Can anyone help me with Photoshop Actions? I can't quite get them to work much for me. I downloaded some, but then when I try to apply them, they don't work. The only one I got to work was a black and white one.

Does anyone know if there are any light brushes (for Photoshop 7) anywhere that are like the little dotty light things on my banner (those were in the scene when I capped it)?

    Thanks.

If you check out DeviantArt and run a search in the Resources section for 'Bokeh' you'll get that soft focus light effect you're looking for.

    like these :D

Use can use a texture much like a brush and apply different effects to the layer.

I didn't think about using textures. I think I downloaded some of those kinds one time. Now I'll have to search through my folders and find them and save them as patterns in photoshop. Thanks for the link. I can never have too many of those textures. :)

You're welcome! I'm addicted to fonts and textures myself. I just checked my textures folder and I have 8,649 files in 29 folders... or ...I can't decide!

Okay so I was wondering, I notice some people put coloured boarders around their graphics/artwork and I want to know how this is done in photoshop please if anyone knows how.

On the color palatte, there's a tab that says "styles"... sometimes that'll put a yellow border (one of the style options) on it. There might be one for a black border too, I'm not entirely sure. There is one style that makes a silvery-blue border too.

Here are examples of how the silvery blue and yellow borders look:

You could probably make some of the other styles work, but you'd have to carefully use the eraser over the person's face or whatever. I tried it, didn't work too well for me.

If there is another way to do a border in Photoshop, I'm not aware of it. If I need any other borders, I usually either use a PS brush that's a border brush or I just use PSP.

    Hope this helps. :)

The way I get a border:

    1. Merge your photo/icon (ctrl-shift-E)
    2. You then have the background image in your layers. Unlock this if it is locked (double click)
    3. Edit --> Stroke
    4. Make the width as large as you want. I usually select 1px
    5. Then select your color that you would like the border to be. This should then give you your border.

    Result:

    Hope that helps!

Thanks, Whit. I set mine on 1, but it was thinner than I wanted, so I tried 3 or 5, can't remember which and it was thinner than I wanted too, so I tried 8 and it was just right. :)

I combined the stroke trick with the style trick and got these:

Do you have enough free (and unfragmented) space on your hard drive? Or did Photoshop crash before you got that message?
