Now that season 8 is officially wrapped up (sorta ....considering the cliffy) -- how did everyone feel about the season as a whole?
Feel free to comment on both the positive and the negative, and review it in any fashion you'd like.

My faves, highlights, the bad, etc. (You all don't have to do it this way, a normal post is fine, I just found this easier for me :p)

Comedy Award:

The negatives:
Frank's airtime; not enough
Eric and Calleigh storyline; too much

Natalia/Eva's 5 missing episodes; don't let it happen again

A few more highlights worth a mention:
Kyle's return
Johnny Whitworth as Jake Berkely
And though I was on the fence at the beginning of the season....Jesse and Walter, welcome aboard.
 
I enjoyed this season a great deal. The additions of Tom, Walter and Jesse breathed new life into the show and one could see the actors were into it even more being mixed and matched with the new guys.

The CSI crossover was great. IMO Miami's ep was the best of the three and it gave us one of the funniest moments on the show

Good to see Kyle and Jake again. However there were some lowlights to this season (See my sig for one of them) and I wasn't sold on "Ghost Calleigh". I think there were a couple of other eps I didn't care for but I can't remember them off the top of my head

Of the regulars I think Rex Linn got the short end of the stick this season but what little he had he did good with. Same with Eva and David and Boti Ann Bliss (I hope she returns next season though)

Overall a great season. Better than season 7 though which I also enjoyed.

The "betrayal" of Horatio. Lame, lame, lame. :rolleyes:

Season 8 Team Trooper Award:
TIE: Natalia with her hearing and Ryan with always being the scapegoat.

Comedy Award:
Jesse/Ryan/Walter. I love these guys.

The negatives:
The E/C romance.
Horatio not getting more screen time.
Natalia not getting more screen time.
Frank being MIA most of the season.

Best quote:
"For you, I'll be gentle." - Ryan, "Miami, We Have a Problem."

A few more highlights worth a mention:
Jesse talking off his shirt in "Hostile Takeover" :drool:
The Ryan/Stetler showdown in "Time Bomb"
Horatio Caine/Ray Langston meet ("Bone Voyage"). (I say this because I've seen "King of New York" and it was kind of funny to see DC and LF when they weren't pointing guns at each other and swearing up a storm.)
R.I.P. Rebecca Nevins :( She was a good antagonist.
Michael Madsen guest appearance = win.
Hello to the quirky Dr. Tom Lohman. Glad to have ya.
 
When I first heard Adam was leaving and the show was getting two new additions to the cast, I was not pleased. I thought there was no point but I was wrong. Eddie and Omar have been great additions to the cast, I love their chemistry with the team but specifically with Jonathan. They are like the three musketeers and I've enjoyed watching them!

I was shocked about Stetler, he has been a character with shades of grey but never did I imagine he would be capable of murder. Rebecca was not a favorite of mine but seeing the autopsy was really sad.

All in all, I thought Season 8 was great and I am looking forward to season 9

Show Stopper--Calleigh in the audience while Phenix (sp?) plays guitar for a small club

Liar Liar award for most overhyped plot:

"Deserves a Hug" award:
Another tie:
Ryan for being written like a snarky, clueless idiot
Rick Stetler for having a Dan Cooper pulled on him.

Wile E Coyote award for hokiest science:
Bolt Action--a filthy rich guy would go through all the time and trouble to bury that cable BY HIMSELF and wait for a bolt of lightning?
Time Bomb--How EXACTLY did Rick Stetler get into Ryan's apartment to hide those diamonds? Did he know where the spare key is?
Time Bomb--What exactly WAS Sully's connection to all this, and what finally happened to him?
Delko for the Defense--The guys set up all that computer equipment in that little storage unit. Do they build them with multiple outlets? Phone jacks?
Point of Impact--Escalades are high-end SUV's. Were airbags and seat belts optional on that particular model?
Backfire--Calleigh's up and moving in 6" heels the day after going into cardiac and respiratory distress.

The Three Musketeers--Walter, Ryan and Jesse

"Uncle Ted" Award (Overstayed his welcome):
Eric Delko. I was SURE he was supposed to be gone this season???

Biggest Negatives of Season 8:
Ryan written as a snarky jerk and a clueless idiot
Season started out great but slowly turned into "Eric Loves Calleigh"
Was Stetler IAB or SOC?
Sloppy, rushed writing all around with character inconsistencies. Some pointless, terrible jokes.

Honorable Mention:
Stetler FINALLY made Lieutenant! YAAAAAAAY!
More Dave Benton
They brought back Kyle. Very respectful toward military. Dared to take on a subject like honor killings.
Sully was a great character, even though in only a few epis.

I'll answer some of the ones I remember (truthfully, I've only seen most of the episodes once).

Best closing scene:

Probably the end of 'Show Stopper'. I loved the song at the end and how the episode wrapped up.

Worst hype/conclusion:
Horatio's betrayal. :rolleyes: Also, weren't Eric and Calleigh supposed to face some defining moment that would change their relationship for the rest of the series? Not sure I saw anything significant.

Season 8 Team Trooper Award:

Natalia! She was awesome this season -- at least during the episodes where we saw her. I also loved how she handled Eric's investigation.


