NBC Universal To Launch 24 Hour Crime Show Network

CSI Files

Captain
For everyone who thought the future of television consisted of 24 hours worth of crime shows, the future starts on January 1st.

Due to the massive popularity of shows such as CSI and Law and Order, NBC Universal recently decided to create Sleuth TV, a network dedicated to show all crime shows, all the time - for those who can't get enough of this crime, mystery, and suspense genre.

"Crime, mystery and suspense are the all time most popular television genres and Sleuth will be a network devoted exclusively to these genres," said Jeff Gaspin, president of NBC Universal Cable Entertainment. "The programming on Sleuth, tapped from NBC Universal's vast library, will appeal to a broad audience who will be able to enjoy everything from classic films and nostalgic TV shows to current documentaries and series."

Sleuth TV will not air CSI or even Law and Order, at least not initially, but will offer reruns of classic crime shows such as Miami Vice, The A-Team, and Knight Rider, and mystery and suspense films like Scarface, The Jackal, Casino, Sneakers and Mercury Rising.

Sleuth will be available on January 1st to about 5 million homes that have Time Warner Cable. Visit the Futon Critic to read more about it.

I was all about the A-Team when I was little (I pity the fool who wasn't!) but an entire network dedicated to reruns of these shows? Dude, way too much time on your hands, NBC. Way too much time.

Maybe if they had new shows or something, you know? But reruns? Reruns!

Yes!!! New shows on a new network, but re-runs? Heck, A&E, TNT and TBS air re-runs. People can just watch them on those channels!

That's nothing new. We have "Mystery" here in Canada and have had for some time.

I've never heard of Time Warner Cable? is that a cable company or Dish Network-type-thing? ???

I for one will not be watching.
Considering there are 70 million or so cable households, and sleuth will only be available to 5 million at first, you are not the only one who will not be watching.

Am I the only one excited about this? I, for one, can never find enough networks airing mystery/thriller/crime shows.

And not even decent reruns either. Do we really need another network airing nothing but reruns? Isn't TV Land enough? And, do we really need to see Miami Vice again? Do we? *sighs*

Sleuth, NBC Universal Cable Entertainment's crime, mystery and suspense network, made its debut Thursday on DirecTV, becoming available to more than 15 million customers of the satellite TV service. The network is available in DirecTV's Total Choice package.

TV Land doesn't show diddly squat when it comes to crime shows. All it's about is comedy. You might just might see a crime show on the weekend if you're lucky. I have the sleuth channel through satellite(after being told we weren't getting it LOL). It's not really all what it's cracked up to be either. It's mainly showing MV about every 3 hrs. A show called John Doe about every # hrs. Simon & Simon doesn't come on till 00:30am. Suppose to also be showing Riptide. Hmmm we shall see. Unless they spread these shows out I fear this channel's a goner.

Thanks Dynamo! I didn't even realize they'd added that channel. :D Looking over the program guide I can say I'm going to be watching this channel a lot. The A-Team, Simon & Simon, and Homicide too...I'm very happy!
