NCIS: NEW ORLEANS

NCIS: NEW ORLEANS is a drama about the local field office that investigates criminal cases involving military personnel in The Big Easy, a city known for its music, entertainment and decadence. Leading the team is Special Agent Dwayne Pride, aka "King," a native of New Orleans who is driven by his need to do what is right. Working with Pride is Special Agent Christopher LaSalle, who plays hard but works harder; and Special Agent Meredith "Merri" Brody, a charismatic and tough interrogator who transferred from the Great Lakes office in search of a fresh start. Supporting them is coroner Dr. Loretta Wade, who is as eccentric as she is smart, and her brilliant and quirky Forensic Scientist, Sebastian Lund. This colorful city that harbors a dark side is a magnet for service personnel on leave, and when overindulgence is followed by trouble, Pride's team is at its best.

I thought the premiere was pretty good. (I didn't watch the two-parter on NCIS last season, so I only have a limited knowledge of the characters from that.) Parts of it seemed heavy-handed, trying to infuse everything with that New Orleans feel (I think it would be better if they'd cast at least one NO native, for one thing), but it's definitely a series that relies a lot on its setting. I think that's a definite strength for the show.

I like Loretta a lot. Sebastian's okay, I think there needs to be a bit of an adjustment period to figure out how much is too much. But I do love the way those two play off each other, it's a good dynamic. (And I liked CC's comment--I don't remember if it was a BTS video or an interview--about not playing Loretta as being annoyed by Sebastian. She's just used to him and his quirks, and I like that.) Meredith and Christopher have a good dynamic too, although I think there needs to be a bit of settling for Meredith as well, so the newbie thing isn't so heavy-handed. Pride's alright, but I generally prefer the more 'secondary' characters to the head honcho, so there's that. :lol: I'm looking forward to more interaction between Loretta and Meredith, I think that would be fun. (Like when Meredith finds out who owns the house she's staying in, that should be good to watch.)

Overall, I thought it was a nice start, and the ratings were good. The fact that everyone involved seems invested in the show's success will help, I think.
 
Scott Bakula ftw! Hah, I liked the new episode. Fun to see where the characters go.

Crossover episodes were total asskicking, I mean Mark Harmon and Scott Bakula together. Muahahahah!

Made much more sense than the one they tried to get on thru NCIS LA.
