Who is this Gerrard guy? I could be wrong but I'm thinking he's the director of the department. If anyone knows for sure let me know. I'm just curious about this.

In the episode# 319 ,A daze of wine and roaches, Mac says to hawkes that he is 'Deputy Inspector Gerrard'- They also say he has: Authority over the crime lab but is also the right-hand man to the chief of detectives.

yea in episode # 321 Mac seems pretty annoyed with him.

From what I'm guessing, Gerrard must be some U.N. official or the head of some police department and Mac's investigation of an alleged corrupt officer and working to prove his worker Hawkes' innocence put Mac at major odds with Gerrard. I don't view Gerrard as Mac's enemy but as a rival. Rival and enemy are NOT the same thing.

I agree. Mac and Gerrard are both on the same side, just coming from different perspectives on things. Gerrard knows how to deal with the political aspects of police work, Mac just doesn't give a damn about it.
