Well Dustin Abraham told me yesterday that "promoting it is not Billy's style. He's classy like that." Still, the show needs viewers. You need to promote something like this!
Ratings aren't too great.
After a month of repeats, CSI returned slightly lower in the ratings despite an eagerly anticipated cameo appearance by former star William Petersen.
CSI delivered 13.8 million and a 3.0 preliminary adults 18-49 rating, down 9% from its last original episode back in early January (video of Petersen’s return here).
The crime procedural wasn’t the only show with ratings in the red last night, however, with most shows posting declines. Increased competition likely played a role, since for the first time since the start of 2011 every broadcaster aired first-run episodes across the board. Fox led the night with a steady American Idol (21.8 million, 7.5). Bones (10.2 million, 3.3) was down 15% from last week’s high now that CSI is back.
That says after a month of repeats... ? Wasn't the last new episode just two weeks ago? maybe I read that wrong, anyway... I hope rating pick up. I don't want any of the CSI franchise to lose more viewers.
Especially now that the show is on it's 12th season. The network is all about money and ratings so it's surprising for me that they would actually not promote something this big just because Billy asked for it. He's an executive producer and all but it's still :wtf:. I wouldn't think they would accept it. He is still Ex-Prod right?
I've seen posts on some other boards where people had no idea he was going to appear; and they wished they had known. Maybe the online viewing and dvr playback will increase with this one. Every show had a new episode last nite for Feb sweeps; and AI has changed the landscape of Thursdays somewhat by giving a strong lead in to Bones. CSI, on the other hand, has #*** My Dad Says, which is awful, IMO.
I know CSI is in the same time slot as Greys has it always been up against Bones. CSI did win and it's a much older show.
