The ball dropped this past week, and the CSI franchise fell with it.
On Monday, CSI: Miami's repeat episode took a distant backseat to Dick Clark's Primetime New Year's Rockin' Eve on ABC. The New Year's programme pulled in 8.56 million viewers, rising to 9.80 million at the half-hour. The show was number one in both overall viewers and in the 18-49 demographic with a rating/share of 2.8/10 at 9:00pm and 3.4/12 at 9:30pm. Miami came in second with 5.48 million viewers in the first half-hour, rising to 5.60 million in the second half. In the vital demo, the forensic drama had 1.3/4 in the first half-hour, dropping to 1.2/4 at 9:30.
The repeat of CSI: New York came in fourth on Wednesday against the return of an established show (NBC's Law and Order, 13.44 million), a sporting event (The Fiesta Bowl on Fox, 11.54 million) and a reality show (Supernanny on ABC, 9.13 million). New York had 6.54 million viewers and a score of 1.8/5 in the 18-49 demographic.
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation was the only member of the franchise to earn the number one spot in overall viewers, pulling in 13.49 million with it's repeat episode on Thursday. Although the series scored the highest in viewers, it came in third in the crucial 18-49 demographic with 3.4/8, leaving the top spot to the premiere of Celebrity Apprentice (4.5/12).
