Murder rates in CSI and the real Las Vegas

Has anybody here ever come across any statistics comparing the actual number of homicides in Las Vegas to the number of murders per year on CSI?
There are 22 CSI eps per season, but there's usually at least two murders being investigated in each ep; there are generally two cases and some of the even involve multiple murders. So I'd guess there are 45-50 murders per year on "CSI".
Considering that Las Vegas really isn't that big of a city and that the crime rate in most parts of the United States has actually been declining for the past decade, I'm wondering if there aren't more murders per year on CSI than there are in the real Las Vegas?
If I had to guess, my thoughts would be that the *number* of homicides is probably pretty accurate, but I'd be almost certain that the real LVPD investigates a lot more murders that take them to roach-infested trailers and run-down apartments and and lot fewer that take them to million-dollar mansions.

Depends really not many on CSI are from million-dollar masions, from time to time they are, but normally things happen in the Casinos or Motels, and often they happen out of Main town Vegas.
I suppose there are more murders on CSI than in real life but if no one died in it, seriously it wouldn't be much o f a show would it (About from George;) )
But they have to use variety.
How boring would it get if they were at old caravans and shacks in the desert or outscurts every epi?

Also note that, they're only covering the graveyard shift, and that each CSI episode does not happen 24 hours after the last one. With that in mind, CSI does not run all year, therefore it's assumed that during the show's off time, they are(meaning the fictional CSIs) "still working".

With all that said, CSI is Crime Scene Investigation, and it doesn't always involve murder...just a crime. The number is not accurate because the show is not in real time. Just thought I'd clear that up.

Also, not all the crimes involved murder--recall the Casino grift in "Suckers" involving fake Japanese antiquities and a vault robbery or the car theft in 4X4.

Personally, I would like CSI to show more investigations of what the LVMPD investigates most: Embezzlement, burglary, B&E and fraud.

Heck, at least in a few of the books, we got a look at them investigating computer crime (i.e. child pornography on the computer). Some of that should be done in the episodes.

Also, remember that some cases involve suicide, accidents, and natural causes. But I am wondering if the local convention and visitors bureau has any influence to hold back on the news reports on these deaths so they do not scare away future business.

i was on the plane back from las vegas and i was sitting with a guy and he lives there and he said there were like 22 crimes that week...i dont know the statistics.

Found this with a Yahoo search.

Data Source:
2003 FBI Report of Offenses Known to Law Enforcement

They also have separate statistics for Henderson and North Las Vegas.

CSI seems to be for the most part accurate... As accurate as a drama can be while still giving other shows some competition. When my dad went to Las Vegas, he said that out in the desert, he saw some real CSI's investigating something. He never found out what it was though. I just thought that was really cool! I wanna go to Vegas someday...

Yeah thank's Dynamo I live here and it's horrible- :(cops who kill are on the rise-at least 22 in the last few months- I'm afraid to watch the news-- and they just found the body of a charred man burned in his car- it's frighting- gangs are running amok- and random theft on the rise- people getting robbed in their own front yards-in affluent neighborhoods- I'm actually thinking about moving away- I'm beginning to be really scared- if you all want I'll post the daily news about CRIME--pretty creepy-or better yet- here's a web-site of our local newspaper and you can read about the crime rate yourself- :(

first, "forcible rape?" forcible as opposed to willingness to be raped? wtf?

second, the city i live in is at 70 murders this year so far and we are just halfway thru the year. we are a lot smaller than vegas so...

What I want to know is why they are, in some places, calling rape "Sexual Assault"--I really don't see any distinction and the second term sounds more clinical than "rape."