Comedy Award:

Walter. :D I love him. He made the episodes so much more fun to watch.

The negatives:

Delko coming back.

A few more highlights worth a mention:

The fact that Jesse knew Speed and recommended him to Horatio. :D Continuity holes aside, that part of the episode made this Miami fan smile.

Overall, this was a good season.

Oooh, I forgot about that one. That was the only part of that ep I liked. *sigh* I miss Speed. :(

The season, in my opinion began very well especially considering the idea Eric Delko left the lab...then they had to ruin everything with his return :rolleyes:
 
That was a good season overall.The addition of Walter is the best the producers ever made.My favorite episodes are Out Of Time,Bad seed,Bone Voyage,In The Wind,Dishonor(it was great to see Kyle back) and Mommie Deadest.
The episodes that I didn't enjoy that much were Bolt Action,Point Of Impact and LA(Idon't like Jesse that much).

Horatio and Kyle's interaction-- Dishonor (Lots of emotion!!)

The best 'rush':

I would have to say the first scene of Backfire! Love how it got started.

Best closing scene:

In the locker room... the tension between Natalia/Delko after she discovers he's wearing a wire. -- Meltdown

BONUS: The team gathering at the ending of Hostile Takeover.

Worst hype/conclusion:

The ending of All Fall Down. I'd already seen it happen about a thousand times, in different promos! It was the worst kept secret.

Season 8 Team Trooper Award:

Natalia. She was MIA way to much for my taste, but she was stellar when on screen!!! Love her! (Bonus to Mr. Wolfe for being the bad guy who wasn't... bad... yet again.)

Comedy Award:

Jesse/Ryan/Walter... the bear scene-- Bone Voyage

Ryan/Jesse playing rock paper sissors-- In Plain Sight

Ryan and Natalia in Backfire. "Buzz saw..."

In general, Ryan/Jesse/Walter. They're awesome together! ;)

The negatives:

Natalia's absence!

Not enough Ryan during the first half of the season.

The character assasination to Wolfe's character- there were a few episodes even I didn't know WTH he was thinking...

Most Memorable Lines :D

"I'll be Gentle" Ryan- Miami, We Have a Problem

"OH SNAP! That's the Miami way..." -Ryan- In Plane Sight

"I don't have to out run the bear, I just have to out run you!" -Walter- Bone Voyage

"Pine needles!" -Calleigh- Die by the Sword (LOL! IDK why I remember that one so much)

Some random thoughts I want to share....

Jesse and Walter.. what an addition to the team! I completely adore them. I wouldn't trade them to have Eric back in a million years. I'm fine with Eric rejoining the team, but do not take these boys away!

How many times can Ryan get blown up and come out without even flinching? (Good thing, though) Let's hope he deals with falling over the same way....

Natalia's hearing aid finding Delko's wire. I just love how they worked that in. So very smart!

Speaking of Nat.. did she and Jesse just... patch things up? Or has it been forgotten that he stood her up, and she was uber!pissy at him? :lol:

/Shallow moment\ I thought Ryan looked hot at the first of the season, but at the END? WOW. I didn't know it was possible to change so much in one season. Hair. Weight. Clothes!!! (Please let him continue to dress like he has in the past two episodes! Even the leather jackets are fine too...) Just when I thought he couldn't be hotter... he is! /Shallowness

Eric/Ryan jumping the fence in the finale. I'm sorry, but that part is just to good to let slide.... ah!

Over all season grade- A! Loved it. It was better than S.7... and I LOVED S.7.

I know I forgot some things.... BUT that's okay.

LOOKING FORWARD TO SEASON 9!!!!!! :p

The negatives:
Lack of Ryan time especially at the start of the
season.
Natalia missing all together for several episodes
Horatio's time decreased.
Could have had more Frank time.
Ryan's character assassination earlier in the season.(who was that?)
There was Jesse overkill earlier in the season(it has since gotten better)
Rick Stetler should not have gone out the way he did.I always saw him as a necessary irritant,
trying to do the best he could .He and Horatio had some great scenes in earlier seasons and he'll be missed.

A few more highlights worth a mention:
Kyle's return
Johnny Whitworth as Jake Berkely, (like him a lot)
After Jesse and Walter were toned down a bit,they were very nice
additions to the cast.
Ryan and Walter working so well together,nice friendship!
We got to see a little personal side of Ryan in
Meltdown,like his home ,the fact he plays golf etc.
Thought Walter's line," some team", from Meltdown summed up perfectly
the problem of the team dynamics.
Most Memoriable Line
Ryan,"I'll be gentle". Laughed out loud at that one.

Bounce Back Award (different than trooper awards)
Ryan and Natalia, they were stars toward the end of the season.
Natalia shined in every scene she was in.Ryan was himself again, witty,confident and gorgeous.
Hotness Award
Ryan, no explanation needed.
Loved that little swagger in his walk as he escorted Rick after his arrest.

Stetler/Sully betrayal. I still don't understand the motivation for those two. And even if they had a good time stealing cars and heroin and whatnot, they set up the murder of Rebecca Nevins. I never liked Rick, but he never pegged me as someone who had the capacity to order someone killed.

How could I forget the most important award?!?! :drool: (I loved that walk when he escorted Rick too......) I could name a million more times, too. HAH!
