Desertwind
Head of the Day Shift
This is a new show and boy was I pleasantly surprised. It stars Jimmy Smits, when isn't he good in anything he does? He's got his own brand of charm~ It was fast paced, great dialogue, great cast and great story. I highly recommend that everyone catch this new show and judge for yourself:bolian:
THE SETUP
Jimmy Smits stars as a contentedly conservative yet party-hearty Supreme Court Justice Cyrus Garza, who prematurely resigns from the bench~
THE TWIST
Garza becomes a crusading lawyer advocating justice on hot-button topics such as gay marriage and the death penalty. Smits welcomes tackling the issues:"I was looking around for a script that was about something", he says~
THE BUZZ
When exec. producer John Eisendrath describes the show as "a little bit of fantasy", he's politely admitting the premise stretches credibility more than a smidgen. A Hedonistic Supreme Court Judge sounds like more fun than a sanctimonious do-gooder, and Smits promises Garza will remian a bad boy:"He will always be gambling and womanizing, that's part of the fun of the character--that's not a flaw in his mind. He lives his life in the open and has eccentricities, and they get him in trouble down the line, and that makes for interesting drama~This will be shown again for viewers who haven't seen it I watched it on Wed, at 10:00~
The first episode he defends a guy who's been in prison for 12 years and swears he is innocent. So Garza takes on his case, and he was innocent. The perp. had threatned a eye-wittness, that went undergorund, because she was afraid for her life and her two little boys. Garza through much deep exploration, fins her, & she testifies about the real crime. Riveting, suspensful and intriguing~
Also starring Jesse Bradford, Carley Pope, David Ramsey & Ellen Woglom [I've never heard or seen any of these people, but they were all fantastic]~
Friday night on NBC at 10:00~
