The truth has to be told, CSI is just into the 2nd episode of the new season. It looks like I would need plenty of booze to get excited over season 10. Ok, the producers are trying to compensate the viewers for a painful season 9 after the exit of Petersen by giving the remaining original cast a little extra air time. No matter what they do, they are doing the same mistake of putting Langston in the lime light. Yes, he is an Oscar nominee and is paid $400,000 per episode. That does not mean that viewer have to endure his antics. They have already won over some viewers back with the return of Sara Sidle.
I am happy to see the return of an original cast member. If only Sara Sidle would disclose the name of her therapist and the drugs that were prescribe to her. Wow, it seems to have worked wonders for her. Never did she smile that much and looked that happy compared to previous seasons. If marriage had made her that happy and able to go back to the job she loathes and the city she despair than I advice everyone ditch therapy and get hitched.
On the other hand marriage may have really worked for her. Anyway I don’t doubt the strong love bond between Grissom and Sara. In a letter to Grissom she wrote “Our lives together was the only home I have ever had, I wouldn’t trade it for anything”. What I still don’t buy is that she just got married, moved to a new country and set up home there and suddenly she is prepared to leave everything behind and return to Vegas and to work at a Crime Lab, just because Eckley needed someone to fill a vacancy even though it was a temporary one! In the first place, Sara and Eckley never got along well; he even suspended her once and has instructed Grissom to fire her. Sara had even told him once that he only became the director of the lab because he kissed ass!!
I don’t buy this the story that she returned because she missed her ex-colleagues. I know she has always been on good terms with Nick and Greg. The first time she left, I don’t remember them talking about her.
When Grissom announced he was leaving, Nick and Greg speculated the reasons why he was leaving – is Grissom going to study bugs, write a book and maybe teach college. Never did they once mention that he was leaving to be with Sara, accept for Doctor Robbin who asked Grissom “Are you running away from something, or are you running to something or someone. In this advance stage of communication, there is always the internet and emails, as Grissom would say “That is the beauty of technology Nick”.
Especially when she just settled into a new country and suddenly she just takes off and goes across the Atlantic because she misses Nick and Greg – that is a bit too farfetched for me. As for Sara and Catherine for having a woman to woman talk – that is a bit ridiculous. Sara gets along with the guys better. And the last person she wants to have a talk with is Catherine.
In my book, Catherine only cares about herself and her daughter. And she gets so emotionally involved with her cases especially when it involves children – just because she is a mother.
The following are some of the scenes that I remembered from past seasons that clearly shows that both Catherine and Sara doesn’t think much of each other:
So therefore I don’t buy this whole thing about Sara and Catherine being bosom buddies.
Since Season 9 episode 11, evey time I watched en episode I would say to myself “What the hell have they done to CSI?” The reason why I don’t watch Miami is because of David Caruso’s character Horatio Cane which is pure absurdness. And now they bring Langston in who is even more ridiculous than Horatio. I really wish they would bring Keppler back. I know that the paramedics had pronounced him dead in the ambulance. I have always believed in miracles. The producers can always say that on the way to the morgue they manage to revive him.
In episode 2, Langston was defending Greg Mason who he had just met, when he told the CSIs “Are you going after him just because his father went after Grissom?”
In the scene where Langston visited Gerg Mason in his cell, he suddenly handed him a pen knife and asked him to demonstrate how he would slit someone’s throat. That was the most ridiculous scene I have ever seen. If he had wanted to jeopardise his life that would have been fine with me but why put the poor officer’s life in danger. The way the officer drew his gun was obvious he was not prepared for what was coming.
Then suddenly he became a therapist trying to advice Greg Mason, telling this young boy whom he had just met a couple of minutes that his father was a killer too. Unfortunately he did not have sympathy for his own father whom he considered as a killer – who had served his country in war, came home “scarred” as a result turn to drinking and became violent.
In last week’s episode, he had use a gel block to study stab wounds, the way he had held the knife and trust it into the gel block, it looks like he was emulating Dexter. If only he had he had tilted the knife to an angle of 45degrees and thrust it towards his direction – that would have solved the problem.
The experiment he did on the pig looked very ridiculous – and he bought a pig without Catherine permission – especially now the lab is on a tight budget – I stand corrected Mr. Philanthropist pays everything from his own pocket. If the producers are trying to impress viewers with Langston’s antics, I am afraid it did not work. Are we supposed to be intrigue that at the end of the episode he found blood on his father’s medal? I don’t give a shit about it. As for me I have decided that I am only going to watch 3 more episodes until Sara exits – so will I. I don’t have any faith that Petersen is going to make a guest appearance especially when the standard of CSI has been compromised.
“I rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself, than be crowded on velvety cushion” - Grissom

The following are some of the scenes that I remembered from past seasons that clearly shows that both Catherine and Sara doesn’t think much of each other:
- In Season 1 Episode 2 – when Grissom announced that he was bring a friend from San Francisco whom he trust to investigate Holly Gribbs murder, Catherine immediately responded “that’s what we need, someone to poke their nose around”. When Sara arrived she was very hostile to her.
- When the rest of the team were chipping in to buy gifts for Catherine daughter’s birthday, Sara had asked if she ever get to chip in and Catherine replied never.
- In the episode Caged, Grissom said to Catherine “All you get is Sara”. Catherine had responded “That’s all I need”
- In Season 3 in Crash and Burn it was obvious that Catherine was hinting a number of times that there was something between Hank and Elaine Alkaff, at the end of the episode when she invited Sara out for a beer, I don’t think she was feeling sorry for Sara because she looked rather pleased that Sara had broken up with hank.
- Then in one episode in Season 2, Grissom had told Sara that Nick is working with Catherine, Sara had responded “Bummer”
- In Invincible Evidence, Grissom has said to Sara “I am handing out assignments not negotiations”. Later Catherine told Grissom that she liked his tough act, Grissom had responded “You thinks it’s too much?” and Catherine had responded “Not enough”, Grissom had looked at rather in shock.
- When Sara had a tiff with Catherine over a case, Eckley had suspended her for 2 weeks and had wanted Grissom to fire her. Even when Greg approached Catherine telling her that Sara had always been there for all of them she was relentless and later when she heard that Grissom was not going to fire Sara, she asked him what he was going to do about it much to Grissom’s shock.
- Of course, when she ganged up with the Sheriff and Keppler to throw wool over her teams eyes, Sara had said “I finally found the right word to say to you Catherine”
So therefore I don’t buy this whole thing about Sara and Catherine being bosom buddies.
