base but I thought I read Teeth was actually making fun of celebs. Doesn't sound legit or something Jon would be involved in.

Here's to a better season 9!
I'll vote for that!!

Anything that made Ryan look stupid, inept, lazy, and insensitive.
You mean the first part of the season and then a bit?

Something that wasn't at all necessary:(

TPTB and their tinkering with his character; just made me want to slap them silly.

If I live to be a 1,000 years old, I will never understand this. Why tinker? I could see if it was going somewhere MAYBE. But tinker and then bring back the old Ryan? Doesn't make sense.

Walter and Ryan play off each other so well. I was so glad to see Ryan return.

I agree. They should build on it next season (listening tptb?!)

Ryan can pretty much be a quieter Gil Grissom. Dedicated to work, yet socially half-witted. Dedicated to doing his job and not exactly one to search for a new usage of a certain word, like "cougar" in Urban Dictionary, or asking his beer buddies about certain words. Even when Ryan would tell Valera that books can contain toxic substances, or something, and that some people think that television can be bad for their health, he comes off to me as a social klutz.

I can see what you are saying; he could be a little like Temperance Brennan on Bones. Ryan, because of his OCD could be so focused on his job, that he shuts out everything else around him. I can see him more not knowing about who Demi and Ashton are before him not knowing what a cougar is though. I think his friendship with someone so outgoing like Walter is starting to help him relate better. Ryan is basically a kind caring person who at times isn't sure how to express that (at times he can come off as a bull in a china shop). I find his akwardness endearing.

I know that Ryan has a fear of heights. But, I'd wish that he was clearer with his explanation of why he didn't go into space in Miami, We Have A Problem to the British guy. It would've been cool if he overcame his fear and go off into space, giving Jesse less screen time.

His fear of heights is the one thing the writers managed to remember about him (Wrecking Crew) and add to the story.

Maybe, the writers wouldn't know what the hell to do with his character. The dumbing down of Ryan, with Walter telling him how to do his job and Ryan scribbling on the boards as if he can't write is just needless.

If they haven't figured Ryan out by now, who knows if they ever will (except of course to get him into trouble:rolleyes:)?

Re: Ryan/Jon #27

I do really hope next reason would be better for Ryan he'll gets more screentime. It's the hope i'll keep up whole summer. :)

I heard about an article (can't find it again and I hope that I could find or someone else could find it and would post it again) that mentioned we should learn more about Ryan next season. They also mentioned Jesse's ongoing story arc with his dead wife and how we should learn more about Walter as well. Hopefully this is the case. Ryan needs a background!!!!
